There really is quite a bit of potential to clean up this site and side of town a bit. There have been steps in the right direction, but this would be a big boost overall as it takes shape. By no means an Easton or a huge shopping complex, but a mixed use development would do wonders. Some shopping of course wouldn't hurt, the reality is all the major good shopping centers are all focused on the Northern side of Columbus. A boost to the Southwest end of town right along 270 could be a great booster shot to the area.

It is probably more common than people realize. I work for Nationwide in downtown Columbus, and thankfully, I entered into a new building about 7 years ago where I got a parking pass for a garage next to my building automatically. Yes I have to pay for it, but it is discounted heavily compared to a normal citizen wanting a space in this garage. The upside also is that I can use this garage anytime I want. Concerts, hockey, baseball, soon to be soccer games, North Market/Short North visits, etc so it's actually quite nice to have. Additionally, if you work in the Plaza 1, Plaza 2 or Plaza 3 towers, you are put on a very long waiting list, that typically takes years before you can get the privilege of being able to still pay for a space in the nearby garages. A large portion of workers still need to park many blocks away and walk. When Chipotle builds their new offices with the mix use etc......I hope parking is taken into account as people are using these lots right now for that in many cases.

Perhaps something along the lines of this hospital in Houston. Ya never know.....

I'm loving all the rooftops that are coming online in Columbus, it really is "elevating" the city and adding a great vibe! I'm excited for the new rooftop on the Moxy hotel to open soon, as well as the rooftop on the Canopy hotel. Obviously there will be another rooftop coming with the new Hilton 2.0 tower once completed. Here are just a few pics from Lincoln Social this past weekend. The views North into Victorian Village and more of the Short North are great!! I also love the new rooftop of the Wood Companies building with the infinity pool facing the city!!! Such a great addition!!

I'm not sure if there was any true announcement/publicly promoted grand opening yet, but this store is now open....

Clicking around that site, am I understanding it correct that they only project that the multi-family demand from 2017 - 2030 is only 4K units for Cleveland?? Cincinnati is calling for 11.9K and Columbus is at 27K. Looking at larger faster growing cities, it's really elevated, Austin shows a demand for 98.1K and Atlanta is a whopping 144K Just kind of interesting to see the various demands I suppose.

I could be wrong, but I swear I read somewhere in the many articles that the ground breaking was strategically scheduled for that conference so the attendee's would witness /attend it however actually activity would not start until late September if not October.

The local tourism company, Experience Columbus has really expanded their reach and in my opinion continues to grow and make all of what the area has to offer accessible and known. At the bare minimum, I'd recommend requesting the free visitors guide magazine. Also don't forget that this view will eventually have the Hilton 2.0 tower and Market Tower in it's future. I feel being against the highway, and with how much the convetion center business is growing, as well as the future Crew stadium not a horrible walk away, I would incorporate some significant parking garage options for the bottom 3-4 floors, and build above that, to get the windows and views to look over the highway and power substation across the street. You'd have a great view into Goodale Park across the freeway, as well as the surrounding area. Just my thought though. I know many people who still have to park in these lots just to work at their Nationwide offices each day who don't have the luxury of the company spaces, there aren't enough right now.

That was the impression I got. He made it sound like he saw new ones that were just updated within the last 2 weeks.

Over the weekend, I was at an event, where I was able to pick the brain of a friend of mine who is heavily involved with commercial real estate in Columbus. I brought up this project, and asked if he had any inside details, and although he couldn't go into a ton of specifics, he said the height will be at least 32 stories, and that the most recent updated renderings he was allowed to see within the last few weeks were "sick".......in a good way. Not sure if we will get any public release/update soon, but this source is pretty reliable.

The new rooftop has been quite the hit lately. I'm pumped that this is the first of several more to come in the very near future!! Adds a great perspective and vibe!!

I think you're spot on. From street level, you never see this wall, but as it does become more visible from new heights, it's a great opportunity to dress it up. Given that this is the building that connects to the beautiful Pizzuti Collection Art Museum, which is officially in partnership with CMO, this could be a great opportunity for them to advertise or promote "art" on this huge "canvas". Just a thought.....

I had some friends who attended a pre-opening of the Lincoln Social lounge/club occupying the new retractable rooftop space of the 711 building. Not the most polished of photos but good shots of High Street both looking North and South. It's crazy how in the last decade it has filled in to almost a completely non stop row of buildings now. This has all filled out quite nicely. The view of the new Hilton Hotel expansion looking towards downtown will be fun to see as well in the future!!

So regarding RAM, there has been no official announcement about specifics, however they are removing all the tanks and brewing equipment. Someone peaked through the windows and tried to take some pics of the blueprints laying out hahahaha From what I can tell, the one page looks to be the 2nd floor layout. Looks to possibly be some sort of club/lounge based on the seating and what not. Time will tell, I'm sure we will all know very soon.

A few recent pics I was able to snag recently strolling through the neighborhood recently. I've peaked in at the 711 N High Building for the new Del Mar restaurant, and I must admit the space looks amazing!! Very excited to see Cameron Mitchell's take on Southern California dining as well as the rooftop bar/lounge. I'm also liking the exterior lighting taking place. The Graduate Hotel (former Bollinger tower) window expansion and front addition is also very much along. News of another Shake Shack is going into this space, along with a coffee shop. I'm pretty sure they are going to be putting another rooftop feature/space onto this building as well. And a random view from the back of the new Moxy Hotel progress. Crazy to think these 3 projects alone will add 3 rooftop experiences to the area.....next thing you know they'll be connecting them by zip line!!! (kidding of course) A friend of mine who moved here from New York City about 8 years ago for work but has spent much time in and about the East Coast cities, felt that the vibe of the Short North is very much starting to trend towards the U Street District in Washington DC. Having family there and visiting that area a bit, I can see the assimilation.

I apologize, I should have emphasized the "adjacent" aspect of this. It is not the Family Dollar site, rather the lot right next to it at 3rd and High. I don't mind the design for the proposed Family Dollar site, or what's adjacent to it, the renderings look like a slightly nicer more spruced up Hub with better finishes. Regarding the CashSmart site, I've always been told that might be one of the last lots to go only because supposedly the site will be costly to prepare due to left over underground gas tanks?? I could be wrong on this, but if it's true, I can see why developers have been hesitant to develop quite yet when there was so many other open lots previously, which now have increasingly become filled in over the last 5-9 years.

I have been told by pretty reliable sources, that there are already pretty concrete plans by Wood's companies to redevelop that strip mall, the reality is they are just really busy with other projects at the moment, so I think it is just "waiting in line" on their current project list before getting started. I'm sure we will see something at some point, but it could still be a moment or two. They tend to move quite slow with their construction, however with end product and quality is worth it in my opinion.

To build off that initial line, you could extend it directly into Franklinton and the West side of town if you really wanted to think future expansion. Those tracks go right in that direction.... Rail is such a viable option still, and much of our high way corridors as well as existing tracks are positioned well in my opinion...
