  1. The only reason I knew this was because I had to drop a college girlfriend off there to watch a performance for who knows what class.
  2. These data centers require constant maintenance and are changing quite a bit. I won’t get into details to bore people, but our local contractors who have national footprints and local footprints have to employ other people so it is ancillary jobs that are created. Yes, they may only say 30 but they probably employ 100+ if you include contractors.
  3. No this is honestly one of the weirdest and least appealing “redevelopments” that I can remember. To quote my dad, this development reminds me of “trying to fit 10lbs of sh*t into a 5lb bag.”
  4. Not necessarily, this technically is mixed use considering the hotel, gas station and two food options. This is also desperately needed in that area as workers don’t have any options besides the next exit west and Hilliard Rome. Not the type of development we’d like to see at Grandview Ave & 33, but not a terrible project for the area it’s in.
  5. Really wish they could bury every overhead line as well. It would basically just be an additional pipeline and would help secure the grid from Mother Nature, etc.
  6. Northland/Morse/161 never had a business presence like Chase brings to Polaris. While I somewhat agree this is absolutely necessary for the regions growth. Not everyone wants to live in the urban core and that’s ok. I can’t imagine what central Ohio is going to look like in 10 years. There is housing going up in a lot of traditional exurbs like Mount Vernon, Zanesville, Chillicothe and London. Even reaching out further to Mansfield, Ashland. It’s a great time to be in the state of Ohio.
  7. They’re building a new exit… not that it’ll help much but it will at minimum slightly improve
  8. Couldn’t agree more, something in the background going on for sure.
  9. I agree, want to see the best come here regardless. But many on this forum simply want it to fail, period. To me they’re some of the most asinine takes I’ve ever read. If you want such a boom to our collective economy to fail then just leave the area.
  10. Rallying for this projects downfall is just weird to me.
  11. I think you would be surprised, idk how long the taxiway will be but I’m willing to bet it’ll cost at least $10-$20mil.
  12. They ran with the Reuters story, this is very similar to what happened with Google locally and less than two weeks later they announced they were just diverting it to the south side complex. Just lazy journalism honestly.
  13. This might be the fastest moving project in the city. Impressive considering the weather.
  14. *or 270… which a lot of people do use coming from the North and South to bypass downtown Doing that on the western side of the outerbelt shows a lot of growth
  15. Kids are at school, aftercare, daycare, etc as well. I would say it’s 50/50 for the average family. But really I’m just talking about something that we’re all exposed to regardless of where we live.
  16. In retrospect what’s the difference in living or working there? You’re spending 8-10 hours working and 8-10 hours living in the same spots. Pollution is going to happen regardless in my opinion.
  17. Depends on who you ask. RTW is picking up steam and to be honest the suburbs haven’t felt the pressure as much as the core of cities, at least here in Columbus/Ohio.
  18. Curious to see the site plan for this one, it’s a prime location. Going to be very interesting over the next decade to see what happens in that area. A lot of land at Tuttle and the redevelopment north of there is going to completely transform that whole area.
  19. My in laws live in the Tidewater area and do go to them. But still frequent Aldi more due to familiarity. I’ve only been to one in the Raleigh area just to check it out. I also didn’t know they were in the Charleston area. When I was going there a lot for work I never saw them so I wonder if they opened within the past 2-3 years. That being said it looks like they’ve chosen the 95ish corridor to grow. Outside of that Charlotte, Greenville(which must be new too) are relatively close and not too far away from the others. Completely understandable for trying to enter a new country/market.
  20. Is that insider info on them? They're so randomly placed throughout NC. That’s the only place I’ve seen them, I know they’re in the Delmarva area too.
  21. That corridor from Tuttle to Target is fairly dense though for suburban development. It’s also pretty diverse since they’ve added some light commercial/industrial at Davidson & Trueman/Edwards Farms.
  22. Really wish Ohio Health would’ve gone all in and started a campus revision with this building. They could really prime themselves as what they are and that’s one of two level 1 trauma centers for our region. I understand the investment in their largest facility; but they also take up a large portion of downtown with Grant. They could’ve put forward a Cleveland Clinic-esque plan to transform that area and redo the campus as a whole over the past 10-20, even 30 years at this point. But what we're left with is hodgepodge of buildings.
  23. OKC is laughable, Indy is who we’re trying to outpace. Striving to be more like Austin and Nashville is what people mean. I’ve personally never seen or heard anyone trying to compare us to Charlotte. We only trail Austin by 300-400k people, a huge number yes. The real number for Austin is probably more like 4mil+ because of how close San Antonio is becoming and probably why they compare themselves to the Metroplex.
  24. Yea that’s more the problem, much like everything else. Jess Howard is the only local contractor working on the airport for example. A lot of developers aren’t moving forward because the contractors available are extremely limited.
