  1. This thing is going to be gigantic; also going to be interesting to see it from the shoe. ”Site-prep” has taken roughly 3 years and I haven’t seen a timeframe. Are we talking 2023? It felt like the James went up quick and then the interior took a while, so maybe 2024 all said and done?
  2. Interesting that you bring them up, they were hot and heavy about 3-4 years ago in Central Ohio as far as hiring and scouting locations. Yet they don't have a single location. I've seen them in Atlanta and Charlotte, but have never ventured inside.
  3. Deleted my last sentence because you were right in that respect, just wanted to give people more insight on the distance aspect of how and where they choose to put a store.
  4. That's both incorrect and correct. They essentially use a co-op to purchase from vendors, other than that they operate separately. From my understanding they do have a development agreement that Trader Joe's don't operate within a certain distance of one another.
  5. I almost want to move to Clintonville just to join the commission and stir the pot. They want to attract young families but balk at improving the neighborhood at every turn.
  6. To the OP, 35 feels like 60 on those streets and unfortunately it probably won’t change. @ Todd.. when I moved to Cbus in ‘06 those areas between campus and downtown until about 1st were still super sketchy. There was a murder at 1st & 4th I want to say around ‘07. And I literally witnessed a shoot out early afternoon outside of Weiland Park Elementary in about ‘08. Fast forward to about ‘12 and all of that seemed to abruptly end and started this new era. Meanwhile most of Weiland Park still is a pretty diverse community as far as income is concerned and has become much much safer. All good things, hopefully it remains the same. I think you still have at minimum 5-10 years of that style community. There is still a ton of subsidized housing in that area. Which honestly is great, especially for young lower income families.
  7. This project is going to be like the duck on water analogy for the next couple of months. Yea the elevator core will rise above the water but the foundation will be paddling like crazy underneath it. Going to be a very cool project to watch, mainly because we don’t get a ton of subterranean action in Cbus.
  8. How the hell does the city allow this type of sh*t to happen!?
  9. I believe that’s the Lev’s Pawn Shop guy, didn’t realize he owned properties in OTE too.
  10. I personally never had a great meal there; I like the NorthStar comparison, but I would prefer the latter. Atmosphere is good, just overall not much to write home about.
  11. Did Townhall ever open period? Every time I’ve gone by it looked closed. I don’t care for it in Cleveland so never attempted to go in Cbus.
  12. I'd love if we got a MAC football game in there, maybe OU plays a game per season in Cbus? I think it would be cool; BG and Buffalo played at Crew Stadium in 2012. I think OU would resonate better with the local crowd on an OSU bye week.
  13. Serious solution, if they put one here the city should fight to put an Aldi on Parsons(this also fits their corporate model). I love both places equally, actually prefer Aldi over most places. Closest one is on High near 270, it would crush it on Parsons and end a food desert.
  14. It’s a really awkward plot of land though with the right of way and hold out of the neighbor.
  15. Yea that’s a total loss then, not just for the fire but the water as well.
  16. There was at one time a rumor that an urban Target was landing here but I’m not sure what happened to that. You’d think that would spark a ton of foot traffic in the area.
  17. #1.. what the hell is a Lum’s!? ??? #2. Have no fear, less than 0% chance that becomes a surface lot.
  18. Has to be a total loss right? Buildings these days unfortunately aren't really made to survive something as dramatic as that fire.
  19. Yea I don't disagree with you or @VintageLife just was saying I wouldn't bet on anything drastically better than the James. Height & size-wise it will be impressive no doubt.
  20. I wouldn't get your hopes up unfortunately; I think it's going to be a differently positioned version of the James.
  21. North Bank for sure did, I worked as a valet across the street during that construction. Hilton 1.0 may have, don't remember the construction of that one too well. Children's may have but if you're talking about the recent addition to Riverside it did not have one. If you're talking about the heart hospital addition it may have but I remember it being attached to the original building.
  22. Good catch, you're correct. I think this will be the first one since the Wexner was built.
  23. I know we've been growing at a pretty solid clip pre-Covid and honestly continuing throughout. But to me this will be the catalyst to the next step. Why you ask? Granted this project is not as tall but when I first went to Austin back in early 2011 "The Austonian" had just been completed and the city was on the verge of a dramatic change. Fast forward to 2016 and 23 buildings 15 stories or taller have been constructed in "downtown" Austin. We've had an influx of 10+ stories in recent years and now have 6 proposed/under construction. If this building takes off expect the Market Tower, Capital Square and "Millennial" to follow suit. Probably even 2-3 that we don't see coming. That combined with the Scioto Peninsula project and we are still poised to explode, sit back and enjoy development lovers!
  24. I agree it’s presence is much bigger than I expected.
  25. Yes, I actually mean a pig. I haven’t taken a pic of it recently because it’s lost it’s “wow” factor to me and it’s not put often but I’ll try and dig an old one up and post it.
