Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWould just need a connector through the subway, though if you already doing that the Liberty St. Subway Station would rock as a tap room. Just think of all the underground fun that could be had if we relocated the water main.

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
So the Enquirer HQ will be located on Carl Lindner Way now. Ouch, bet they love that.

I'm with you URBANPIONEER. It does have a warm and cozy feel to it like it is trying to have a 'been there forever' vibe. Also strangely reminds me of the diner from Pulp Fiction.

Thanks all for tracking that down, now I can visit in street view!

Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
Now that I look at it again it think I just 'felt' it was French. Based on the licence plate size probably not, but the dream still stands.

Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
I.ve had this fuzzy French pic for years, but it was always a dream that the curved part of Vine across from the school would someday look like this picture. With every bush crash and demo that dream faded a bit, but hopefully with the streetcar route nearby it will be possible some day.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionYou can figure out alot more by looking at the backs of these buildings. I was most shocked by the back of the Chong. The front may be 1950's but the back is more 1850's. I dont think I ever realized how tall the 6th & Race tower that brought this topic up was either. There should be some good views of the river valley from the upper floors looking to the west from up there.

Or something completely different....

That's just a spot for the future Artworks mural about Prohibition and George Remus. Or maybe a brief history of Strudel?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I know it is just a placeholder rendering for a different location, but it would be cool to have those wind turbine looking things on the roof too. Reminds me of these in London and GE does such things green energy wise. http://geenergyfinancialservices.com/industry-focus/renewable-energy Nice to see on the HQ building as well.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationSomeone salvaged the big 'Mahketewah Hall' carving from the top and it is along the bike trail in Northside now. I'm glad someone save it. I'll admit I was hovering around myself when I saw the demo equipment, but it was knocked down very quickly and I never saw anyone to ask before it disappeared.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservation5000?!!? Wow. Is that 5000 individual rooms or 5000 little motor lodges scattered throughout the city? If here is only like 4000 walmarts in the entire country and it seems like they are everywhere, they must be one motor lodge every few hundred feet up there in Columbus. :-o

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationFound a photo of the Hollywood Motel back in its prime. Far more of a rural feel back then, it's surrounded by manufacturing and office buildings now.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationJust out of the city, but demolition machines are in the lot at the old Hollywood Motel on 42/Reading Rd in Evendale. Never much to look at and cool parts (the neon and signage) are already gone but it is a bit of the past that we will never see again.
