Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Forgive the dirty outside views above, the windows haven't been washed here in going on 5 years. In some rooms a clear shot was impossible, but the tour guys there said the exterior of the building will be cleaned and the few broken windows repaired by the owners at the end, that wasnt part of their scope. Weird thing i learned, the garage was built and opened 10yrs before the Offices were added up top. I always wondered why all those hundreds of Facebook posts lamenting the demise of the Old Main Library said it was torn down for a garage when i knew this building is there. Turns out they were correct.

MACY's Tour Update: Always wondered what this top floor looked like, it is being turned into a 'winter garden' and will be open to the top two floors. Overall a pretty cool development and the full wall windows in some of the units are insane. the north facing corner units have like 270degree horizion views. I realize I'd be a horrible realtor because most of the pics i took were of the views and not the apts themselves but caught a few walls in my images. The top most ones are almost done and the lowest residence floor at level 8 is just getting the drywall mudded so that may give an idea on timing. I had no idea there was a patio on level 8 either. It goes front to back along the old Enquirer building and provided alot of off street outdoor space for the future residents. Also looked to be two ceiling heights and it depended on the floor which you got. All my pics seem to show the lower height and the taller floor was like 4ft higher. Not sure i could do a fixed window building but that is just my weird quirk, i'm sure many would love these. I'd really love to open my door on a winter night and be hit with that panoramic OTR view in the first pic though.

Now that i have my ticket secure i can share. Design Lab is going to have a construction tour of the progress so far with the Macy's redo. Not sure if photos are going to be allowed but i'm interested to see how this one is getting converted and what this 'roof access' is they mentioned since the roof is angled (or is it. i dont know). Anyway it's 15$, here's the link https://www.designlearnandbuild.org/store/p/macys-renovation?utm_medium=email&utm_source=customer_notification

What i hope they are doing.....Either a rooftop speakeasy club ala the Chrysler building or the coolest mega-loft apt in the city. https://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/21/garden/21who.html

I bet once this end of the street gets restored we will see this view in a few film projects. It will be like the Universal Studios back lot with the compact little slice of early 20th century city life.

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThey just bought the former TOYOTA building in NKY so i'd assume they arent hurting for space to do things. They picked this spot because of the spot, not for lack of room in Petersboro. With the recent closing of a loved Catholic school right down the street i'm thinking they saw an opportunity to jump into the charter school biz? .https://answersingenesis.org/blogs/ken-ham/2023/02/25/exciting-update-offices-move-incredible-building/

SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentProbably taken during a hiring event, but it IS getting really had to tell sometimes. My latest versions of adobe software coem with AI now and some of the results are creepy. My GF has a row house where the neighboring buildings on both sides are gone and I was able to fill in the gaps with the click of a button. Still rough, but the perspectives and shadows matched and it took just seconds! Glad i have a chipper personality so im less likely to be let go for robots some day (gulp).

So did Worthmore move to another location? Looks like they are still in business somewhere. When i lived on Marshall Ave & Riddle Rd i always walked outside to the smell of chili in the morning and assumed it was from them as i was pretty far from Camp Washington. I moved in 2008 but always saw activity near that building so i figured that is where it was made. Never looked further into it though. Glad it will find life from another business, though i bet that would have made some rocking lofts despite being right by 75.

Cincinnati: Farmer Music Center / Riverbend
Whoa, missed that entirely. I could understand having an indoor and outdoor on the same "Music Campus"campus but an indoor, an old outdoor and an ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE outdoor venue seems a bit odd, unless the days or warped tour, a traveling Lollapalooza and Bunbury are coming back. I guess if they ever do they will never be downtown again with this around.

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionLooks to be right back where they used to be... From Enquirer... " Worldpay is expected to reestablish a new headquarters early next year at 8500 Governors Hill Drive in Symmes Township, a northeast suburb of Cincinnati where Worldpay's predecessor, Vantiv, was located."

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionPretty sure that East Price Hill site is where the old WEBN office(house) & tower used to be. I'll have to look next time i visit my parents to see if the tower is still there even. I guess it would have to be gone for all that new development there.

Cincinnati: Emery Theater Development and News
I was just there for one of, if not the last midnight flashlight tour on Friday and they were pretty sure that work was kicking of the first week of November. I was glad to get in one last time to see it in it's current state. It is beautiful in abandoned ruin, but crumbling fast.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
I think their main goal is to minimize the chaos of the freeway through downtown and restore the street grid. They dont appear to want to guide what that area becomes other than extending the city west. I think if their plan was chosen and the additional land becomes a superblock of parking and a new arena they would not count that as a good thing. I cant talk for them as I'm just a spectator but that's my take. A new arena could take advantage of a minimized highway canyon and be in Queensgate as part of the new connected development area, it wouldn't have to be on the reclaimed land itself.

To be honest these are the only two features i can recall from the proposal. I guess whats left is whatever material is trendy at the moment combined with a 'wellness center' look?
