Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The game is just too different to compare between generations.

Because that's not how its done. They may stay separate for a while, but if anyone is moving, its the one who was purchased.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Sorry, you are wrong. If his average is truly 40% based on a representative number, than it will remain 40%. That will mean that at sometime, he will make up for the low numbers. If he doesn't, then he will no longer have a 40% average which as you believe is truly possible. It is not as random as flipping a coin. There is no skill involved in flipping coins, as there is no skill involved in playing red or black. Based on a small sample size, that is truly luck.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
A 40% shooter does not always shoot 40%. Its only an average. He must have higher than 40% nights to make up for those nights below 40%, and he will, if his average is truly 40%. In the long run, everything averages out, may or may not happen in the next game, but the laws of probability say it might.

I thought a lot of it was funny.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
The reason for the difference, even double-standard, is that railroads grew up in the era of Laissez-faire. Roads and aviation grew up in the New Deal/Great Society eras. Thank you again Democratic Party.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
From Wikipedia, for what it's worth: 1978–1984: San Diego Clippers In 1978, San Diego welcomed the relocation of the Buffalo Braves franchise because the city had lost their Rockets to Houston seven years earlier. San Diego team officials did not think Braves was a representative nickname for the club. A contest decided on Clippers because the city was known for the great sailing ships that passed through San Diego Bay.

The Clippers didn't start in San Diego. Buffalo Braves.

Why are young people driving less?
They aren't? Why is urban land worth so much and subdivision land worth so little? That post reveals your bias in thinking cities are run down and 'burbs are pristine. Absolutely wrong about my bias. The kind of demand will have to far exceed what you are seeing today. I don't disagree with the fact that city life is booming. That's why I own a number of city properties and no suburban properties.

Why are young people driving less?
Its not going to happen until the public demands it. There is progress being made but for the most part people aren't fighting to live in the city. Who would make those kind of investments if they just aren't sure?

Why are young people driving less?
Never said I couldn't take criticism. I just thought it ironic that someone said that about baby boomers championing NASA, like its a bad thing. I would love to see your generation improve on everything.
-
Why are young people driving less?
Yes, I agree. Putting it down was a bad choice of words. It just seemed ironic to me that a generation that embraces technology so much would criticize the generation that helped provide it.

Why are young people driving less?
Don't get the in-dash version in your Jetcar. You can get a cheaper portable version that supplies its own power!

Why are young people driving less?
Not to mention a generation that enjoys the fruits of the technology, while at the same time putting it down.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I was trying to put it in the perspective of 50+ women from South Carolina who went to school in the 60s and 70s, not someone who grew up recently in more liberal Massachusetts where learning of slaves escaping might be celebrated.

Random Question: What does a large city do when there's no room left to build?
We should be trying to encourage jobs in these cities first, before the people to work them.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
If you've never lived elsewhere, its not something that's discussed much. Maybe because it happened around Cincinnati, and the Stowes lived in Cincinnati, it is more common. I first knew of it from The Little Rascals!

Ridesourcing
Has anyone ever gotten an insurance company opinion on Uber and would like to share? I have some family members considering driving, and I told them to talk to their insurance company first. Seems to me that the liability could be risky. Any lawyers want to chime in?

Why are young people driving less?
"I completely disagree that we are going to go back and forth between cities and suburbs for the rest of human existence." That's okay, you are entitled to your opinion. One of the reasons I think differently, is the ease at which people can travel. Imagine how easy it will be once we all have jetpacks or Jetson cars! Seriously, when my parents first moved to the Parma area, it seemed like out in the middle of nowhere to the rest of the family. Now its nothing to get downtown. Not only are cities expanding, but the suburbs are growing considerably. Are you really speaking of Medina County, or Summit County areas or Warren County, Butler county?

Why are young people driving less?
I'm guessing you are in your late 20's, because you sound like it. I'm guessing while you complain about baby boomers, you have benefited greatly from what they have done. I'm sure you have a lot of life experiences. What part of "things change back and forth" don't you understand? II understand what you are saying now about people moving to the cities, one day that may change. Its probably much easier for singles. I like cities. I live in one. I can't imagine how my parents and grandparents did it for as long as they did, because Cleveland wasn't a comfortable place to live 70 years ago. That's why they moved to the suburbs.
-
Why are young people driving less?
I said it will come around again. You haven't experienced it yet. You haven't been around long. Gather some life experiences and you will see.

Why are young people driving less?
And as they age, and their families (if they choose to have them) grow, the openness of the suburbs will beckon them and they will realize that they don't need to live on top of one another, listening to the street noise, or the ships horns, or trains. They will move for more room. The more things change, the more they stay the same......

NO TRANSPORTATION NO WORK
You know, you never really addressed the problem. What is your alternative? How did I insult people? If you can't move as you say, because of your obligations, then what does one do? What choices do they have? If they are about to lose their homes, or face eviction, and have starving children, then what should they do in your mind? Make some suggestions instead of worrying about my praying. Before I let my children starve, I would go anywhere I could make a little money to send home. Do you even know any poor people?
-
NO TRANSPORTATION NO WORK
Your stats address the poverty rate. Says nothing about whether or not they could move to where the work is. In your first example, it says that 4.6 million adults never married are in poverty. Let's start with them. Thank you for proving my point. I will continue to pray for all of these people.
