  1. Are they putting up the tree for the holidays this year? Might be hard to decorate if they are tearing up the square by then. Same thing for the NYE celebration, if they're doing that again. Playhouse square could be a good alternative.
  2. I can't post external links, but here is text straight from Marriott themselves: " Independent hotels will be able to utilize shared services such as revenue management, leverage Marriott’s enormous buying power to secure procurement savings and take advantage of many other resources to reduce costs and increase efficiency. This gives an independent hotel access to resources that otherwise would be completely out of reach without sacrificing independence or control. " " As members of the Autograph Collection, independent hotels are able to take advantage of Marriott’s powerful distribution and marketing channels to deliver bookings and revenue, as well as many other programs and services that help reduce operating costs, leveraging all the benefits of a global brand unhindered by complex requirements and excessive standards." Here is a snippit from an article of one hotel that joined the autograph collection: "The property, owned by Brookfield Asset Management and independently managed, is expected to officially join the Autograph Collection in the fall." My understanding was there was a pretty fair degree of autonomy. I apologize if I am continuing to take this off topic...I'll go back to lurking...
  3. I went on Sunday. I watched some Basketball games, then walked to the Festival Village. It was really nice; lot's of people and the weather was beautiful. The city looked gorgeous when the sun started setting into the lake. I went to Bounce one night for my first time (about to be 24, but never made time to go!) and a lot of people from the games were there. It's been really cool to see so many people walking around downtown, and from what I've heard and what my friends have been saying, a lot of out-of-towners have been pleasantly surprised with the reality of Cleveland vs. it's reputation/portrayal in the media. My only regret is that I haven't been too successful at meeting any nice dudes. :-P
