  1. I'm intrigued by the iron looking panels. It looks like there could be some nice unexpected public artwork almost incorporated here.
  2. It has almost a "brutalist" look to it, but if the external materials are of good quality it could turn out pretty cool. At first I was like, no balconies???? But then looked closer and it appears they are built within the building so they are covered, which is actually quite nice. I'd also like to see what kind of amenity deck they are offering. Perhaps where it is tapered down on the "back" end facing West. A pool deck with westward sun would actually do nicely!!
  3. So you have The Continental Building doing a 100% conversion to like 400 units. You have Edwards driven PNC tower being converted to a mix use with residential units and now you have this tower being converted as well. All within a 2-3 block of each other. This is awesome news!! A nice option to add residential to a downtown that is going to add residents at a faster pace than it ever has. I still strive to hit that 20,000 mark ASAP, we are rapidly on our way, with only continual momentum pushing it even beyond that. Once Columbus gets there I'm convinced more retailers will be willing to go in (Target etc..) Combined with the new builds that are all in the workings I'm loving the mix of old/conversion and new!!!
  4. This is such a great addition to downtown!!! And right in an area that has been building up and so much more in the pipeline!!! I'm planning to go tomorrow!! Love Jackie O's!!!
  5. I think the Ohio History Connection Museum that's off I-71 could have an opportunity to do a great Micro-Museum space with rotating exhibits. There are so many artifacts that are in storage because there is simply not enough museum space to display it all at once. (One of my ancestors restored buggies included). With the proper curation and leadership you could easily have a quarterly rotation of educational and historical items on exhibit.
  6. I think it's going to be well more than a dozen when it's all said and done. The downtown momentum is going to be amazing over the next decade and more.
  7. Is it already leased above 90% ?
  8. I kind of figured the fence/access has more to do with the city owned park than the developer. Could look at it two ways, as a resident in one of those buildings, it may deter too much loitering on their front steps/property since the access will be limited, on the other side of the coin they will have to walk the little extra distance to the end of the fence to enter the park when they want. I like the idea of an access point but I don't think it's a huge issue if there isn't. That park already is very "gated" even on the other side of the park.
  9. I wonder if the folks in German Village will try to get this reduced in height??? (yes, this is sarcasm)
  10. Pretty sure we are going to see like 10-20 of these over the next decade as they push for 40,000+ residents and the obvious population boom in the pipeline for Columbus. Just getting started...
  11. Wasn't sure where to put these ones, but just some good perspectives from the top of the new Hilton tower. I really like the view of the Short North. I also really like the view of all 3 stadiums lined up. Can only imagine in 5-10 years when there are several condo towers likely to add. Also all the infill to come in the Warehouse/Discovery districts will be fun to watch in the coming years I'd assume mostly residential with the cities plan to continually work towards 40K+ I still say the 20K mark will be a tipping point for more commercial/market/restaurants to finally pull the trigger on planting roots downtown. This city is just getting started!! I also like how you can see the foothills rising in the views to the Southeast.
  12. Considering Ohio is the 2nd ranked state for onshoring, and all the Intel, Honda and spinoff from it taking place in the Columbus region, I'm not surprised at all. Obviously many other areas of the state are also receiving great influx of jobs lately IMO
  13. A few from Stories On High...this view is really going to be different considering there will be an even larger/taller building here soon!!!
  14. Went for a nice evening walk last night along the river front and through Franklinton and snapped a few pics. I'm loving how this city keeps filling in more and more and more...
  15. So just for reference, the neighborhoods outlined in blue have been cutoff and it's such a pain now and takes up way more time to go out of your way. The red lines indicate the alternative routes now. Basically you either need to go out of your way to 270, or snake up Wilson or Hague to hop onto 70/670. The old easy route I have in green which you could easily drive down Sullivant, hop onto 70W and quickly loop onto 315N. The other nice part of this was you could also loop quickly onto 670W on this route and shoot onto Neil Ave way quicker if you were going to the Short North area.
  16. Conversely I think it's a huge step in the wrong direction that they are permanently removing theI-70 east bound access to 315N. It's a major cutoff of access to that major artery for the West/SW side of Columbus. Doing all this major updating and the end result limits access.
  17. Disclosure: I HAVE NO EXTENSIVE TRAIN KNOWLEDGE I went and checked out the new Stories On High at the new Hilton tower last night, and while I was looking out from above, I got to thinking if there might be any alternative sites to a train station other than what has already been proposed. Driving the road that runs underneath the Hyatt/Convention/Hilton by the current tracks, it seems very very tight down there for platforms. I'm sure it can be done, but still wanted to ponder if there's any ability for another site. Looking out, you can see the recently cleared out land next to Kemba Live and the baseball stadium along Neil Ave. The track run right along there. It's just a stones throw away from the current proposal but seems to offer much more space. Second site, given the recent announcement that Spaghetti Warehouse will be starting a new modern life downtown, could there be any ability to put a station in the space where their current building is? Tracks run along both sides of the property, and will become more and more accessible as the LinkUS rapid bus line gets put along Broad Street. Again, I have very limited knowledge of the logistics of any other site working, but was just having fun thinking about alternatives as I looked at Columbus from above.
  18. With Google Earth finally updating for Columbus, it would be cool to see side by side comparisons of some key areas to see the difference. I moved here in 2010, and I can literally walk block by block through this city and point out what has been newly developed in 13 years. Sometimes I feel like people get impatient irrationally, because when I start adding it up, it is remarkable to see the infill!! Other peer cities would kill for what has happened here in the last decade+. The exciting thing is we have so much more momentum in the pipeline now than we did then. It's been and continues to be a fun time to live here and see all the changes and development always going on.
  19. All jokes aside, I would love to have a Moo-Moo on the Westside either the Lincoln Village area just outside 270 or just within 270 off Broad. Maybe near the new Sheets/Bob Evans.
  20. I suppose it could go either way. I for one didn't ever think to go to it because it was somewhat tucked away IMO and you almost forgot about it. From Broad, it was never lit up and you would never even realize it was an open business half the time. It took me every bit of living here for 7-8 years before I thought to check it out and I've eaten at the majority of restaurants in this town at this point lol. The new location may end up being more accessible and visible, I mean it will have windows now. Their price point is not very expensive at all so that's a great option for some and provides approachability compared to some of the pricier places downtown. I also think they will benefit from people dining out prior to all the CAPA events. My crew is always rotating restaurants prior to our Broadway subscription shows and this will now be a nice addition where we are already parked for the shows. I'm just thinking this perhaps could be a better option in the end and potentially be a new era/life for the business.
  21. As awesome as that old building is and the setup they had inside was quite fun to take in, I'm just glad they are staying, and moving to the downtown/central city at that. I hope they can move a good portion of the fun memorabilia they have. I believe this will be where "The Point on the Park" was located, which actually is a decent sized space on the park there. The reality is now that the old space is prime for a nice large redevelopment where so much is already being built up.
  22. Given that High Street sits quite a bit higher (I supposed pun is intended here) than the river bank, even at 15 stories it will fill in a nice gap, but man going to 20-25 floors would be nice. Just so long as it is a quality build and not like the A&F dormitories across the street.
  23. It's a great space in a prime spot. I always enjoyed it when it was Level.
  24. Walked by this Saturday night after the Crew win!! It was a great proposal/space from what I remember!! Does anyone have the renderings from a while back??
