Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Isn't this basically how Cranley feels about most people in government? Unless you do exactly as he says, he doesn't tend to like you.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Rumors of an FBI investigation of Cranley/Black have been circulating for months. Is there anything substantial to these rumors? What kind of investigation?

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Maybe I'm just naive but... how does a chief of police impact whether or not someone wants to shoot someone?

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
That was my point. I hate when teams aren't physically located in the cities they are named after. Hence why Oakland is "another" city. I'm actually shocked that it took so long to move into the city limits. It's likely the most expensive time for them to make the change but they're only just doing it now.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The Warriors have been planning for a new arena for a couple of years now and it is supposed to be ready by 2018. It'll be in San Francisco. Yeah I've seen renders of it. Right off the Embarcadero I think, over by AT&T Park. Not a big fan of overly flashy, new stadiums/arenas. But at least it's not in another city (Oakland) and the location is pretty good without being intrusive.

Good read; thanks for posting. Have to ask, why did you say it was NSFW?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
AC is not a cheap brand. It is a more reasonable price point, but still stylish. Very much like aloft hotels. I agree with you that it's not cheap like a Motel 6. But Marriott itself does not classify this brand as full-service, like for instance their W brand that was pursued for this site previously. Not sure that it needs to be though. I actually like bringing in AC more than a full service hotel in that spot. The comparison to aloft is right on (although I do prefer the aloft brand).

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Honestly, I'd rather him get healthy. He hasn't been making a huge impact with the injury, and with Carroll sitting, it gives us a pretty good shot of returning to Cleveland 2-0. I'd rather him be healthy for the NBA Finals.

OllyTransit replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMuch? I mean, Fairfield in was probably going to be what, 6 stories or so? Are we talking double that?

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
OllyTransit replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere used to be some renders on the Uptown site for a potential office tower there. Let me see if I can dig those up. EDIT: Here's the render I found on UrbanCincy.

Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
OllyTransit replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat's a good point. I sort of like the idea from an amusement standpoint (meaning I'll probably ride it once and then never again), but otherwise, it doesn't seem like the best move for Newport.

The SimCity Thread
I know this is kind of late, but you might want to check out your traffic patterns. If the trucks can't navigate the streets to pick up trash and return them to the incinerators, then it won't matter how many you have. Same problem affects imports (like oil) for the industrial districts.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
Just want you to know that I never heard of this game before you mentioned it. I've since looked it up, purchased it, and have been playing it (semi) non-stop. But yeah, the traffic simulator is killing me. Need to look up some strategy.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Never heard of Zavo's. But is anyone else in here young enough to remember Metropolis? Went there one when I was 19 or so. Never went back. But just for memory sake, and for a good demonstration of what Cincinnati "clubs" tends to turn into, here's a video:

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
So weird to see it. It's real. We're really getting something special here. This is absolutely stunning rolling stock. When they hit the streets downtown, it's all anyone is going to be talking about for months.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
With the proximity of this announcement to the suspension of the outspoken county administrator, I don't think it comes as any surprise why he was punished and silenced so swiftly.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Its funny you mentioned driving on the rails and cars hitting the platforms, Jake. I was just thinking the other day that maybe, it's people like me who actually love driving on the rails that are doing it. I definitely have to force myself off them a decent amount before the platforms come up so I don't risk it.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I don't disagree at all. But it's going to happen during testing. It just is. I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but I put the O/U of towed cars during testing at 12.
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I'm curious about those strips. Obviously, there is going to be a learning curve during testing for people to understand that if they park over that line they're going to be towed for impeding the progress of the Streetcar. A couple questions: [*]Has anyone heard what kind of signage is going to be involved for that? [*]How close is the parking line to the clearance of the actual streetcar? I'm assuming there's a little bit of buffer built in there.

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
Cranley's resistance to this plan doesn't make sense from a policy standpoint... but really even less so from a political standpoint. Because here's the thing. This is the first veto that a Cincinnati mayor has used in 13 YEARS. All because he wants to introduce a residential parking plan, on a whim, that would be the most expensive parking plan in the country. Does he really expect to find allies for that? No matter what way you slice and dice it (blame the streetcar, blame crime, blame Obama, whatever), there is no reason for Cincinnati to have the most expensive residential parking plan in the country. That's just pure nonsense. No one from any voting base is going to back that. What on earth does he expect to win here?
