  1. It really is remarkable how swift this is taking place!! The ripple effects are not even visible yet. Gonna be a fun/crazy few decades of solid business and population growth for the central Ohio area.
  2. The top 3 counties were Delaware,, Franklin and Warren.......I'll be curious to see if Licking makes the top 3 list in the coming years with everything going on with Intel/tech there now.
  3. The only thing I can think of as to why these stunted units they put up against parking garages (which does look much nicer than the alternative) is that perhaps there are studies that windows that close to the garage openings run the risk of allowing more exhaust/chemicals from the garage to enter your unit? Again, just spit balling here, not sure if that is even a factor. In the case of these units, I like that they have the angles on the front of the building, I think that will help to maximize as much as they can additional windows.
  4. With regards to the downtown station proposal, I thought I read somewhere that they were likely going to include a station out on the West side of town before heading on to Springfield. By no means am I train expert here with regards to infrastructure, but could the area by Hollywood Casino be an option? The Camp Chase Trail has tracks that go right along the property on the back end where there is ample space to allow for overflow trains that need stored. I also feel like there is ample space for the "park and ride" option as well. Quick screenshot provided. The red line is the current tracks, yellow highlight is the area they could build up a station/overflow tracks. Purple is the upcoming new hotel and the huge X is obviously the soon to be torn down Westland Mall site.
  5. The bank building will never be torn down, it's way too significant. I'm all for saving at the minimum the facades of the neighboring buildings (similar to how AC hotel on Park Street did) but based on the location of this stretch of buildings, this has major opportunity to go vertical and truly fill in a gap in the skyline between Rife and the justice tower.
  6. I noticed in the interview it mentioned 2 applications. The 3C+D of course but also mentioned the Pitt-Cbus-Chi line. I wasn't aware the Pitt/Chicago line for Columbus had formally been applied for. Do we have this confirmed? That line would open up a ton of options for Columbus outside of Ohio.
  7. No joke I just flew back to Columbus from Denver, and I bring my own seat cushion that I used to use at high school football games. Worst planes ever. We just used up the last of some points we had and will no longer fly with them ever again. By the time you do bags it's so over priced and overrated. You get what you pay for I suppose.
  8. In your article it had the link to the IPA site, but just to their home page. Do you have the link to this data/article? I'm curious where Columbus fell in the mix?
  9. Kind of crazy the medical expansions in the pipeline lately. Grant Riverside Children's (just seems to keep going and going and going) Ohio State/James I was told once that Columbus has 3 or 4 level 1 trauma hospitals which is quite large for a city our size. Glad to see the medical services in this city are on the forefront.
  10. I'm excited for more retail/foot traffic in the future. I think getting past the 20,000 mark will really be a game changer for downtown and then beyond. We are definitely headed in the right direction, just need a few more years of residents/units coming online to get to that tipping point. I thought I read recently they expect downtown to be at 16,500 by like 2025. But again, something about getting to the 20,000 mark I think will be the "sweet spot" for companies like Target to be more ready to pull the trigger on investing.
  11. No joke! I moved here 13 years ago, and lived all around this area and everything you look at is new!!! I feel like people like to take cheap shots at Columbus sometimes, but you can't deny the insane increase in density that has taken place here. People complain non stop of the 5-12 story buildings not being enough, but you cannot discount the infill and connectivity that has happened in the last decade. And with the momentum it's only going to continue!!
  12. Key Towers "twin" to me would be Bank of America Center in Charlotte. I kind of like the roundness and crown/lighting better there but still had same architect.
  13. I'm also blanking, but do we have the official height of this thing? Also, I do like the rendering from High Street. With Hilton and this that whole area is literally so elevated! With the population boom expected over the next 20+ years in Franklin County, you have to wonder if a good handful more of these towers are in the inevitable pipeline.
  14. I'd like to see a rendering more from the West seeing how this looks next to the new Hilton tower.
  15. Full disclosure I haven't been following too far back in this conversation, but the "There is no replacement for NYC" jumped out at me. Perhaps I'm interpreting it wrong, but I just spent some time in Philly for work this last year, and my local colleagues have all said there have been huge influxes of NYC residents buying up property in Philly. Nor sure if Philly is looked at as a more affordable alternative but was just something I found interesting.
  16. I can't see the article, do we have a total for 2022?
  17. Thank you all for the clarification. I knew it had some sort of explanation, but I didn't have time to dig through so many articles while doing my real work haha
  18. I need educated. Is GE Aerospace an entirely separate company from GE? GE is headquartered in Boston correct and I believe ranks 8 on the F500? So by association do we consider GE Aerospace #8?
  19. I think there could be some cool opportunity to do some sort of enhanced light effects/show on the modern "submarine" wings of the building.
  20. Maybe a bit off base, and I'm not really all that familiar with this industry or what they actually do, but perhaps this could be an additional feature with the casino??
  21. I'm not sure this is completed; I believe there will still be framing for a full room/floor behind this.
  22. There a quite a few options really. They could take the retails space fronting the new AC Hotel on Park St. They could also fill a large space in the Edwards development fronting High Street. I like the Edwards option because they are still within blocks of the convention/arena area but also within blocks of Capitol Square. I wouldn't count out future options in Franklinton either, but not sure that's the area they want to be in. I feel like a lot of Steakhouses for some reason stick close to each other. Right now you have Hyde Park, Ruth Chris and Jeff Ruby all 3 surround the convention center. Either way it will be interesting to see where in the downtown area they end up selecting.
  23. I'm just hoping this super delayed part of this investment may finally give the owner/developer of the Westland Mall site the boost they need to follow through on their commitment to actually tear it down. The westside always gets a bad rep, but that chunk of land along the highway is honestly a huge opportunity. By no means another mall, but with the housing shortage we have, they can easily go dense with a mixed use project to compliment the casino across the street. Would truly make the area a potential "destination".
  24. I would hope they are going to add additional convention/theater space so they can host more events/acts. There is plenty of space there. Maybe they're being modest too, maybe they'll end up upping it to 250 rooms.
  25. I suppose it just depends on the footprint. It can go many different directions. For example, the Junto Hotel going up in Franklinton has 198 rooms, while the new AC Hotel on Park Street has 160.
