  1. Not an expert on the logistics and business handlings of airports, but it will be interesting to see what occurs in Columbus in the next 5+ years and expanded flight offerings. Specifically with a completely brand-new airport and the completion of 2 if not 4 Intel Fabs at that point, among quite a few other suppliers inevitably headed to that region.
  2. UK tech firm to open Columbus-area office with 50 jobs A British IT and management consulting firm has chosen metropolitan Columbus for its first Midwest office, citing Central Ohio’s tech talent pool. Based in Leeds, England, the nearly 30-year-old firm has U.S. offices in New York City and Houston, as well as offices in Australia and the European Union. “The Columbus region rose to the top of the list as a strategic tech hub to evaluate,” BJSS Chairman Glynn Robinson said in the release “We found the market to be welcoming and the right environment for us to grow our business.”
  3. Nice idea in theory/economically I suppose, however working with rail companies is sooooooo bad, they are insanely difficult.
  4. I mean, to think people will not have cars in their neighborhood is absurd (not saying you think that, just stating). A good portion of the residents in this area even as it builds out/up will not always have garage covered parking, and to folks that like to keep their cars in good condition from being exposed to the elements from street parking etc, I think a quality car wash business is a good thing. It's an amenity for a developing and growing area of the city preventing local residents from having to drive further away to get the same service.
  5. I've wanted Moo Moo to develop on the westside in the Lincoln Village/Casino area for a while. The Moo Moo option for westside residents is just Hilliard. I'll admit I'll probably end up using this location, so I say bring it on. Right now I either need to go to Hiliard-Rome or 5th Ave in Grandview and it's so congested in both locations it's annoying. Moo Moo has a great business and footprint in Central Ohio.
  6. The way I look at it, with how much infrastructure work and shovels are already moving on this site, it's basically broken ground as it is lol
  7. You're telling me it's not as easy as zoning in SimCity 2000? lol
  8. Gnoraa replied to KJP's post in a topic in Sports Talk
So if I read this correctly this would be a "NEXT Pro" or "Development" team?
  9. I also liked these excerpts showcasing all the other major projects in Columbus: "Labor leaders and state officials acknowledge there’s not currently a pool of 7,000 extra workers in central Ohio, where other current projects include a 28-story Hilton near downtown Columbus, a $2 billion addition to The Ohio State University’s medical center, and a $365 million Amgen biomanufacturing plant not far from the Intel plant." "And that’s not counting at least three new Google and Amazon data centers, plans for a new $200 million municipal courthouse south of downtown Columbus and solar array projects that could require nearly 6,000 construction jobs by themselves." Also a nod to our rapidly growing population BEFORE the Intel announcement.....anyone think the 3M+ metro projection bumps up to an earlier year??? I have a feeling we are going to see quiet a boost in housing construction, which is hard to imagine considering all the construction all over you already see... "Central Ohio is expected to reach 3 million residents by 2050, a rate that would require 11,000 to 14,000 housing units a year. That was before Intel was announced, said Jennifer Noll, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s associate director for community development. Meanwhile, the closest the region came to hitting that goal was in 2020 with 11,000 units."
  10. I really like the mix of materials on the Columbus building. It seems pretty unique and one of kind. The variation of the "terracotta" and glass in an abstract pattern/design is eye-catching and adds color to the skyline. I also really like the base being so angular with all the glass rather than just a glass box. Both are great additions to their respective downtowns though.
  11. Columbus Income Tax Revenue Rebounds Significantly - Workers Return to Offices "Columbus city income tax receipts have rebounded significantly above estimates over the first five months of 2022 as many at-home workers returned to their former offices and workplaces, and they also are being paid on average 11% more than last year, including some workers' bonuses."
  12. So I heard rumors that the rebuild would be of lesser quality, however the actual physical shape, windows, peaks, dormers, etc...all align with the previous building. I was nervous they were going to replace it with something less visually variating and rectangular, so I'm happy about that. Will be interesting to see if they complete it with the brick/stone like before, I really hope so.
  13. Does anyone have a picture of the nearly finished Encova townhomes before they burned down? I just want to see the comparison.
  14. Is the footprint of the building the sunken rectangle portion or will it be larger than that?
  15. Looks like some of the exterior windows/materials are starting...
  16. And Columbus continues to excel at elevating the dining experience...
  17. Vine Street Garage is right there, usually I park there anyways. That garage can fluctuate depending on what's it town as it's shared with the Convention, Hilton and Nationwide but it is open to public parking as well. Perhaps North Market can strike a temporary deal during construction to validate people's parking fee's at Vine.
  18. My guess is they are focused more on downtown buildings. Ohio State's hospital always gets the special mentioning of being the tallest outside of downtown.
  19. With the Hilton 2.0 Tower topped out and the exterior features almost wrapped up, the drive in from the West definitely has expanded the skyline to the North. This tower will only continue that!! Do we know the official height? I believe it will technically be taller than H2.0 and will draw the skyline even further!
  20. I enjoy Buckeye Lake and go often with friends in the summer as well, but totally different vibes. I do enjoy a nice dinner at their winery too. Buckeye Lake caters way more to the wealthier of Columbus it seems like, but it's an awesome closer option for central Ohio residents to enjoy! Grand Lake is also over 4 times larger than Buckeye, so not all of the shoreline feels developed.
  21. It is, right as you're entering town by the light house and directly onto Main Street, all is very walkable to each other. They've also been adding to the newly established Bryson Park District along the lake front in recent years. Still in the early stages but they've added a nice amphitheater, splash pad, playgrounds with more planned each year. Also, as of March they've approved quite the extensive DORA through town. Celina council approves DORA Celina Bryson Park District
  22. Nice Key West inspired development called Boardwalk Village that has been taking shaping along Grand Lake in Celina. I've been watching this progress and having driven by in recent weeks it really adds a nice vibe to the lakefront! Phase 1 of 4 is wrapping up and looks like the Marketplace will be part of the next phase. https://boardwalkvillage.com/
  23. I'm curious if they end up building this rather quickly so they can get the business tenants that will be displaced (Columbus Eyeworks, etc.) at their other taller project across High Street into this building so then they can do their next project.
  24. Anyone have a picture from today or yesterday? I noticed last night while driving that they were installing the "crown" or finishing exterior accents at the top.
