  1. ^ Wouldn't that be wonderful! That's the only way rail can succeed in Ohio.
  2. ^And there is growth in every location that had buildings torn down. How do you have a world class university without expanding? I think UC has more than made up for any building that has been removed.
  3. https://sites.google.com/site/ucwalks/points-of-interest/burnett-woods In 1872, Robert W. Burnet and William S. Groesbeck leased 170 acres of their land to the City Cincinnati.1 Groesbeck was particularly motivated to donate this land for the idea of creating the park in memory of Jacob Burnet, Robert Burnet’s father and Groesbeck’s father-in-law. This land became what is now known as Burnet Woods. Ten years later, the city purchased 163 acres and sold 74 acres to the University of Cincinnati.1 The university relocated to this purchased land in 1895, and has remained there ever since.1 Burnet Woods lost more land to the University of Cincinnati in 1950, when UC exchanged 7 acres of land adjacent to Alms Park and $46,993 for 18 acres of Burnet Woods.8 The area acquired by UC is the area where Rieveschel, Langsam, and DAAP currently lie
  4. I was lucky enough to see the offending thread, and am curious if this person was able to delete his offenses himself, or if a moderator did it. Either way; I would think you, as the offended party, would at least be informed by the moderators as to the outcome. If I knew you personally, I would use your new handle in all of our correspondence! It was funny!

And they won't win many if their manager doesn't think they can. Not exactly a "Win one for the Gipper" kind of encouragement. "I know you won't win boys, but its how you play the game."
  6. Ontario is also ~ 10 TIMES larger than Ohio!
  7. ^^^ Yeah, I read your post, but I guess we have different definitions of what a festival is. I thought when I lived in Cincinnati that used to have a strong feel as a festival.
  8. You're kidding right? Ever hear of the Cincinnati Jazz Festival? Originally called the Ohio Valley Jazz Festival, the event was founded in 1962 by Dino Santangelo, according to Cincinnati Magazine. The festival has been held at various sites, including the Carthage Fairgrounds and the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Although it began as an all-jazz concert, the festival has evolved to include blues, R&B and hip-hop. Past performers include Miles Davis, the O'Jays, Mary J. Blige and David Sanborn. By 2000, the festival was the largest of its kind in the United States, attracting 50,000 people a year. According to the Greater Cincinnati Center for Economic Education at the University of Cincinnati, the Festival has an annual economic impact of $25 million. The festival was canceled in 2002, for the first time since its inception, because of boycotts by black activists and artists such as Bill Cosby and Whoopi Goldberg. They were reacting to the Cincinnati riots of 2001, during which police shot an unarmed black man Sponsored Links
  9. Typical Zone. Only thing he supports is that which makes him look good.
  10. maybe the corporations are smarter than you think.
  11. If they are not wheelchair accessible, sit where they are. Just stop already. Quit playing the victim. Not everyone can do what everyone else can. What if I want my handicapped family member to sit in her wheelchair next to me behind the dugout? She can't!!
  12. In this climate of political correctness, there is no way this major work was done without knowing that they were in compliance. Let it go, you are wrong.
  13. Yeah, I read it a number of possible ways, as other parts of the upper deck have handicapped seating, and there is the proper amount of seating throughout the ball park. Again, while there is ADA seating in most areas behind the regular seating, it is in a specific area. I think this paragraph is the out though: Whenever more than 300 seats are provided, wheelchair seating locations must be provided in more than one location. This is known as dispersed seating. Wheelchair seating locations must be dispersed throughout all seating areas and provide a choice of admission prices and views comparable to those for the general public. This area is not a seating area.
  14. Are they required to provide ADA access to every part of the ball park? ADA doesn't have access down behind the dugouts do they?
  15. Do you think there was a point to that post? Maybe there will be a pizza shortage in Ohio!
  16. Yes, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say every night, but many a night. The total was double the avg. league attendance that year.
  17. Yeah, I always liked the old stadium too! If the 94 and 95 Indians could have played there, they would have had 80,000 every night, just like '48.
  18. ^No buggy whip retail shoppe?
  19. It will all be okay, everyone calm down. The only ones who will be upset are the architects and designers. Everyone else will either think its okay or might actually be watching the game, and not the colors of the ball park. Besides, if Sports Illustrated is correct, none of it will matter if the team is as good as they say!
  20. No more Buffalo wings, Texas Roadhouse, Detroit Ave!
  21. Bosco4789 replied to a post in a topic in General Transportation
No, the driver pays that in addition. Even someone who doesn't drive "uses" the roads. If not for personal transportation than for anything they do business with.
  22. The city has enough problems trying to fill in neglected areas. You're right, no one is clamoring to build anything on Burke. Where would it come from?
  23. You all sound like my wife in the middle of our kitchen remodel! Just wait until its finished. Then complain.
  24. I assume you learned in school how bad Cleveland was laid out. To each his own I guess.
