Tiny Houses
In no way do i mean to pile on, good luck to them, but I love that there are 20+ pictures with most taken from the same spot spinning around in circles.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
That last pic is my favorite. While younger me got a kick out of driving outdoors from building to building, current me is glad to see it go.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionGood find. If i was the developer that would cause me to look in a different city all together. Those people appear they will NEVER be satisfied with anything on that land. Yea victory!?

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnyone here notice that some of the articles on the new $30 million Alumni Center say it will be on the SITE of the YMCA or that it will use DETAILS of the YMCA. Not as hopeful on a renovation as i was initially but it is still early in the process.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionOdd indeed, but i like it better than the rendering where the front was all flat glass and they had added a fourth floor that obscured the tower. I wonder if they planned on saving the facade bricks then noticed the straps had deteriorated and punted with the previous plan then as they thought more about it (and got input) decided to revise.

Halfway there, more or less.

Cincinnati: Random Photos
My guess is that that photo was taken from the Carew Tower. Based on the angle, I think it probably was not from the Observation Deck, but from a lower level. Would love to see somebody try to re-create this shot. Gave it a shot. From the fact that you see the back of the Enquirer cornice i thought it had to be from the Omni, but nope, you were right probably about the 20-somethingish floor. Tried to catch the same area though.

Ridiculous Density
From Reddit the other day. Supposedly New Delhi. Seriously, not a detail of texture this is an aerial shot.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
To help with the issues on the cleaning of the bike lanes in some areas, instead of taking it on as individual citizens would it make sense to get those who run redbike and the city cycle advocates to push it instead. It seems like they would have more pull in the system especially with redbike being one of the things the mayor seems to tout as a success. Hate to see a new redbike user crash in an unswept pile of glass and gravel on the parkway. Especially in an election year.

SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionGood news, unless they just save the front door and window stone and recreate the rest in a mirrored glass. Hopefully they can restrain themselves a bit and just let old and historic be both old and historic.

The lesser known closing lyric in Big Yellow Taxi after 'they paved paradise & put up a parking lot'. :-D

Would love to see somebody try to re-create this shot. Yep, you are correct, looks like either from the top of the Omni Netherland or from leaning out one of the windows near the top. I angled it out on google maps like I was a CSI person to verify. The new close by tall buildings block out a good chunk now, but still would be cool to see.

[/quote You need to paint an H on that Round Flat Roof at the corner and use it as your OTR Drone Station and base of operations for all the flying you do. And live in that corner penthouse below of course.

Cincinnati: Random Photos
Check out the detail in this KodaChrome from the 1940's. I stumbled on it randomly and had never seen it before. LOOK AT ALL THE BUILDINGS!!!! I posted it on the Save the Dennison Hotel site as it is the first shot Ive seen from above in color & with all the neighboring buildings intact.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
No, dont know how to get it to them directly (or if they would even care) but put it on the Dennison pages that I know their PR group monitors to make it visible. Just wanted to offer an olive branch of cooperation and hope for a new outcome vs all of their lawyers negativity and dismissal to other options.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Federated Department Stores Garage Redevelopment
Well there is P&G and the one at the old Chiquita HQ too but they seem to like to keep non employees away. The building across from the old Chiquita on fourth street sorta has a buffer space between it and the street that is plaza like too. I agree with you that a built solution is better than keeping the entire space open to be a good neighbor to the church & temple.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Federated Department Stores Garage Redevelopment
A less brutal, reflective glass building that didnt compete with the ornament of it's neighboring churches and was built with a respectable set back would accomplish a similar goal of letting the hidden sides of the more decorative neighbors shine. There could be landscaped entrances and even terraces in the facade for plantings that would also soften and blend a future new building into the context of its environment vs the giant heavy built to the max and overwhelming building that is there now. Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
My only explanation is that is is the younger generation trying to carry out the unfinished dream of the older generation and build that dream fortune 500 building that eluded them in the 70's and 80's. Sort of how the demolition of the Gamble Estate was done entirely to fulfill the wishes of a person who was getting all the unfinished business crossed of her list before she passed and a younger generation only there to see her wishes carried out no matter the damage dome to history and those still alive. That or an intense dislike of brick.

^ Yes the name is trendy branding and not historically correct but i was trying to appeal to a sense of family history and civic pride as a way for the owners to emerge from this a heroes.

Anything else that gets announced you say......... Just my dream (and lunch time doodling) at the moment but I hope something like this comes to life one day once people get over their ego's and outdated thinking of development.

I want to believe that the green line is the same Hurricane just cruising back and forth aimlessly across Florida for a month or so .
