Cincinnati: Random Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionHere is what the south side of the 2nd NB is looking like..... I guess they don't want to show views that will soon be taken away? Seems odd if not because there are probably some good views from those.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI noticed the other day that he Second National Bank building is all lit up. This is new right, or have i somehow never noticed? It was particularly striking walking down Walnut near Court St by the Library Annex. Also i hope that the building to the south is a go because the windows on this side were just badly stuffed with pink insulation and covered over from the inside. Maybe they intend to paint over this mess at some point until the south tower is build, but pretty trashy at the moment.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationThanks much. Too bad there isn't a time deadline or some sort of streetcar penalty in the demo permit. It also looks as if keeping the streetcar running wasn't even considered in the permit granted in February, only maintaining the road/pedestrian access and not damaging the shelter stop in front.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationAnyone have any current news on the Davis Furniture Demolition? Just curious if they had progressed from where it was this past weekend when i walked past. Do they seem to be working overtime during the week to get it done and the streetcar opened faster? When i walked by this weekend there was no one around and the site was "closed".

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
That Zada group was never going to move ahead, I'm glad it is in competent hands now. I looked into them years ago and other than some instagram pics of fancy travel and Lambos it looked like the primary business was a tile/counter shop in (i think, it's been a while) Long Island, NY. They had big dreams and egos and watched to many episodes of Million Dollar Listing.

Maybe a logo change? I cant remember if this is First Federal or First Financial and cant seem to locate anything on the web with the logo that is there now.

Cincinnati - Camp Washington: Mini-Storage House
My kids and i compare it to the big glowing wall that expands and swallows all in Fortnite. This house just got lucky and it stopped before gobbling it up entirely. From what i saw at the time, it really is a lived in house for the on site manager. It does have a movie set/truman show vibe though for sure.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionHopefully with a bunch of new members on council, new mayor, new city manager, new attitude, and more eyes on things we will get some exciting development devoid of the 'good old local boys sameness' of yore. Those attitudes killed some interesting builds and limited others so (HOPEFULLY) the future is pretty bright! Maybe even one day they absolute waste of the Cincinnati Milicron site will be avenged.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: Development and News
There is however a pedestrian tunnel that goes diagonally across Central at Marshall. It was sealed off in the 70's and in the 80's or 90's the demoed the railings that used to surround the opening. It was similar to the ones In Fort Thomas.

I admit, this project eliminates some of my inner dislike of how the whole FCC stadium area development has been going. I just wish there was room for historic redevolepment of some of the things that are already demolished. This is cool, I like this alot! https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2021/12/01/pitch-side-center-planned-next-to-tql-stadium.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_CI&csrc=6398&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A Trending Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR2C6cwksv7GK_82Ln0Rdrh0DSLMq28RqW3wv3pHcsB2g7MHulR37Pmm4mU

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom what I saw they are OK to the height on the main roads, but dont want to encourage such tall ehights on the side streets (like Lyons) lest it lead to all the buildings in these "residential" areas being replaced with supertall versions on the existing lots. Tall is OK on the main corridors not off them. Right?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy girlfriend looked at the one on Hust Alley, but while touring you can see the back of 1920 Vine. It has no back wall and the roof and back rooms had collapsed as of 2 years ago. I'm sure it is worse now. I have a pic somewhere of a bathtub in there only held by the drain and one wall and the rest was missing. I know you can fix ruins, but this had had water pouring in almost all of it for a long long time. Edit to add photo. Check out that wild reverse slope that funnels the water into a valley at the neighboring building then towards the back. You get one bad clog and you get a surprise roof pool! https://www.google.com/maps/place/1920+Vine+St,+Cincinnati,+OH+45202/@39.1176075,-84.5173287,33a,35y,93.52h,56.24t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x8841b3fa276a354f:0x5deaed87217b0325!8m2!3d39.1175453!4d-84.5169041

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Tall & half. I'm kinda sick of the multi surface multi material short block long thing. It isnt Cincinnati, it isnt even urban. It is everywhere and we need to build up again. I realize the other way is better profit wise and it makes the number......YAWN. Sorry dozed off there.

Just remember though, in the end it isnt the results that matter, its all the friends we made through grift and influence peddling along the way.
