MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
Solich will stay. He has publicly stated that he wishes to retire at Ohio. He is probably less desirable to another school now that he is in his 60's anyway.

MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
In decisive fashion too. 35-17 over a very good (I can't believe I'm saying this) Temple team. Now onto Detroit to play Central Michigan in the championship game!!!

MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
C-Dog, Love the Harvard on the Hocking avatar, I have a similar tee-shirt! I would someday like to see the majority of OHIO students and alumni actually cheer and care for Ohio THE State University rather then the bigger younger brother up Rt. 33. Ohio has always had one of the best attendance rates in the MAC for football, we just need the students to care more, but I think it is starting to change!

Zipping through Zanesville
The building on the corner in this picture was the former site of my grandfathers meat market/grocery. My dad remembers that people would often stop there on their way through town (pre-70) to ask for directions. His favorite questions include: "Where do we go to continue on Rt 40 west" to which they would reply, "Go to the middle of the bridge and turn left." and the people would get angry. the other classic; "Do the mountains get worse as you go east?"

New Concord, Ohio
The largest village in Muskingum County and my favorite. Nice pictures. Ink, did you happen to get any shots of the main green with the alternating brick and grass squares?

Crooksville, Ohio
The vase was a project of the Artist Colony of Zanesville. All of the artists painted a large vase and they were auctioned off. They can now be found all over the greater Zanesville area. I would compare it to the Cincinnati flying pigs.

Roseville, Ohio
Since we are close to Halloween, Roseville is also home to the old Roseville prison (I believe it was a state prison). It is supposed to be one of the most haunted places in Ohio. Nice pics.

Hiram, Ohio
I guess that's what happens when you don't pay attention. Those are good pictures too!

Hiram, Ohio
I have been to this campus before, it is a very nice school. Surprisingly, they have some fantastic athletic facilities. There is a town nearby that you should really check out though. It is called Garrettsville. It has a row of shops in it's "downtown" that is directly on a river (or a canal, not sure) that are all connected with a boardwalk. It was a very cool little burg, and it is only a few miles away from Hiram. As always, great pictures Ink. I can't believe you make it to all these little places.

unexpected fun
So I decided to post this on here because I know there are several who will appreciate this.... So my wife and I had a big weekend plan. We were going to go to Athens to see a b-ball game, then travel to Columbus Saturday evening to see the band Saving Jane (one of her favorites) at Boma. We were going with another couple. We didn't realize it, but the band was headlining a benefit called "Upside Down Pride 2009." We decided to go anyway (we are big time Dem's) just for the new experience. We did not tell the other couple (my friend is a Sergeant in the Army) until we were already on our way there. We ended up having a fantastic time, perhaps the most fun we have had in a while, and once my army friend got over the initial awkwardness, he had a great time too. We even got to hang out with the band for a little while and have our pictures taken with them. Anyway, I just thought I would share this new experience I had. The whole story is a lot funnier then I can make it sound on here I'm sure!

Zanesville / Muskingum County: Developments and News
I should probably give an update on the development known as North Pointe Falls. This project, as it was originally announced, will not happen. That doesn't mean that there isn't development slated for this land, it just wont be a true "lifestyle center." The entire North Pointe Area however is and has been experiencing a boom in the office/residential sector. As cavscrew1 stated, Time Warner has just completed construction of a call center on North Pointe Drive that will service the entire east coast, and will eventually employ around 400 people. Zanesville certainly is not exempt from the hard economic times, but we are one of the few cities of our size that can say we are experiencing more growth then closers. Although it is not in the North Pointe Area, Avon has just constructed a large distribution center in the East Pointe Business Park which will employ around 600. Another positive development has been the creation of a 300+ acre Job Ready Site. This is located in the East Pointe Business Park and, when all finished, will have great road and rail access, all utilities in place, and will feature a 100+ acre ready to build pad. This land is being marketed not only by our Port Authority, but also by the state of Ohio. It is to be set aside for manufacturing. Ok, this was a long update, I could go on, but I will spare you for now!
