  1. We've looked at the first development and that's more our speed. We've also looked at the option of an existing home with more land and just remodeling or rebuilding as an option. Personal reasons have our hands tied at the moment but 2021 is what we're pushing for at the earliest, unless a killer deal pops up.
  2. Thats what attracts me to it, I grew up with hills and want them and space again. We’re either going to be looking south of Granville, east of Pataskala or Alexandria area. Ideally I’d like to be off of 37, more Hebron area for better access to both 161/70. Best of both worlds for our families.
  3. I love Licking County, didn't hear great things about it when I first moved to Central Ohio in 2006. Then my territory included the whole county along with Knox and others starting in 2012. I've since convinced my bride through many drives and zillow searches; we are looking at building or buying there before we start our family. We have big dogs and are looking to add some different animals(and hopefully toys) to the family so Short North isn't feasible anymore, even though one of our neighbors has a pig.
  4. To me it looks as though they are planning a convention space of sorts in the building that fronts Broad; that would be a HUGE win in my opinion.
  5. When the Chipotle building and lots behind this project get filled in it's going to look VERY dense from 670.
  6. I've thought about the future of offices a ton during this whole thing and I think this is the resolution. There will be a lot of people who will ask for and be granted the ability to work from home here and into the future. I think companies have seen that it can work and save them a ton of money. On the other hand I think you will see companies that have to be in the office keep the demand flat to a slight increase as they try to space their workforce out at least in the near term.
  7. Most is all purpose cleaner, so yes an effective disinfectant.
  8. Every gym I’ve ever been in has cleaning stations setup in multiple areas. The only thing would be the “breath transmission” that you mentioned. Even then I think health freaks would be willing to take that risk.
  9. I've been in an airport since this has gone down, I think air travel will come back quicker than most believe. Also have been in Savannah for most of this quarantine, this weekend had several more people out exploring than in weeks past. Bars are serving to-go so people are just walking around taking in the sites. Granted it's still down probably 65% and a unique situation but still. Casinos & Concert Venues are going to take the brunt of this over the next few months. Restaurant's & hotel's will see a slight tick back by July & August. Most people have booked & paid for vacations already, don't see everyone cancelling. We have friends that run a vacation rental business in SC, they've only lost 10% and most were during spring break aka the peak. I would expect DeWine to announce gyms will fall in line with restaurants on the 21st or the following Monday some time this week.
  10. A lot of those support retailers such as the TJ Maxx/Homegoods/Marshalls group, etc. A lot of those have closed until very recently which is probably why you saw the decline for the time being. As those begin to open back up I was assume you'll see both numbers go down.
  11. Wasn’t the one across from NWA there for 2-3 seasons?
  12. Apologies for the misinformation it was a rumor amongst people that work there I guess.
  13. I don’t disagree that an extra 10k people downtown would be nice but you could argue that for every company that has a suburban campus(Cardinal, L Brands, Wendy’s). Also you obviously have every right to be disappointed. I was more suggesting an ignorance to the situation as whole. It was actually a pretty fiscally responsible move out of BankOne/Chase. The company had a large presence in the area already; unless it’s closed or moved they had a large facility further east off of Schrock. Along with the main BankOne building downtown. I think you seem most upset about the city annexing that area from Delaware County as it was still a hot button issue when I moved to Columbus in 2006. And this is where we reach a gray area in our conversation. Yes, city incentives can get annoying and cause rifts(especially in this case when you’re talking about giving them to a bank). However the taxes brought in by the employees and the shot in the arm the Polaris area as we know it has brought in over past 20 years far supersedes those breaks given out in my opinion. To me(despite not loving the idea of sprawl that much either) it turned out to be a good investment overall.
  14. The building was a failed first attempt at Polaris. It was foreclosed on by Bank One which turned it into office space.
  15. It was intended to be a mall and to complain about it now is kind of ignorant considering how much it means to Central Ohio’s economy. Chase could’ve easily packed up and shipped all those jobs to a southern state and not thought twice about it.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept that, it has more to do with store operations than the HQ. A lot of companies maintain those type of "regional" offices when the HQ is right down the road. edit to say: I wouldn't be surprised if any training that took place in that building moved to HQ though.
  17. Does the flagship store on High Street not count? It's a mile and a half away; CNBC filmed a story on the company inside of that location as well.

Having spent a lot of time in the south this past year any of you folks that think you’re going to escape this moving there, beware of paper mills. Charleston & Savannah have the stench of them; along with their horse drawn tours, think New Orleans.
  19. I believe you’re correct, but this was the one that was heavier on the back end of the development. My biggest issue was the Price side, they tried to play it off as if Price were a two way street. Also the details on that side and the ability of Kaufman to execute on the finished product. SN is not a place that you can cut corners; it’s our cities premier neighborhood and I’m not sure if Kaufman gets that(despite their offices being here). Again, not anti-development or anti-density. Kaufman tried to pull a fast one and many opposed it. That being said, I highly doubt this new submission gets approved either. Kaufman is again being petty, but all most people want them to do is develop the site appropriately for all parties.
  20. I’m really curious as to where most live that were in favor. Prime example is the comments on these type of announcements on Facebook via CU or other media outlets. Most of the people opposed to development live in Newark or Dublin and truly don’t get what you’re saying. Trust me I get it, this is literally one of two(3 if you count the Lane Ave Gateway project) that I’ve ever been opposed to in 13 years of living in Columbus(all but 4 of those in SN/VV/IV). I also get the housing issues, but these aren’t going to be “affordable” which is the overlying problem. Subtracting 34 units is also not going to change anything in the grand scheme of things. I too fight to make our city better, but I also want to do that within reason. I stood up for my neighbors as I would hope they would for me. I didn’t believe the project was appropriate, I cited examples of the developers good and bad qualities, ultimately it was shelved in favor of this new plan. I think some neighbors didn’t act right and I think the same of Kaufman. I just really hope they make this their best project yet or they’ll be blocked out again.
  21. I don’t think I spoke to a single person that was opposed to the lot being redeveloped. Literally not a single one, not one of them called for single family homes to be built versus an apartment block. So you’re off base with your response.
  22. We’re going to go round and round on this, as a property owner in the neighborhood(even though not on the street) I spoke out and won. This ONE development was not going to solve the affordable housing problem in the city. To suggest that like you did is laughable. In the end Kaufman is developing the land and I hope they can pull it off better than their other work. Gravity & 600 Goodale look great but they cut corners as discussed in the Franklinton thread. You can’t cut corners in Short North and it go unnoticed. I have spoken my peace, feel free to respond but nothing is changing.
  23. Density was not the issue for many; the development will be dense regardless and for that everyone should be happy.
  24. It was height/density for this particular project. I was vehemently opposed because of who was building it as well(mentioned in another response so I won’t rehash). The main thing is that none of the neighbors were opposed to development itself. They were opposed to significant height looming over their homes, which I found to be an appropriate argument. This development could and should be around 6 stories and will still have a major impact on the area. In fact most of them said that and were in favor of that. Kaufman was the one who ran away pouting because they didn’t get their way. However in terms of developers they’re still relatively new to the neighborhood and needed to act as such. Many of the homeowners on both streets had been there for decades. And AGAIN were/are not opposed to development. I think Kaufman is now doing the right thing and all parties involved are going to come away happy. Which is the best possible outcome.
  25. You're thinking of the old lodge bar lot. It’s going to happen, just a matter of time.
