  1. Wow 813 Broadway is WAY deeper than i ever noticed, at first i thought the got the address wrong and were talking about the old BOE building across the street. Very nice!!
  2. Yep, and probably why the end of Quebecc has been closed for weeks as they tie it into the new tunnels. There is another similar cut from around Orland down to near the end of Sunset that is just starting to wrap up. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1302158,-84.5756047,1056m/data=!3m1!1e3
  3. Divide and conquer, slash and burn. It is going to be a tiring 3 more years.
  4. I would look at it as a day of the year thing. Set the redesign for the 359 days of traffic not the 6 of game days. Traffic is fluid it will find the easiest route. In a sensible world and administration this should be the path to follow, however lately this isnt always the case.
  5. Yep that is 100% correct. I have a paperback souvineer that celebrates all these on their grand opening back back in the 70's. Lots of orange, browns & plaids back in their day. The renewal praise and lack of a sense of history for OTR (as was the style of the time) is throughout.
  6. If they make the front Facade on Central Parkway mimic the old Burger/Lion brewery that was there i would be a happy guy. Even if they dont they fact that it has no set back is a good thing to see.
  7. Question: is there any law/ordinance that prohibits absurdly loud vehicles? I'm annoyed by the "cruising" motorcycles that are extremely loud in OTR and downtown. If the police wanted to ticket folks for excessive noise, is that even an option? Quite a few different options for them to be charged depending on how and what causes the noise. https://library.municode.com/search?stateId=35&clientId=1650&searchText=motor%20noise&contentTypeId=CODES
  8. Yeah, that does look like a nasty yield. (And this is coming from me, a Professional Traffic Engineer that previously was the MDSHA Traffic Team Leader for Montgomery County). A hard yield like this is a very unexpected condition on an interstate or interchange. I hope ODOT has double posted 48"x48" yield ahead signs prior to the yield. If not, I recommend you requesting them. (Sorry, I live in Brooklyn these days, haven't been a Cincinnati resident in 10 years. If I lived in Ohio, I would request for you.) I'm betting that using this ramp as a shortcut from 75 BACK TO 75 to save a few minutes in a back up is probably not the most legal of maneuvers is it?
  9. Pretty sure the fact that something like this was in the works is the only reason it got dropped with little kickback from the donors and Music Hall patrons who wanted it to stay. Once the initial fuss and media overplay died down the issue quitely and quickly vanished. Not to get on a tangent though.
  10. What's the "new Stargel?" That is what everyone has been calling the new CPS Stadium on Ezzard Charles at Cutter, Clark & John streets......though i have a suspicion that question is not as easy an answer as it seems for some reason.
  11. Yeah but the City's Planning Department says otherwise: https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/planning/linkservid/B57F68CC-CCF3-D8D6-DD5FB883EA12E1D0/showMeta/0/ I think the 'approximation' part of that map title is true since the houses on the west side of Mcmicken have always been part of CUF as a neighborhood and in the West McMicken improvement association as a street/block group. Not sure what neighborhood that is that starts at ravine either as the Clifton Heights part of CUF went all the way up to Vine St before becoming Mt Auburn. Not sure how 'approximate' the west end part is or why planning would even distribute an 'approximate' map. Just leads to more chaos.
  12. I think at this point in OTR if Sam Adams DIDNT open a tap room there it would be more their loss than the cities as that space would be filled by someone fairly soon. It is good to see them do it, and with the big corporate brewing money it probably has a much better chance of being there long term which is a pretty big deal as nothing is sure in the world of development or retail. A stable anchor on the edge of OTR spells good things for the neighboring area as well if the residents let that happen.
  13. ...how would that even work and why, out of all the benefits and tangible things the club could provide, would this be one of them? Last I heard, the church was becoming a rock climbing place? Did that fall through? Also, why would FCC have to be on the hook for redeveloping these properties? Pretty sure the Fiirst German church is still going to be the climbing gym Cincinnati Rocks though they were having issues with the parking requirements a few months back so i hope it is still a go. I wonder if those drafting this list dont know work is underway and were just dragging out wishes from previous years to toss into the wish pile.
