  1. Did the other two streetcars come with the "C I N C I N N A T I" text on the side of the cars? I like it.
  2. I think the only way UC provides money to the streetcar is if a portion of student fees go to the operating budget and in return, students get to ride for free. UC has had a similar agreement with Metro in the past and has a similar subsidizing structure for the Bearcat Transportation System shuttles. There's a lot of work there to consolidate transit resources in my opinion. But honestly it probably wouldn't be a board of trustees decision but a student government / SACUB (student advisory committee for the university budget) decision. They've made all transit spending decisions related to the student fee in the past, albeit sometimes with heavy administration influence.
  3. Have you met Beth McGrew (lead university architect)? Hell will freeze over before she lets some cookie cutter UC building go up in downtown.
  4. Sort of like JJ's Star Trek Into Darkness...? Star Trek: ID was pretty much a ripoff. Star Wars: TFA was more INSPIRED by the original. I didn't get the direct remake vibe that others did. Similar plot development, but I think it stands on its own.
  5. Fair enough! Glad to hear it has some ridership. Still, it's hardly a modern form of transportation in comparison.
  6. I don't think I've ever seen anyone on one of those things. Ever.
  7. I... am a Timbers fan (sorry guys) and was fortunate enough to get GA tickets to the Timber's Army section on Sunday. The game was amazing of course, but I can't say enough how much the visiting fans appreciated the Ohio hospitality. Despite a few loose beer cups in frustration, everyone was super welcoming (including the Union cafe bar (I think that's what it was called) that welcomed 100s of Timbers fans after the game with absolutely no notice whatsoever on a Sunday night.
  8. I think Smitherman could do very little harm on County Commission. The current commissioners accomplish nothing and Smitherman would not change that. Just look at his record on city council -- what has he done other than voting against everything? Sooo.... Vote Smitherman then?

Thanks for mentioning that. Subbed! Found a great article posted on there that I thought I'd share. Very insightful read: http://www.sixthdaysoccer.com/does-fc-cincy-understand-cincinnati-its-soccer-fans/

Hope they have plans to hand the reigns of the primary fan sections over to the public too. IMO the best soccer clubs allow ticket holders / official fan groups to be drive the process of fan chants, traditions, etc.
  11. I like this route a lot. My only thing is that I'd prefer it to be built as a light rail line rather than "streetcar". Which luckily for us, the difference is mostly semantics. Longer trains and longer stops, but with the streets it's following doesn't it lend itself to be that?
  12. Service updates and temporary closures. That's about it. Maybe safety tips.
  13. Confirmed. I just shopped there last night for the first time actually. It's great.

Someway, somehow, Cranley will force you to make that choice.
  15. LOOK AT THAT. This thing can't go down the street without every. single. person staring at it. I LOVE IT!
  16. Would be pretty humorous to see that argument come up in debate over new levies. Cranley: "People don't want to raise taxes, look at issue 22." Everyone else: "No - they just don't want to raise taxes to give money to you."
  17. Is anyone else thinking today that a decent amount of the votes against the park levy were actually a vote against Cranley himself? Maybe I'm reading into it a bit too much, but I'm curious how his reelection chances are.
  18. agreed. but it will be back on the ballot again soon enough, hopefully as a better piece of legislation Nope. It got crushed. No one will touch it for awhile. Yep - this is my thought as well. A la MetroMoves. However, I think there is a possibility that someone comes forward with a medicinal amendment in time for next year. A more phased plan to get legalization would probably be wise at this point.

Just the fact that it's a vote for "parks" makes your hunch likely true. Still, that "straw poll" was of 150 people at an event where attendees likely skewed in favor of the levy. Think it'll actually come down to the wire.
  20. I'm assuming that either they or other audits of the systems' operations have projected ridership broken down by hour.
  21. Don't think I've ever mentioned it to you but I love your site. I've spent an enormous amount of time on there looking at the looming history of the streetcar system that still exists. Thanks for putting that together and keeping it updated.
  22. We should find out which truck stop the streetcar will be hanging out at overnight. Ha! Well it's got to be on this path: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Elmira,+NY/Cincinnati,+OH/@41.7845356,-81.2753189,10.28z/data=!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x89d0153b3d17f2e3:0x48fc6630263a3abf!2m2!1d-76.8077338!2d42.0897965!1m5!1m1!1s0x884051b1de3821f9:0x69fb7e8be4c09317!2m2!1d-84.5120196!2d39.1031182
  23. Media reporting that the first car has made it to Ohio and should be in OTR by 4 PM tomorrow!
  24. Not yet anyway. Portland's got the northbound yellow & green MAX lines just 4 blocks away from the Portland Streetcar's A and NS loops. But it took many many years for that to happen.
  25. If Issue 3 is defeated soundly, make no mistake, marijuana won't get legalized in any form for years. It's a far from perfect ballot item, but easier to fix after it's passage than waiting a decade for anyone to take the political risk again.
