  1. Heard it’s going to be a new Mexican concept called ‘Blanco Castillo.’
  2. I can’t wait for that Harrison building to come down. Every college town seems to have that one building that they always try to polish up but it’s still a turd, this is ours.
  3. It’s not 100% facts though, that area is pretty much unrecognizable since IKEA opened. It just doesn’t get as much pub as the other areas of town but just drive around and you’ll notice.
  4. It will happen eventually but cost of living isn’t exactly in our favor anymore unless we’re pulling from the east coast or Chicago.
  5. To be fair I’ve been going to Sheetz since around 2002, they’ve lost their luster for me. I prefer get-go to them all judging strictly by their pepperoni roll offerings. UDF has the best ice cream and their UDF equivalent to Dr Pepper was my go to in college or when I get a craving for pop. But if you’ve never been to a Buc-ee’s then you’ve never lived, that place is crazy and they serve true Texas bbq even at the ones in Florida!
  6. From Walsh’s page on LinkedIn, interesting that this is their first project (to my knowledge) in Columbus and one of a very few into the state of Ohio. They’re a big player and my guess will only get bigger in our market which is a good thing.
  7. One of the more under appreciated areas of downtown… really neat little pocket over there and a ton of infill over the past decade.
  8. Where/when did you hear that the Harmony project was dead?
  9. Am I incorrect in saying that they’re trying to make it a two way? If that’s the case a light will be put at Park & Spruce making in arterial. I know exactly where it is and know exactly what a log jam that intersection is pre-Covid and even currently. It flows from 670, so again how is it not?
  10. The main issue is the direct access from 670 is via Spruce and I believe that’s where the log jam would occur. That is why it 100% is a main artery for that neighborhood. To be fair I don’t hate your idea I just don’t think in this situation 30 yards of a plaza is really going to move the needle.
  11. IMO that’s fantasy… you want to add say 1,000 avg more people to an already congested area and cut off a main traffic artery… that would be a logistical disaster
  12. Took the words right out of my mouth.
  13. The ones at 1st & Summit have windows that are sort of at/below grade as well I believe so it wouldn’t be new.
  14. Yet they just broke ground on a 1,000+ unit project in suburban Austin. I don’t disagree that these three have been a mess but they also were a massive undertaking in a new segment for them.
  15. A ton of good existing stock there that could be redeveloped as well. The building next to Restaurant Equippers is one that comes to mind. This proposal is for the old Byers correct?
  16. Yes and no as he was well connected prior. They probably just told him to “prove it.”
  17. The quality of his builds has gone up as well. I was very vocal about this 7-10 years ago but he’s stepped up his game.
  18. Makes sense… all of the equipment on ORR says underground work
  19. This needs to get done, the tax credits and everything line up to get this across the finish line finally. No more excuses.
  20. It’s no worse or better than anything on south campus, at least it has some interesting features.
  21. Replying to you both, I still think it’s affordable for a lot more people than most existing homes right next door in Bexley or Gahanna. Honestly even Eastmoor has similar soft homes priced higher than $240k, if you can find one.
  22. Have you seen the prices of homes in Central Ohio and for that matter rent?
  23. Its looked like infrastructure work based on the equipment. What kind of infrastructure, I have no clue.
  24. Again don’t 100% disagree but there have been a ton that have popped up between the AD and Olentangy corridor in the past 3-5 years that service both of those areas. By my count 7 including the one on Lane in UA, 9 if you count the Hilton addition and 15th(which you’re right I believe that will not be run by OSU). Edit to say: an additional 9 in the past 10 years, my parameters were Nationwide to Lane Ave and “hotel village” over by University Village. That’s a lot of rooms in a decade.
