  1. Going to try and go all four nights unless the kids rise up and stage a mutiny. My ex had them on vacation two years ago so they have never experienced it. I bet they are going to be blown away. We walk downtown fairly often and they cant quite grasp the size of it and the crowds I experienced when i talk it up, as we are usually walking on fairly empty streets. If you see a bald guy with a gaggle of kids and a big black Great Dane say hi (just dont make any "is that a horse"or "get that guy a saddle" jokes or my 13yr old will seriously roll her eyes at you).
  2. The problem with signature architecture is that those empty spots are critical to showing off the design. I'm betting they will never build on them, especially for the school of architecture. Some of the other buildings like the Graves building have one good sightline so that things can be built on other sides but DAAP and the landscaping around it are all part of the 'vision'. Not saying that's right but i think that is how they see it.
  3. Kinda tiny but you can see it here.
  4. There is a giant new spec warehouse that takes up the right 1/3 of that circled are now. Just built over this last year or so.
  5. Well, i have some bad news for you.........maybe someday it will be different but for now it will be parking.
  6. Just walked past this one tonight and sale is pending. Interesting to see what it sold for. From the outside i saw lots of drywall and white contractor grade doors so im really intrigued as to the layout and finishes. I do like the design of the outside though and it did get railings. FYI in peak Northside fashion the little house nextdoor has a rooster and flock of chickens! I hope that wall is insulated well for sound.
  7. This may be on purpose and why they want to make Court St a pedestrian zone? If they put up some coverings and public tables like in Washington Park it would handle overflow on busy warm days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  9. Thanks! It was for railroad workers who would walk up from the nearby railyards and stay for the night before moving on to the next yard in the next city. Very cool to hear how Camp Washington used to be a 24hr neighborhood with round the clock restaurants and bars all over to serve the shift workers in all the industries as well as the residents. They had trouble finding the right fit for this building because it never had to worry about parking it's entire life as most people walked there. Finding a new life for it that was cool with just having 4 on site parking spaces has been both a challenge and a blessing as it made whatever fit they are revealing soon work with the neighborhood as it is, vs tearing down neighboring buildings for parking.
  10. WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY!! Thanks all involved in setting this up. I had no idea the building was so old or that it is a former RR hotel.
  11. To bad we cant sink the whole thing below grade and have it open to the west with an allglass wall. Streets would be continued and the air rights could further the rent by constructing mixed use residential and offices and retail on top. Any way they could sink just the new part below grade, or is it all about the space being on one continuous level?
  12. Eric Avner mentioned on Facebook that another announcement would follow to address this.
  13. So i told my young sons that the Millennium may come down soon and they asked a question that stumped me. Ill ask here to see what you all think. Do you think it will be imploded? What was the last place that was? I remember the old Olestra plant in St. Bernard but before that was it all the way back to Sander Hall?
  14. Most of that can exist very similar to the Terrace Plaza or maybe the first level is half pillars and the entire site survives with the hotel on top. The largest reason it is a likely build site is that they already own it. That alone could save millions over buying land that someone else has the upper hand owning. It could also go to the north in the greenspace they own beyond the garage if expressway presence is key but that sets it far from the casino.
  15. It is this area on the current Casino property I believe. Would help to reurbanize this portion that has forever been open, parking or new car dealerships. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1072317,-84.5051419,3a,75y,334.07h,87.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sBQMDehOwoUkSjwRrQrbqig!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  16. Same here, I must have just stayed on the fringe for covering more distance but had no issues and went back and forth on all the nights, I had my Great Dane though and he was wearing a blinky vest which does wonders parting the crowds. Dont let the traffic scare you off, just find the humor in the fact that for once a pedestrian is king and you can dart about at will while people sit stuck at the same light for like 20 cycles trying to get a glimpse of projections that are down alleys that they cant get to from their car..
