  1. Very... but at least it gives the illusion of density bordering Central Pkwy... Sandwiching the surface lot between the apartments and 75 at least keeps it hidden from Central...
  2. Happy to see a new retailer, but Amazon? Gross.
  3. Just in time for the Mason boycott
  4. The Kroger facade is awful, needs a revamp that will tie it into the streetscape
  5. Who has proof Rolex is opening in Kenwood? Theres always rumors of ultra-luxurious stores opening there and very few come to fruition... If Chicago doesn't even have a stand alone Rolex boutique, I doubt we'll get one in our mall. Also, that commenter took news that the Disney store closing was undeniable proof that malls were dying then posted about the opening of a Rolex store immediately after? Weird. We did just go through a pandemic which hit retail incredibly hard... maybe store closings are more representative of that...
  6. Thank you for the pictures! Needs some trees ASAP
  7. Do you guys really think the original plan for Oakley Station would have worked considering its proximity to both Kenwood and Rookwood? Liberty Center is struggling to get off the ground as Cincinnati's second major retail hub and it's a solid distance away from the competition.
  8. i can appreciate your sensibilities. Maybe one day you may have that same response to a true double arched McDonalds. They tore down all of those and rebuilt atop those sacred spaces. I hear that they left the walk down basement stairs and preserved the golden arches as a shrine. pilgrims come from all over to light candles. Downstairs the shakes and fries are still 15 cents each. Ah, memories. If historic architecture is that meaningless to you then stay up in the northern burbs. They just opened Liberty Town Center, it sounds right up your alley
  9. Thank you for the photos! As someone who no longer lives in the region, I appreciate posts like this. That being said, yikes.
  10. This building is so treasured and architecturally significant that any sort of drastic renovation should be done by a renowned architect. As is, these renderings are reminding me of The Ecco Homo (Potato Jesus) disaster. If the brick must be stripped, I think the best option would be to incorporate windows in a way that not only maintains the monolithic design, but also matches the architectural integrity of the original structure. Think of The Broad in LA (top) or the EDP Headquarters by Aries Mateus in Portugal (bottom) and possible treatments. I know the clock is ticking to save this building, but preservationists are right in their hesitations with this renovation.
  11. There are several uses that could be applied here. I've been in many nice hotels with large conference rooms that don't have windows. They could use the space that way and the hotel could act as sort of an extension of our lackluster convention center.
  12. Hopefully this won't be as much of an eyesore as the retirement home built down the street. yuck.
  13. Do you guys think there is a middle ground? I don't mind the brick pedestal, however, in earlier photos, it looks like the brick ended higher off the street than it does now. Along Vine you can see a weird lip about 40ft up from street level (link below). What about removing the brick up to there and keeping the rest? Idk, I'm no architect, but I always thought the brick wall added character to the building. https://www.google.com/maps/place/572+Vine+St,+Cincinnati,+OH+45202/@39.1021466,-84.513206,3a,49.3y,305.7h,109.66t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sF9_za0QmH_nGDkX3f4ViCg!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo3.ggpht.com%2Fmaps%2Fphotothumb%2Ffd%2Fv1%3Fbpb%3DChAKDnNlYXJjaC5UQUNUSUxFEmYKOAkDTsbBULFBiBF-gguAb6ppcRokCxDThbhCGhsSGQoUChIJA07GwVCxQYgR_rENcqsA4RsQvAQMEgoN_IJOFxWOTqDNGhIJG_lweg6zQYgRePLW-jhTv-sqCg38gk4XFY5OoM0aBAhWEFY%26gl%3DUS!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x8841b150c1c64e03:0x7169aa6f800b827e!8m2!3d39.1021308!4d-84.5132146
  14. Is Kroger "cool" enough to pull this off? https://www.chainstoreage.com/news/kroger-partners-with-club-monaco-founder-on-new-apparel-brand/ Even the newest Kroger stores (i.e. CUF) don't necessarily seem design savvy enough to pull off clothing the way Target is able too.
  15. Filson, Shinola, Frye, and maybe Anthropologie are the only national retail chains I can think of that would be viable for OTR, without making the area feel too generic. Anything like Apple or Zara would be better in the CBD, which clearly isn't happening anytime soon, unfortunately.
  16. Warby Parker will open at 1419 Vine St. later this year. Where are you seeing this? Would love to be in the retail know. Anything else coming?
  17. It looks like Kit & Ace closed all their American stores. They did, but not before relocating from OTR to Kenwood
  18. This is the second national chain to open in OTR, hopefully they fare better than the first, Kit & Ace. Starbucks would definitely be a mood killer, although I could see a Starbucks Reserve, or Blue Bottle fitting in quite well. I always thought the area up by Findlay market would be a good market for national retail, i.e. Anthro, Madewell, Shinola, etc.
  19. That's surprising... I wonder where they are opening and if more national retail brands will follow. Anthropology opened on Short North in Columbus so why not
  20. Thank you for posting these! Moved to LA over 2 years ago but still check the forums everyday haha. Per the Wade infill.. Is anyone else seeing Kroger brand Michael Graves? If they were painted a dark grey or other neutral I don't think they would be as... funky.
  21. Whole Foods pleaseeeeeee
  22. Scentology lol, the religion of perfumes, duhhhhh
  23. This is a pretty sad mix of tenants... Nothing retail that's new to the region, not even another Apple Store. Not really surprised, though
  24. I thought it would be cool (in a perfect world) if Bracket Village was demolished and UC relocated DAAP to the site. DAAP and AAC along with all the galleries and pioneers in the area would create an even more amazing hub for art and sustainable design.
