Newport, KY: Ovation
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionSeems to me that is MEMI's problem to step up and fix. PromoWest will bring acts in that are new to the area, and saw enough of a demand for those acts that they wanted to come here and provide us a place to see them. Doesn't matter to them whether that was Cincinnati or Covington, but it sure seemed to matter to the people in MEMI.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNew to me, but i bet if it is under 2 stories tall it will fly through with nary a peep from the Mt Adams folk who raised a fuss earlier with the various high rise designs. Isnt what was there as the Montgomery Inn banquet center in the 1990's a 75000sf commercial building?

I wonder if Berding's "We dont want to be landlords we are a soccer team" bit will bite him when they start building hotels or restaurants on FCC land and become landlords. Just landlords of people of their choosing and that line their pockets with rent money. FYI they are a business that happens to play soccer as their product. They are WAY more than 'just a soccer team'. I really want to like this team and support them but darn if they don't keep making that hard.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
For those that don't remember, this was a floated 'what if' render not too long ago where part of the front building was demolished and the remaining reclad and repurposed. If the bones are good, it can easily be turned into almost anything with enough money.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire
Doh, just scrolled up and saw this after i said something similar a few minutes later.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire
What are the thoughts of rebuilding all the roof trusses in steel this time? Obviously the wood was pretty in an old school "how did they do that" way but almost no one ever saw it and apparently if it catches fire there is no way to put it out. Seems like the cathedrals always used the newest/best materials of the day to the fullest extent, so why not expand on that and rebuild it with a safer/stronger/more long lasting & sustainable material now in 2019? Just my thinking, I'd obviously would have preferred the wood to not to have self immolated itself.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Blonde (Eighth & Main)
I think he means maybe the whites and grays shown in the current renderings will be a unique white & gray material that looks way more amazing in reality. Kinda like we all were shown those pinkish renderings of the last building but in reality it was the flip flop panels. Maybe the grey here is a brushed metal that sparcles in the sun or something.

Cincinnati: Eastern Bypass
I'd be WAY less enthusiastic to pay for any upcoming tax levies for infrastructure if the eastern Bypass is still alive, even is study form. Also the way he says it above Brinkman treats it as an inevitable thing and that the only question for his bill is to make those planning it work together, "He said it’s all about getting Ohio and Kentucky to work together. The bypass would be a multi-state project, so it doesn’t make sense to plan in isolation" WHy do we keep building out if we know the bad results and can't pay for what we have already.....oh yea, got to keep the developer and car lobbyist friends rolling in dough.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Yep, he's been planning this, check out the quote from the citybeat article a few weeks back. "Cranley says that both Chatfield College — at the west end of Over-the-Rhine, and Pendleton Community Council, which is to the east of the neighborhood — say they haven't been engaged and don't support the plan over concerns about parking". He also mentions that the possibly expanded right of way could be used for homeless encampments in order to stir up the suburban folk despite the fact that they are illegal now. What an embarrassment of a city leader. https://www.citybeat.com/news/blog/21059617/council-passes-liberty-street-road-diet-again

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
Both the Hotel lobby level outdoor area and the top Gourmet Room level are amazing spaces. I cant wait till they can be redone and shown off for their amazing potential. From the gourmet room level the Cincinnatian Hotel is WAYYYY below you and looks so tiny, plus there are great views everywhere but directly south.
