  1. It's been nearly a year since this building was awarded historic tax credits and I haven't heard anything since. Anyone know what's going on?
  2. Most people I know have always thought of it as "suburbanites gone wild" Right. Taste (and to some extent Oktoberfest) are days where downtown is jam packed full of people. For many people who live in Cincinnati's suburbs, it might be the one day per year that they actually come downtown. It's wall to wall people, it's hot, there are loud cover bands playing everywhere, and you stand in 15 minutes to buy small portions of food. Really, the portions aren't even that small these days. You can only try two or three things before you're filled up. As mentioned earlier, you might as well just go to the restaurants.
  3. Kevin Flynn was on with Scott Sloan this morning and Sloan was of course doing a hard spin on this project. Sloan was trying to connect this to the people that wanted to save the Dennison and Gamble house, mentioning that they always try to impede development. I never call in because I don't like to get sucked into those ridiculous debates, but I was so close to doing so. Absolutely no development has or will come from demolishing those two buildings. That doesn't even get into how Freeport Row is a completely different situation from those demolitions. So frustrating.
  4. I'm pretty certain this is the original building. Somehow it absorbed the smaller building. Or more likely the smaller building was demolished.

Well now it looks like we won't have to worry about that anyway.
  6. I'm guessing 5/3 Arena is the backup plan if US Bank Arena isn't renovated in time. US Bank was chosen so UC could potentially play in Cincinnati that year. UC wouldn't be eligible to play here if the tournament was held at 5/3.
  7. With that kind of square footage would that be the Ascent prices or higher? I'm not an insider, so I was unable to see that information. Certainly disappointing, especially the 7,900 square feet units.
  8. Carew Tower files condo conversion plan with Hamilton County http://www.wcpo.com/news/insider/carew-tower-files-condo-conversion-plan-with-hamilton-county I know we've had discussions on this in the past, but I think this is the first actual movement towards converting at least some of the tower into condos.
  9. During spring break, a right turn only sign was installed and the no turn on red sign has been turned to face traffic coming from N I-75. I would like to think someone important is reading this thread, but probably just coincidence. Whatever the case, traffic flow has improved greatly even though MLK has been reduced to one lane. Overhead signs were also installed, which I'm sure has helped as well.
  10. EXCLUSIVE: Restaurant pulls out of the Banks http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2017/03/27/exclusive-restaurant-pulls-out-of-the-banks.html I didn't expect them to be successful long term anyway.
  11. Just saw that service would end in Cincinnati.
  12. Whoever decided to put a no right turn on red sign on Hopple to get on I-74 was obviously not thinking clearly. It causes long back ups from about 3:00-6:30pm that routinely stretch all the back to Good Sam. Then of course you have the people who don't want to wait and cut in line at the last second, causing even further delay. There's even a point when traffic exiting I-75 north has a green light and traffic coming from MLK still can't turn. They could at least put an arrow light in for that. An issue that doesn't occur quite as much is people trying to get on I-75 south who don't realize they're not supposed be in the turn lane to get on I-74. These people usually stop and wait for traffic to clear in the next lane. One traffic is clear, they get in that lane, then immediately get back in the other lane. Heaven forbid they drive over the white striped lines. /rant
  13. The short answer is that it's just a lot easier to get a solid return on investment in the Incline District than on Glenway and Warsaw. The area has the right ingredients to be the first part of Price Hill to be revitalized.
  14. East Price Hill has a grand events space in its sights to bookend its Incline District http://www.wcpo.com/news/insider/east-price-hill-has-a-grand-events-space-in-its-sites-to-bookend-its-incline-district?sharedToken=06a21625-7cae-457f-9874-7585056ef183
  15. It's in a different section now. https://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,22949.350.html
  16. McAuley and Mercy High School are merging, with Mercy moving to McAuley's campus. If it happens, and there's a chance it won't because there's already a lot of pushback, it's a great opportunity to turn Mercy into apartments. Hopefully they don't just tear it down.
  17. The westside location is closing temporarily, as the former owners have repurchased it (formerly known as Patrick's). Hopefully they will return it to its former glory as it always used to be packed.
  18. I could have sworn I saw this reported previously and sure enough they reported on the other side of the ramp just over a year ago. People are completely missing that this is the ramp and not the viaduct itself. http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/drivers-worried-about-aged-western-hills-viaduct-get-assurance-that-its-safe
  19. Did BurgerFi open yet?
  20. That's sad. They had very mixed reviews, but the one time I went the food and service was excellent. Always seemed to be pretty empty, though.
  21. Yeah, it is a restaurant and like you I'm surprised there hasn't been any press on it. It opened a few days ago, but I've only been able to find the drink menu.
  22. I commented on that Enquirer article saying it wasn't sad considering how cold it was and Daugherty advised me to check overall ridership numbers.
  23. Luke Fickle seems like a great hire for UC.
  24. There's no smell now, but the biggest issue is that it's very overcrowded. One of my professors said that the building is 100% occupied at all times of the day.
  25. Where did you hear that? The Main and Vine in Seattle is 27,000 square feet. I'm not sure how big the lot at Central Parkway and Walnut is, but that certainly seems plausible.
