  1. I agree Cleveland needs more private not public investment that's when you will know a city has truly turned the corner. This project tho will mean a lot for the city in attracting conventions such as the RNC but we will see these days if you build it they do not always come. Also I like Louisville, Ky new luxury convention center hotel project deal much better. 600 room Omni. http://www.wdrb.com/story/24905527/sources-confirm-that-a-600-room-omni-hotel-to-be-built-in-louisville
  2. Sandpaper is THE PERFECT description! I totally agree.
  3. I hope so!!!
  4. Yeah I'm very nervous about the design of this building(Star Wars U.S Ops Center?lol). I'm hoping that it's just early and it will come together nicely over the next few months or so. If anything it's seems the building will be unique as I have never seen a blacked out building such as this is looking, the CEO comes into our restaurant very often for dinner and I'm tempted to ask him what are his thoughts so far with construction.

Am I wrong for feeling like this may cut down on the "fun" factor??? I think street vendors are so important in creating a festive vibe. www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/06/17/star-game-prompts-vendor-restrictions/10686623/

BIG Event with BIG money just about a year away maybe time to talk about preperations that will take place over the next year, including security, transportation, ticket prices, national media coverage and everything else!!
  8. Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen with the millennium hotel/convention center hotel project???? I'm a little worried it seems the activity was going on during the Mallory Admin but will Cranley keep this a priority?

I found this new article very interesting, especially in terms of Columbus unusually big city limits. http://m.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/06/13/cincinnati-posts-second-year-of-population-growth.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+vertical_54+%28Residential+Real+Estate+Industry+News%29&r=full
  10. The design does look pretty good, it's interesting that so many mid size markets such as Cleveland and Cincinnati are praying for a Zara Store. I will admit I'm in LOVE with Zara like so many of my friends, I drive all the way to Chicago to shop there and just ordered off their website yesterday for something to wear to the Jay Z Beyoncé concert in Cincinnati in a couple weeks. Zara would be a REALLY GOOD tenant people go wild over them. I'm curious to see which Ohio market gets one first, with this project and Cincinnati's new Kenwood Collection I think one of the 2 should land one.
  11. New info.... I think this project is gonna happen, I hope. http://m.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/06/09/fourth-and-race-deal-gets-overhaul.html
  12. Soooo I just walked past this project and I have no idea what to think, the facade is pitch BLACK I'm starting to think this thing is going to look either really Good or really BAD!
  13. I agree I have noticed that restaurants at The Banks feed off of the Atrium Complex and The Great American Tower in particular for lunch so it's good for them.
  14. After selling its wireless business to Verizon a month or so ago I think Cincinnati Bell will be much more stable and consolidating its workforce into a central location is another good step for them. I don't expect to see any more moves from them unless there is a merger or acquisition.
  15. There is no appetite for a new arena in Cincinnati nor a real appetite for another pro franchise such as the NBA, ( I think the NHL would be a better fit considering we have 2 college basketball powers) which is why a new arena is not gonna happen for a very long time. If I had to guess I think a massive convention center project will happen before a new arena but anyway, MAYBE landing a political convention and more concerts is no reason the public nor I will accept dropping 350 mil on a new arena. Yes people do want UC to do something for the Basketball program which will likely be a full renovation of 5/3 arena but that's it. A joint reno of us bank arena on behalf of UC basketball would be fine too. The idea of Cincinnati really missing out on concerts to other cities and that hurting us is silly, the fact is big acts still come to Cincinnati via riverbend and other venues. When it comes to the biggest concert events that can sell stadiums out they do come to Cincinnati such as Beyonce and Jay Z that will be here in a few weeks at Great American Ballpark it will draw Thousands and Thousands of out of town guest and is the biggest and most expensive ( ticket prices per Forbes article)of the year and as a side note Cincinnati is the only Midwest stop for that tour outside of a July date at Chicago's Soldiers Field. My point is Cincinnati will be just fine without a new arena for now at least.
  16. http://m.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/06/09/here-s-where-cincinnati-bell-will-move-600-jobs.html
  17. With Cincinnati Bell and GE Global Ops which is still undecided we could be getting more than 2,000 new jobs In the Business District this could be a GIANT!!!!!!!!! year for downtown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. According to Cincinnati.com the city and cincinnati police is considering a festival curfew for teens I think this is great.
  19. A big GE Operations team dined at the restaurant I work at downtown, I was told to expect an announcement soon. The Vibe I'm feeling seems to be Downtown/ The Banks but who knows.....
  20. I would be happy if they would just demolish the garage it is horrible.
  21. Cincinnati Bell to move 600 jobs from Norwood to the Atrium Complex Downtown
  22. Question.... I believe Newport on the levee has a teen curfew at 7 or 8pm on weekends is something like that possible for the central business district??? Is that too much to handle for Cincinnati Police? Would it be too expensive to do? I know these teens are not spending much money if any so the business community wouldn't mind. what do you all think?
  23. I have been working in Downtown Cincinnati for years and years at many of the best hotels and restaurants. Foot traffic has only grown in those years, crime has been a non factor for our local guest and for out of town guest. Keep in mind many of the out of town guest that visit particularly business travelers are from far larger markets that have violence that would keep 700wlw talking for months at a time.
  24. Ok........ Who listens to 700wlw?????????? I'm 27 so maybe listeners are of a different generation( I'm a millennial and I haven't met a single person my age that listens to 700wlw) but anyway I will say this I do travel a lot and crime in MANY other cities is far higher and far more aggressive than in Cincinnati particularly when it comes to gang violence, also please accept the fact that some people love to do what ever they can to trash the city whenever they can. Those people are very upset that their suburban home investments that are not gonna be paid off for the next 20 years isn't looking all that great now. In addition City living is simply White HOT right now it's just a fact here and around the world, people who was interested in leaving the city's core are mostly gone now the bleeding has stopped a radio station can talk for 20 hours a day trashing the city but it's just not gonna change the facts on the ground that this city is GOLD.
  25. And I do apologize this thread is about The Collection so getting a little off topic. I do hope we get a Burberry and maybe a Zara that would be GREAT!
