Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Just a wonky angled pic fro the Carew Tower to illustrate the blocks of low buildings surrounding the Millennium. Blocks & Blocks of ugly white roofs! Such a shame that any expansion of the convention center would take up even more downtown real estate vs bridging the otherwise useless land above the expressways. I cropped out the Hyatt but it is the only direct neighbor with any height at all. No new info i just happened to be up there with the kids last weekend and noticed this.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
True, on remodel stores the shoppers have no worries walking under ladders and around tape to get their products so we try to do this at night as much as possible to stay out of their way.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
^^ Yep, my company is still getting things to make for them and the deadline is making me very nervous. Crazy how many things are left to the last minute in the retail world and construction in general.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo if they ever build next to the Meiner bldg, and relocate the health center does that mean the new building can be 7 stories or is there a max height limit in the new guidelines? Seems that any lot next to a tall building would get a premium vs a lot next to lower buildings. Such a weird way to value property.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
^^^ I saw a tweet from Bill Rinehart that they had opened the roof and were lowering steel beams inside. Maybe they are just adding a light shaft to that area. I think he lives in the building behind this based on his downtown twitter pics.

A good 'before' photo before FC Cincinnati takes up the bottom right corner as well.

Cincinnati: Mt. Auburn: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot related to Mt Auburn, but i just want the fans to know that while this building is gone, the Body Snatcher lives on. I pass it in Roselawn everyday now since i've given up driving I-75 during rush hour. To be honest, i though it was a bar earlier (and the first one probably was) but this place looks surprisingly classy despite the name. Whoever remodeled that building did a great job modernizing and updating it as well. Live on Body Snatcher, live on!! https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1977847,-84.4584223,3a,42.4y,260.75h,94t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4EyauIIn9NITK0yddtldgQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationDisappointed but not surprised. Anything FCC gets a hold of in the West End will be coming down. They will make the stadium fit into the neighborhood by leveling all they can to rebuild in their image of what the neighborhood should be.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionHard to believe that 12yrs or so ago they had to have a Kickstarter/Gofundme to save Meiners from demo. My significant other at the time didnt agree with me that we needed to chip in but im glad many others did. Would have been a sad loss , especially now seeing what it has become.

Cincinnati's Homeless Population
TL;DR 7,036 people in Cincinnati and Hamilton County experienced homelessness in 2018 San Francisco’s report to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development cited a count of 8,011 homeless persons, an increase of 6.8 percent from 7,499 in 2017
-
Cincinnati's Homeless Population
Just happened to read both these articles today that had the totals of homeless for both cities and was quite shocked. Based on the visibility and negative news about the homeless situation out west i would have guessed San Francisco to have 10x more homeless than Cincinnati (and that number for Cincinnati evens seems high). https://sf.curbed.com/2019/7/22/20704224/bay-area-point-in-time-homless-count-2019 https://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/move-up-cincinnati/one-year-after-cincinnatis-tent-city-the-search-continues-for-solutions-to-address-homelessness Perhaps because outside Metro Cincinnati the numbers drop dramatically but the areas around San Fran are still equally high and that burdens the system even more? Either way the numbers are surprising.

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThose last photos are what i was expecting but are those first ones even from the same building?!? Where are those enclosed porches located? I think someone confused the roll of film (hah film) for Cheviot single family with the Mockbee photos!

UO Cincinnati Meet 7/13/19
Have fun everyone!! If is wasn't for an ill timed lawn mower incident I'd be with you all exploring, sounds like a fun time. Hopefully we can do more adventure meet ups in the future. I poked my head into the Jackson brewery basements in the past (on an approved tour in the 90's) but never got to tour the upstairs because of the tenants (and dogs). Id love to see it's progress now that it has a real roof. Please post photos everybody!

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionA buddy of mine just sent me this taken from the outside of the massive old school up there. It is its own little sleepy river town and just a few miles from the heart of downtown Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Development and News
This is the project that the mayor annoyingly said "Beggers cant be choosers" when it became apparent that the original plan with preservations and walkability was changing to this. Maybe that describes the position HE was in being beholding to donors but the city had the power to force much better. We got this because the Mayor let it happen.
