Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentWelp, Scratch that. I was wondering about this when it came to the prices being locked in. https://www.fox19.com/2023/06/30/taylor-swift-concertgoers-cincinnati-have-reserved-parking-spots-canceled-last-minute/?fbclid=IwAR3z4_530KqlVpKmxea77bQywgfgX5Q4AWugyJ64XG5OdfoetB4uMoYX7R4

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI bet the sound is different spots. I was there with my pup in the lawn where the ICON front yard (back yard?) is now and it was loud enough to hear the song at least. Awful quality, but still "listenable". Joke on G'n'R intended.

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionGood points all, thanks! Weirdly I'm a home owner now who wants to be more mobile now that kids are out of the house and rent in other areas but with the rate rents have gone up since 2008 I'm priced out and cant really afford it. I dont even have fancy expectations but everything is more than my mortgage even after downsizing from 4 to 1 bedrooms (or just a cozy bed nook even). Cincinnati area real estate is a baffling landscape.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI understanding wanting more density, but if this passes without the owner occupied component I see every landlord in CUF who rents to students cramming questionable ADU's into every open yard that is left. Not only CUF but definitely CUF. It will be chaos. I want more density too, but the answer to density as i see it is more affordable multifamilies, no parking requirements in good transportation areas and opening zoning up to things like duplexes and fourplexes that got phased out over time. This is a specific plan to let home owners allow relatives to 'move in' more in separately from the main house or sublet their property to make some money to pay their mortgage. Trusting landlords to solve density issues is a bad thing to do........right? I'm not seeing the benefits of getting rid of the Owner Occupied part. Just asking the question honestly, not looking to fight.

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI just saw on Reddit people are pre-purchasing parking spaces downtown thru stub hub for the Taylor Swift Mega Weekend. I had no clue this was possible.......or ever necessary in Cincinnati. It sounds like it is going to be an unprecedented weekend.

Cincinnati: Lower / East / Price Hill: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNICE!!! Hopefully they are working together with council and this isnt just an attempt to be a step ahead of things to prevent another Schulte Mansion situation. Glad to have a name now to help with looking up more info, id love to see what it looked like back in the day and this helps. I have a feeling it used to have a Glenway address in its mansion days and not knowing that or a name i hit a dead end. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/schulte-mansion-in-price-hill-demolished-months-after-it-was-denied-historical-designation

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIf they remake the missing front porch to match the still existing back side it will be quite impressive.

Cincinnati: Lower / East / Price Hill: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt had looked like this, but the front apartment has been empty for about 10 years or so i think. You can just barely see the old mansion part in the back.

Cincinnati: Lower / East / Price Hill: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionJust saw this Friday. This former mansion, one of the few left from the time when western Price Hill was grand estate homes has been uncovered from the Apartment building that it had been entombed in. Not sure what the plans are for it but very a unexpected development. Located at Glenway and Rapid Run.

Cincinnati: South Fairmount: Development and News
Pretty sure it was a owned by someone who refused the buyouts as it looked like a family lived there for years before all the demos happened but before they were done with all the construction it looked liked they moved out/passed away or it changed hands. I dont know for sure that is what went down, but i passed thru this area for years until i realized River Road was a much calmer drive to work. I still dont know why that whole side of the street was demoed, it looked like all the tunneling took place along Westwood Ave and Queen City Ave didnt even get widened at that part.

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt didnt have any street presence from Calhoun really, but from Straight St it was hard not to call this pretty massive. Glad this area is getting density back. Boy was it depressing looking though towards the end.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: Development and News
Possible, but they call this out for 'manufacturing' in particular. Not sure that is what I'd call UPS. Sure is a better use for that land though especially if it connected to downtown more directly, same for the rest of Queensgate. Someday when i have time i'd love to figure out how many individual homes and residents were 'removed' so that we could have all those car dealers (now just FORD) right next to town. Probably several hundred homes.

SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI really like that Jefferson Ave facade view. Really nice way to jazz up what is really just a big empty box, and making it glass at the end vs a huge closed off wall is a nice surprise. Just have to keep prying eyes away if we get another Superbowl team practicing in there. :)

For example. This Northside business just moved/expanded in Blue Ash :(. I loved living near the Camp knowing that there was 24-7 activity and work all around me. I'm (temporarly) in an inner suburb now and the silence after dark is unsettling. https://doranmfg.com/

Here's a link to the building they site as an example. A good way to cut down on sprawl and/or to keep places thinking they need to move to open land to expand in town. https://www.nelsonworldwide.com/project/prologis-georgetown-crossroads/

Bizarro-Cincinnati
I saw this on an architecture shaming facebook post and briefly thought this was built in place/on top of of the Applied Science/Emery Theater building in record speed somehow. Nope, Manhattan at 151st and 8th ave.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea, that's weird. But at least it is all real brick for once and blends into the surrounding background. It could have been, and i was expecting, much much worse.
