@cbussoccer thanks for posting, almost forgot what the old Short North looked like, love it so much more now!
  2. I would think for good reason, 33 is a heavily traveled road and dirty. Probably best for all parties involved and fits the mold for the area. Not really a need for heavy urbanism in this area yet and the outlots seem big enough to make that change if necessary in the future.
  3. The whole plan: http://www.new-avenue.net/Projects/Projects/Multi-Family/Grandview-Crossing-(Mixed-Use-Development)
  4. Mehh.. http://www.new-avenue.net/Projects/Projects/Multi-Family/Battelle-(Mixed-Use-Development)
  5. BINGO! I understand not keeping the middle part because of the addition, however the top would've at least made the building look "modern."
  6. I kind of hate that they took the faux metal trim off the top of the Graduate Hotel, it looks bland and out of place.
  7. Go to a city council meeting and voice your opinion.
  8. I hear ya, not from Dayton but I can about the Buckeye state as a whole, I go past it frequently in Atlanta and often think what might have been.
  9. I think filling in the parking lots in both locations is a win for Cleveland and Columbus. The Public Square development has been a rumor for 20+ years in Cleveland and the Peninsula in Columbus for 10+ years. Overall the 3 C's have a ton to be proud of when it comes to urban development. Really wish NCR and GE would've stepped up at the Banks a decade ago; NCR just moving to Cincinnati versus Atlanta would've been a huge win for SW Ohio. Their HQ in Atlanta is very impressive! https://www.architectmagazine.com/project-gallery/ncr-world-headquarters
  10. They should collaborate with Kaufman on that site. A Hubbard Park Place-esque development would be appropriate with the IBEW site and a prominent building at High & Price. *Edit to say: I was VERY outspoken about my disapproval of HPP, but it was knocked out of the park, well built and fits into the neighborhood well IMO. Equally outspoken on the IBEW proposal by Kaufman, but HPP would be a best of both worlds scenario for them. A collab with Woods would be a home run if they can do a 10+ story building on the corner versus hovering over homes in the neighborhood. I think an overall plan like that would be a win, win for all parties(developers, neighborhood and residents) involved.
  11. Biz-First used to be in name only when it came to development, thanks to CU. However that's completely flipped and kudos to BF, however CU isn't as favorable overall compared to some of the other publications in town. I've never really had an issue per say with Walker, but I know a lot of people do and that can't help. And it wasn't from their reporting over there because I think even when I disagree with them they're fair, he just couldn't step away from talking down to people on social media.
  12. Thank you for posting these, however this was pretty bad work on CU's part. They posted a picture in Victorian Village of the apartment project between Thurber & Michigan Ave's during this "update" even though the project has been stalled for almost two years.
  13. Ginther may only have this time, he isn't as favorable with a lot of business folks in the city like Coleman was, though he is a puppet so who knows! Coleman, despite his own issues, really knew how to play the game and was a great mayor for all IMO.
  14. This unfortunately is on Front, but I agree Not as a direct reply but 500 S Front is 12 stories; 15 would fit in right across the street.
  15. This happened I believe on Friday, I drove past Thursday and it wasn't there, then again on Sunday and noticed it for the first time.
  16. Laugh all you want but it’s kind of needed...
  17. I would say pompous more than jerk face, good for you though! Some people don’t have that opportunity, but good luck bussing to Easton, Dublin or Polaris in the snow should your career ever take you there!
  18. Just tossing my two cents in; I think at even the current height this is going to be noticeable from 70, 670 & 315. If they go higher on the end caps it’s going to be VERY noticeable. I do like that they’re challenging them with the architecture here. It’s almost as if they said “listen we both know you stole this land, give us something worthwhile in return.” That is something they can’t necessarily say in Short North or Downtown proper.
  19. When I lived in Tampa(at a relatives home) the kids used golf carts to go trick-or-treating. This happens in Central Ohio as well. Personally our next move will be to a place where we will probably need to do that, but it’s a two fold of our interests and hobbies require more land and cost of living. However at the present time we have about 8ft and a shared fence separating us from our neighbors and that’s fine too. I personally would hate to see sprawl spread too far from 270. There is a ton of open land within its bounds that can be filled in first, if you don’t believe me look at the southwest and south sides.
  20. I hear what you're saying but ultimately some people will want to spread out, Grandview as a whole is such a unique situation because of it's boundaries and the grey areas of what's what essentially. Point being I wouldn't put money on more than 15% of the workforce at the Nationwide offices living within 3-5 miles of those buildings, most commute in because they either can't afford the area or already had homes elsewhere. Younger/new talent may in the future, but just my small sample size of 15 or so friends that work there, 2 live in "Grandview" and zero live in Grandview Yard. In fact we know more people that work for Limited that live in the Yard and commute to Easton.
  21. The main point is the traffic, believe it or not even Goodale has become in a way somewhat of a nightmare at all times of the day under the railroad tracks. This could be because of 3rd, but mainly it is because it's the easiest way to access all of the highways, not only for GV Yard but also for the businesses along Goodale and the northern part of downtown. 1,500+ residents and employees of Nationwide, combined with the Giant Eagle traffic and 200-300 residents of the apartments that have sprung up between 3rd & 5th have overwhelmed the infrastructure as is and honestly I don't even think the additional lanes on 3rd are going to make that much of a difference.
  22. I frequently knock Kaufman, but they hit this one out of the park!
  23. That is one hell of a find! Love that someone at Nationwide had a vision of Short North 40-50 years ago!
  24. Might have to go digging but initially they were aiming for big box stores to round out the 3rd Ave area. Still could be a possibility across from the building that holds the "Brekkie Shack." But I'll be curious to see what they do with the area south of Goodale, that's a tight site and could be more apt for a taller building with views of downtown, if so I think that could be a win for this project. I actually like what they did with the neighborhood portion, not exactly many areas for new builds in Grandview, it was smart to do that in my opinion. They've also kept the area fairly dense so they too feel like the rest of Grandview and even Vic Village area.
