Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
This is from the tour they had 2yrs or so ago. the roof membrane that used to be sealed to the side walls here was all pulled off (i think because the copper flashing was scrapped) and the membrane was ripped up in spots. That cooling tower has framing that was rusted clear through in spots too.

I was thinking of going just to get some outside views photos from the Ballroom (if that is what the top floor is called). Do ya think it is worth the two bucks? Sounds like it might be just for the comedy. I saw the load up area at the back Sunday afternoon and there were cars and uhauls lined up down the block.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
These guys used to be buddies back in their 'terrin' down historic crap' days. Sad to see they have had a falling out. ?http://buildingcincinnati.blogspot.com/2008/08/centerpiece-of-historic-sedamsville.html

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Cranley may have promised a light there, but there is no real need. in an 1/8 mile stretch from that business to Fairbanks (delhi Pike) there are already two lights close together, on a road with no lights for a while after and before. Three lights in a row there would be crazy, and the Speedway across the street seems to be good and they didn't even get a turn lane.

Idiot! Hope he has skills to pay this back over the next few decades, and good work to all who got him for this (allegedly). https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/suspect-arrested-charged-with-arson-in-connection-to-the-historic-jackson-brewery-fire?fbclid=IwAR3ZM3ddHByBydV0b5mfHlHXv4Y8fhUsvURqGXZCfSBSf0LYg2z9nqP1BUU

I can certainly see the complaints happening , but there is way to much humor in complaining that a building blocks your view of other different buildings.

To be fair it is still in progress, once they bring in the "Cars of Elvis" and collection of Liberace pianos it will all tie together.

Cincinnati: Historic Photos
^^ I was in the Mini Marts "upper office" for a meeting once when my company was going to make some display fixtures for them and it felt like that office in "Being John Malkovitch" . I swear the ceiling height was like 5'10 or something. I was ducking.?

SleepyLeroy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionPer WCPO. This house is sold and while it is good to see energy efficiency a 200,000 premium could sure pay a few decades worth of energy bills for a house that size. https://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/move-up-cincinnati/northside-home-buyers-seek-energy-efficient-homes-but-how-does-that-impact-home-prices?fbclid=IwAR0VACB8aytxDW-rPpsesHBFI4RQ5hs68tffG-MbyblmGMw1KiVzdqk68d0

SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI know your joking but in this case i hope it really is something minimal ala the White Rabbit Cabaret in Indy. Is neon /illuminated an option in OTR? Ive seen the red Bar Logo on 14th and vine so I guess it is.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
I recently had to make a wall mural for a recent store and upon seeing the approval image the manager was appalled that i would include a (what i thought) treasured city mascot on her wall. I was told to remove him: which i did, but rumor is he is still there. Still there small and in the shadows peeking out of one of the windows of the county courthouse watching her. Watching her all the time. ?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionHere is a pic of how it was more insular along the sides. When some of those buildings on the other side of the streets closed down and were empty in the 90's it was kinda quiet outside compared to inside. Streets were open to load and unload but closed when the market was open, at least when we went on weekends.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
SleepyLeroy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI cant remember when the most recent remodel happened where the aisles were widened and the outward facing glass walls were added but the market itself has been an active hive in the main building and the larger outside stalls. The east facing end seems to have forsaken the large and busy vendors for various trendy or programming uses so that is way less crowded than it used to be in the past, but as an overall it is WAY better as a destination. Back before the glass sides it was very insular in the main building and the south side was empty except for those going to Saigon market or the other few vendors in the buildings across the street. We would go, get produce and meats & head home. It was always just a place to shop for me but i liked the interaction of the people that i didnt get in daily office life. I still went to others stores for the dry goods & boring things, and that was usually at Keller's IGA in Clifton. Now i think it lives up to all they hype it has gotten as the place to go and oldest market still running east of the Alleghenies (I think thats true) FYI are you just rolling with 'Findley' now to mess with folk?

In all of my time on this earth and listening to city politics and drama this ranks near the top of my list of petty fights that didn't have to happen. I bet this whole saga is what lead to the resignation of our promising new park board head Wade Walcutt. W&S could have just trimmed or thinned the existing trees a bit to get a better view or whatever their reasoning to cut them down was, but NOooooooo they had to go all scorched earth and prove their dominance over that little spot of earth. Im surprised they aren't salting the soil as we speak.

Whelp, the great mystery is over. I guess it will be branded with the tree logo but there are quite a few Heritage Banks out there. I wish it was the over the top gold scroll logo tbh.

Maybe a job for.....THE BORING CO! We can tunnel all the way to Price Hill! ? Or we can call it a I-75 on-ramp tunnel and get federal funds. I really hope it doesn't Keep expanding to be honest. Maybe by then conventions will be passe for all the carbon issues flying tradeshow people & booths to one city to meet for a weekend.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Just a thought i had looking at this pic from the Terrace Plaza tour last year. What about leaving Elm as a surface thru street but dropping the west part of 6th after Elm into a tunnel and expanding the convention center North? This part of 6th is already devoid of anything pedestrian related and there isn't anything west to walk too that also couldn't be walked to on 7th street. At the end the tunnel could divide to 50west & 75 North so the cars could hit the highway merging speeds a whole block sooner (to keep car folk happy) and maybe there is a left tunnel exit that pops up on Central heading South if needed beyond the intersection to avoid a light there at all. Just a thought Too bad 84.51 is between the Terrace Plaza and conv. center as the first few closed off floorsin it could be used for multimedia/meeting rooms as part of a larger Conventon Center complex.
