  1. But they also haven’t lost residents, which similar areas(which there really aren’t any) have not. This is not an apples to apples scenario.
  2. That’s because it’s in Dayton which hasn’t grown since the 60’s. Columbus started growing then.
  3. I’ll toss my hat in there as one of those people too… I actually just saw my first Rivian truck in the wild today, not bad
  4. I think you’re off on that by about 5 years.
  5. Not sure where else to put this but Intel’s CEO will be giving the commencement speech at Ohio State.
  6. There have been several NCAA championships and major UFC events there as recently as right before the pandemic. It’s a great place to watch a basketball game, I really wish OSU would try to lure the B1G championship or go after the MAC championship(long shot bc of the conference being based in Cleveland).
  7. You think that’s overkill, go to Buffalo and try not to trip over a Tim Hortons 🤣🤣🤣
  8. I think you and @Toddguyare reading way too much into this haha
  9. I know 79 once you get past the car dealership isn’t even close to busy despite there being a lot of business in that area.
  10. I second this, I’m there quarterly at minimum visiting a customer. There is so much room on 79 to attract business and its very close to 70. I’m honestly surprised Licking didn’t blow up before Delaware. Although I have to admit I like Licking County as a whole better than Delaware.
  11. I don’t necessarily believe that, I think they couldn’t secure funding.
  12. The one in Grandview just needs removed period, in literally the worst spot. I will say across 71 needs a grocery store whether it be Kroger or GE. This is a food desert until you get to Morse. Yes there is an Aldi and IGA but really nothing else but corner stores.
  13. An Indigo makes perfect sense here, their new build ones are decent probably on the higher end of the Hampton(my preferred, I’m about a 150/night per year person) spectrum. I’ve stayed in a couple of them over the years and they’ve been fine. Just looking at their(Indigos) portfolio they have several that are labeled with the near by university. There are too many Holiday Inn’s close and Hampton wouldn’t move that close either. I also am not sure the city would allow a “budget” brand in this area.
  14. It could end up being a Hotel Indigo, there currently isn’t one in Columbus and it’s a part of IHG and about equal to or greater than a Hampton or Hilton Garden Inn. I could see that fitting into this location and market.
  15. Interesting…. I thought that lot was supposed to be part of the AC project.
  16. Some of the things I heard about the demise could be made into a Netflix documentary.
  17. Sorry all, I meant Mound… must’ve had Franklinton on the mind!
  18. I took advantage of their $12/year digital subscription a month or so ago. This project looks way more realistic but I’m not hopeful considering who is proposing it. Light commercial flex looks to be the “mixed use” section and a DC towards the southeastern section of the property, split by proposed housing. The front along Broad looks to be strip mall-esque just fronted to the street. I glanced over it and looked at the plans and still can’t figure out what the paved event space will be for 🤷🏻‍♂️.
  19. Relatively affordable living, land, etc. Along with access to one of the largest research universities in the country, Cbus WAS a hidden gem until the SOTU. Ohio in general is on fire at the moment, GM’s push for EV’s is going to have a large impact as well. About the only negative I’ve heard is a power plant closing in Eastern Ohio and Peleton scrapping their plans for NW OH.
  20. I mean people were opposed to it at the old K-Mart on Bethel and that lies fully in the city of Columbus. Powell is a bedroom community, plain and simple.
  21. But do you live there? Why is it of such concern? I don’t particularly like Powell either, but it being different is ok. Density is not for everyone and every situation. The bold section of your response is what I’m responding to because it’s a bit off. You’re entitled to your opinion but that seems pompous, if this was in the urban core like the HV GE redevelopment I would get it, but this is 20 miles from there.
  22. Have neither one of you been to downtown Powell? Yes, it may not be dense but it’s similar to Worthington.
  23. Again they can’t afford for them to go offline…(I think that’s BS btw) considering they’re making sophomores live on campus(more BS because I know plenty of relatives who have skipped this)… long and short something needs to be done, it’s been about 10-12 years since I was in one of them to get a new BuckID and Morrill wasn’t in good shape then, can’t imagine how dated they are now
  24. I’m sure there have been studies to justify this project. I was just looking at it and Detroit to Charleston there is about a 50 mile difference taking 23 versus 75 and cutting across in Knoxville. About 100 mile difference heading to Hilton Head/Savannah and then onto Florida.
  25. I don’t disagree with you, but with Amazon and others upping their game with next day delivery expectations that’s why I believe trucks and being a distribution hub play more of a factor. Your scenario plays out for those in central Ohio, but it won’t stop the traffic from NW Ohio and Michigan from using that route to get to the east coast and southeast.