  17. Just a follow up that an LLC in this tiny building in NYC is the owner of the Heberle School in the west end. I hope that they havent given up and are letting it rot away. https://www.google.com/maps/place/539+Cary+Ave,+Staten+Island,+NY+10310/@40.6323061,-74.1198382,3a,44.8y,354.46h,84.26t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sXNv0zo7Qq0p_N2vVwTkaLA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DXNv0zo7Qq0p_N2vVwTkaLA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dsearch.TACTILE.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D86%26h%3D86%26yaw%3D0.1339118%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x89c24e7443de6aa7:0x84f5be3ccb5f4c4e!8m2!3d40.632554!4d-74.1198439
  18. Speaking of odd west end owners. Anything going on in the old Lafayette Bloom & Heberle schools? The were both (i think) purchased by the NYC guy (Zada Development Group) who fancied himself a developer but other than this post i haven't seen anything new. Maybe he is (thankfully) selling? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lafayette-Bloom-Middle-School/1663524163889358?__tn__=kC-R&eid=ARBRNF4oWx48R4T0qhXnCWX5cx08JQ8uKqCrPtlEh3SVkbfl1m58FJiOfpTi_25W5UMFJ_53f6YBOyMQ&hc_ref=ARQiWcQEwosbAcyHHnM-cO9m7qU3WPe6psD6_nIB4IG6zybf91FKvRuOhmpXomMVQC4&fref=tag&__xts__[0]=68.ARBbWqmKCILlNqtuKpKaPkDCnogNWi3AQ9DA7CWOkXr_njVItt1KYCtomrzWJ06lUlhvmIHfpYG7i_HUUjA7eOJKSPodpzk04Txbe0o6nmOhZxcKIXViuji_isn_gzeOjIDfNWcFCbTIkKqqNJuwuZHGQ3FVSQ9GDzm0boA0kEvTOJ6VbOc-Norx8w0gcl31Vefb74tkPta-5sfO6GGOGzEtK6vEpi_-X3AS36hflgVwVHYTzGVYuGY1RUKM_JJiNRxEEPEKJOWAKO6ye0WD0AGr-efFv_Shqh5f8DEQMmLq-PLBvA4s2ReJK-Gt This is from 2017 for Bloom http://heberlelofts.com/#CONTACT
  19. I think this was solved earlier in the thread and this photo by Travis shows they are about equal in height. American Building height is wrong it is 200ft in reality not 255'.
  20. I don't see either of those, but i bet from the layout you will be allowed to buy something and carry it to the food court where all the food offerings have up front to go counters. There is even an outside patio to hang out on. Maybe not drink as you shop downstairs but you could definitely take a break and enjoy a few moments with a drink upstairs. That isn't something you can do at any of the Kroger stores I've been to so far.
  21. Yep i just checked and the whole south east end of the 2nd floor is "Adult Bev". Five aisles and the surrounding coolers (and i missed it earlier) plus a 500sqft walk in beer cooler. All is well!!
  22. Saw this marketing brochure online. Looks like they are trying to attract an office tenant to replace MACYS on the first floor. No matter how flashy this is though those views of the building on page 5 make it look downright dumpy. https://images1.loopnet.com/d2/qgbacrNjcPOyamIhGl8R1-iFc6FTPeg4P9YhvxnAgbU/document.pdf
  23. Pretty sure from what i saw the Liquor is on the 2nd floor with the food court. I know at least they will have a wine selection case behind the 'adult beverage point of sale counter' because i drew them up last week.
  24. No real W&S HQ thread so I'll tag on here. My 2cents is that they should move everyone into the Columbia Square/Chiquita for a bit, Build a new tower over the OG HQ like the Hearst Tower and leave the rest of the neighborhood alone. I realize this wont happen due to egos and the need that they seem to have to build a 'campus' ala P&G but i fella can dream. That area along/around Lytle park has always had such a cool but quiet vibe going for it i just am dreading the demos that will soon come.
  25. Perhaps, but maybe there was an indoor concert thing in the works with FCC. Have to keep all that new club owned potential future retail and hotel area filled on non game days to bring in the cash. With as fuzzy as the scope and boundaries are for this project, who knows what they are planning over there while the mayor throws all the simultaneous shade & spotlights on the other deal going on. The one that he isn't involved in.
