Delaware County: Developments and News
wpcc88 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt’s more about the commerce than the people. Columbus is a distribution hub and trucks clog the current route. Freight rail traffic has steadily been increasing but it’s still not enough.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
wpcc88 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOk and then where are they going to have their fancy tailgates? Also that particular side is where the broadcast trucks park along with the visiting teams buses and equipment trucks. Again it’s a pipe dream for that to ever go away. Maybe when or if the St. John’s redevelopment happens.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
wpcc88 replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThose UDF’s saw me through my best and worst of times, but I agree and believe it’s inevitable. I think similar to what they became in Short North would be appropriate.

Columbus: Harrison West: Thurber Village Developments and News
It doesn’t currently have a drive thru though, unless something has changed as far as I know it hasn’t since I can remember for the past 16 years. Funny that it says they have one on their website.

Honestly, it would be better if they simply flipped what they proposed. Front the apartment buildings to Neil with ground floor retail and put the less dense spots in the back. It would help with traffic and “wall” off Neil. I'm telling you guys, I can almost guarantee they have that unmarked building leased or at least tentatively leased. My guess is either Giant Eagle is finally out of their agreement or they’re the customer and going to be putting in a small foot print again. That one in Grandview is ridiculously busy and that’s before thousands more units come online in the next 6 months-3 years. Doesn’t make sense to put one in the A-D anymore like they proposed for the site where Chipotle now stands.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Newark has everything any 270 suburb has and for a better price. Ok, maybe not a Whole Foods/TJ but if you’re that desperate Easton is 20 minutes. I personally think Pataskala is doing itself a disservice by not trying to attract some of those similar amenities and letting the Etna warehouses encroach. I think we see that change here in the near future after this announcement. I also think despite this being on the other side of 16 that the area south of 16 is where the growth will come from this project. If you look in Pataskala, Etna, Hebron, Granville, etc, that’s where the land is for sale. Along with far south eastern Delaware County, you’ll see parts of Fairfield and Knox grow, so yes it’s going to technically “shape” a large part of Ohio considering 5 counties in this metro are fairly close. That being said a commute to even areas like Zanesville is not bad from where this is located. Mansfield as someone mentioned isn’t either. I’ve known people who’ve commuted from Medina to work in Columbus and people who live in Youngstown who’ve worked in Cleveland. If the opportunity is right people will make sacrifices. When I was calling on people strictly in Ohio there were days when I would work my way from Wooster or Springfield/Dayton or Marietta and back to Columbus. It’s not an oddity by any means.

My guess is the unmarked building is already leased by an unnamed grocery tenant. I don’t love it either but nobody here that lives in the area can deny that it’s been a need ever since Giant Eagle closed. With the addition of even more elderly and younger people to the neighborhood it makes sense.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
wpcc88 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSort of a reply to both of your replies. I did go off of beds because if not I would think TMC is the largest in the world by a mile. Much of the info I found gave me beds throughout a system and not just at a “main” campus. Example Texas Children’s is the largest pediatric hospital in the US(maybe world) with close to 1,000 beds(about the size of Riverside). Not really sure how to get exacts and unfortunately don’t have the time, I may try over the weekend.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
wpcc88 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI think we covered this way back or that may have been height. Total beds Wexner on one site is top 3-5 if not 1-2 when complete. *Total area belongs to Texas Medical Center by a long shot. Despite it being made up of several different institutions it covers 4 square miles.

The property is big enough that they could do underground parking and build big on top.

They had one 20 and about 10 years ago, not to mention the one that hit the Beavercreek area also included the township of the same name which is adjacent to Xenia proper.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
I'm not trying to sound like a smarta** here but I can’t stress enough how many people were coming in and out of town for Facebook alone. That combined with all the other business that this will attract will necessitate more capacity at the airports. Because as mentioned, where there’s big business there are suppliers like Showa and others for Honda. Johnstown already has a nice established industrial park on the other side of town from this, I would expect some of that action to fall to this side(along with some wealthier farmers).

New Albany: New Albany International Business Park / Silicon Heartland
I can’t speak to the rinsing part but I know that the temperature of the various materials have to be regulated. As does the HVAC system in the clean rooms and both are where the cooling towers and boilers come into play, more so the cooling towers. For a facility this large both of our examples would use tons of water.

Probably for the boilers and cooling towers working to keep the machines/plant cool. It’s not just in chip manufacturing but plastics do require more than most, pretty much every manufacturing plant and a lot of institutions run them as well.

Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
wpcc88 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDone, but I wasn’t speaking just about race. People can be intolerant about a lot of things besides that and that’s what I meant @jeremyck01. Age and class are the two that come to mind in this case. So I would argue that I’m correct in what I said based on those two categories in this case.

Maybe they knew their project would be too far down the list to take advantage of the new credits and decided to table it until this year or next.