  14. I cant imagine that the Mayor would have reached out to Councilman Young if he didnt have to, so I guess he was unsuccessful in getting Councilman Landsman to change either?
  15. ID still take the RA owned Hudepohl site over Oakley if the West End is truly a no go, If only for the giant CINCINNATI sign in the background. It isnt a walkable urban area at all, but neither is the location in Oakley, and bars and entertainment can be built nearby in the open spots. Heck, Madtree would have been the only real goto spot in Oakley and it is just one huge bar. Madtree South in the old Scooby Do building (shhh it never was a prison if we dont tell) would be a great pre-post mega bar and any overflow would spurn growth if the demand is there. Every goal we could shoot fire out of the rehabbed (It's my dream let me have it) HUDEPOHL smokestack!!!
  16. If things happened more quickly in Cincinnati then i bet almost all of OTR would have been bulldozed for re-development (Like Queensgate) back in the 50's to the 80's when it fell out of fashion . Sometimes the slow movement is a blessing and gives people time to appreciate what they have. Even cities like Savannah and New Orleans almost demolished the areas that bring them praise and notoriety among tourists and preservationists. If it were not for them becoming a place people forgot the would not be around to be rediscovered by those who follow trends. Some people were there for the entire ride though, or saw the potential and moved in despite the risks because it was worth the lows for the highs. Nothing personal at all, but as a new person here dont dismiss all those who got it to where it is now because it is happening on a slower schedule than you want especially if you aren't wanting to put your own time or money on the line to make it better. I agree with you that the criminal element must go, but it is and always has been a situation of the residents (of all incomes) fill all the empty spots and those who dont want eyes on them move. It has almost pushed everyone out except for fewer and fewer isolated spots. Why change that formula that currently works now while lamenting that no one should invest till the crime is gone? Investing in the neighborhood is WHY the crime is on the way out.
  17. This may have been asked but i don't remember seeing it. What happens if the City Manager does leave? Do we have to conduct another nationwide search? Does the Mayor get to appoint someone. If so who is in the wings ready to step in and how much more money per year is it going to take someone to step into such a hot seat. I dont see any of these costs factored into the $400,000 number that this whole ego show has cost the city so far. This might be better for the Cranley Thread but wanst sure.
  18. LMAO! That actually is true. Way off topic bender but relevant to the discussion here Pretty sure this is more performance art that a true political platform. Sadly i live on the wrong side to vote for her.
  19. That was the old (and Current) Dixie Terminal. It used to be the end of the line for buses from Kentucky but they were sadly kicked out to the curb (literally) and now the terminus is on the street.
  20. I liked the headline but how many people are left at the Enquirer that today's news seems to have overwhelmed them enough to go on about how busy it was?
  21. The whole point of it was to be a traffic calming pedestrian friendly point. I guess if no one wants to walk anywhere near it it is a success in their minds. Barf.
  22. This and the fact that it really doesn't effect the residential part of the West End now if it faces Central Parkway and it doens't cross John street should make this a win for all involved i would hope. It would be nice if the city and county weren't pressured to pony up tax money for it but hopefully the pros outweigh the cons. Hopefully this keeps the enthusiasm for soccer growing and doesn't kill it like the PBS deal did for so many. I hope CPS says yes and the residents say yes. Time to move on to the positives. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/03/14/fc-cincinnati-doubles-stadium-offer-schools-demands-answer-5-p-m-wednesday/423753002/
  23. I don't think it is that, as much as who backs who and where the ad dollars come from. Best not to bite the hands that pay the bills (or some mixed metaphor like that).
  24. And so it goes. Cincinnati Gardens is going down starting today. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/bond-hill/watch-live-crews-demolish-cincinnati-gardens
  25. I heard on the Raymond Thundersky Facebook page that this office building started coming down today. No big loss at all as it was looking quite ratty the last few years but i wonder if it for the new 75 bridge project or for new development? Too bad they couldn't cap the highway here and put the new FCC stadium here across from the giant CINCINNATI sign and skyline backdrop. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1031593,-84.5286561,3a,75y,124.69h,96.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRaVuNqsBOnw8ohEthRQG8w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
