Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionBack in 2002 or 03 one of the CHCURC (Clifton Heights Community Urban Redevelopment Corp.) members asked me about it, so I know it has been a dream of several groups for a while. Back then it was a pre-streetcar idea to get get students and the hoped for wealthy Alumni Retirees who they wanted to move in to their new buildings to Findlay Market & make the Clifton Heights/Fairview area more marketable as a destination address.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Dennison Hotel Demolition
According to the City Manager letter it calls out the 4 story portion between the main building and the one story shed. It is ten feet wide but is the full height. You can see it on google and some of the drone shots as the part with a sloping shed roof. I bet it was a porch/rear exterior stairs that got enclosed at some point in time. Havent heard about it being the one story bit.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Music Hall
The City of Cincinnati contributed $10 million (maybe that number even grew) towards the total rehab. True, but giving away money is relatively easy; notwithstanding the budget issues, compared to actually planning a solution to a tricky problem. It just seems like they keep kicking this troublesome can down the road in the hopes that it goes away.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Music Hall
Did they make any mention of the cables and connections to WCET that also use the crossing? How sad would it be that the new Music hall is unveiled with the city govt contributing just an unusable and crumbling eyesore of a bridge ruin holding up a bunch of pipes & wires.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
Oh, so it is just a roll up door & Cinder block. Doh. I fully agree that is kinds sucks now. It could have a cool rooftop deck on top of that low part at least i would think or SOMETHING. At least it makes for a good long term artworks spot on that slim building.

What did you mean by 'fully encompass'? Is it now being demolished and replaced or do you mean surrounded? It has had that Main Street entrance for small deliveries since the beginning with that gap between the Hamilton County Building and the little corner bank filled with a low rise facilities type building. Hopefilly it is dresed up/detailed and isnt just a roll up door with cinderblock facade but i don't necessarily see this vehicle entrance as a project killer. With all the multiple uses happening in one project the vehicles entrances need to happen somewhere and the semis need to have their separate docks somewhere. Depending on how it is detailed vehicle entrances can contribute to the overall look of a building and don't have to be bad by default. Look at Union Terminal, back in the day the front lower wings were just REALLY dramatic vehicle entrances. Cars and cities can work together and we should not see the ways they interact with architecture as simple a service entrance to be hidden. It is all in how you look at it i guess.

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionYou can sort of see it on the 3d map. It is crazy. I'm sure it is not an apartment. That looks like the decorating and construction style of a single unique mind. The type of person who lives on a narrow street near town but drives a 5 ton Deuce and a half army truck. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1204578,-84.5169551,46a,35y,326.01h,45.55t/data=!3m1!1e3

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just realized i never looked it up on google street view and it looks as if even google didnt make it to the end. That, along with the abundance of military vehicles and flags just makes the rumors of a yosemitie sam type character yelling 'get of my land' ring even more true. Anyone else hear this or run into it? This area was one of the mentioned streetcar routes if the expansion ever takes place so it could be a good location transit wise someday. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1205415,-84.5174418,3a,51.4y,61.65h,99.61t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxUSUhcZ-ER7Q5JfJhbJWQQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot sure is Justin Jeffre still lives over there but he needs to snap them up quickly to expand his hold on the hill. Back when i lived in CUF the rumor was that the owner on Van Lear had commandeered the entire street as his own and would chase off anyone walking there. Perhaps he has passed on?

Cincinnati: Western Hills Viaduct
Yep, when put like that i agree with you that it would be a good way to get it done. Whether people outside of the west side would vote for infrastructure they don't use would be the problem. Perhaps a bundled improved transit plan with this as a main part along with other regional infrastructure needs in other parts of town that are up to the city to fund. Is there anything else as big that wouldn't be a state or federal highway that is funded by that tax money? Buses? Rails? the Sayler Park to Kennedy Heights Hyperloop?

Cincinnati: Western Hills Viaduct
I agree, I happly voted for the Terminal Tax but had i known it could be turned into a slush fund for other projects (without a vote) my support might have changed. That was the basis for the Mayors Parks issue failurewhere it was just a general 'well we might do this or we might do that' type of plan and it uncertainty of the reasons and uses for the money to be generated killed it. The Enquirer report on how the current board used the existing monies helped make people think twice too i suspect. Creepy Trees 1 - Mayor 0 :)

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionJust found this drone footage of the Sears Building demo from a while back. Compare the size of the street between the gas station and the site here, to the drone pic travis took in in the MLK exit form. Way bigger now, and probably the reason that later addition to the building was demolished and not renovated like the rest.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAgreed. maybe they ran into structural issues or something. there isn't much left of the front of the original building. Yea, but the old facade was 90% windows, if those were bad it may have ruined the structure up there. I wonder if the cornice was hidden under that covering though or if it had been removed earlier? Curious to see if they go old or entirely modern on the new facade. https://www.google.com/maps/place/8+E+4th+St,+Cincinnati,+OH+45202/@39.0999991,-84.5122575,3a,90y,353.47h,118.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKxDsCRcXtwMezQY66i-xcw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x8841b1507aa61bb9:0x1a2bcba87a585d6a!8m2!3d39.1002558!4d-84.5123522

Cincinnati: Hyde Park: Development and News
My first thought too. The mayor's .2 mile bike path is why they like this location? Sounds like something the Mayor asked them to publicize in order to get a deal of some sort. Yes I'm jaded, good luck to them though.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
It isnt, the way they do those files is to only draw the new parts and x out the demo parts. Since the Viaduct exists and wont be altered it stays on the base photo layer.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I know nothing about radio, but is it possible that they are trying to go from the cars to the individual stations at the most direct (thru buildings) route? If so can they change it to hop from one station to the next since they are pretty much in site of each other or at least put repeaters (again, I know nothing) in the blind spots? Are they only tweaking the software and not the hardware? Crazy.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
There has been attempts to put a development above the merchants lot (right next to the Clifton Market lot) for years but i think the housing crisis and NIMBYism about the scale have slowed it down. Probably the former more than the latter but i did here rumblings about the development being too big for the area back when I used to live nearby. There is a nice size development off of Whitfield, but it replaced an older cluster of apartments so the net gain might be minimal and in all actuality the people in the old place might have been more willing to walk to old IGA than the new higher income tenants would be to walk the the new Clifton Market that replaced it. Way more options when you have a car.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI bet counting the stories is exactly what happened, that was my first thought too. The elevation of the site looks a little bit higher as well up above the road vs right on it like One Lytle is.

"Big Boy" city? Hmmm in a checkered pair of overalls that could be said for our mayor as well i would think. Quite a remarkable resemblance, especially in this pic.

FYI it was much more built at that corner at one point in time. ESPECIALLY where the Main Street Parking lot is across the street.- Cincinnati: Interstate 75
Oh dear, three years of construction on this interchange. https://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D08/ThruTheValley/Pages/Phases-1-and-2.aspx- Cincinnati: Interstate 75
Yep, that is my work exit. Weeeeeeeeeee. I go from Delhi, thru the lick river project which has thankfully ended road wise to the Viaduct to the hopple area part up to Glendale Milford. The back-ups give me time to be impressed by how the people working on all these projects get them done so precisely. The most amazing so far was how they dug a trench along north 75 and build the ramp northbound from Hopple below grade, buried part of it and then the expressway was eventually rebuilt lower months later they dug out the buried parts of the previously built ramp and it meshed perfectly. The Glendale Milford bridge is to be another gateway type bridge so i guess it will all come down and be rebuilt to the new width and design?. Sadly we will also loose the Shepherd lane shortcut around stopped traffic in the re-do when they get to the road part. - Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
