  1. This is utterly disappointing, my guess is they received some push back from property owners and folded. The Schottensteins could've left a very significant mark on the city with this project and yet again they have failed us.
  2. I am as well but if that hotel across the street ends up happening I think it will help with the transition. Also that corner by Kroger getting even a one story with two story height would help as well.
  3. The old Wash & Tan is now long forgotten..
  4. So definitely another apartment building going up next to Nationwide's expansion... also curious to see what is going to happen on the two lots on the west end.. a lot of dirt is being moved there right now
  5. Here it is...
  6. Up and running today! Pics or it didn't happen! Unfortunately I saw it too late, but the cables were moving I promise haha
  7. They were doing foundation work today, pilings and excavation.
  8. Up and running today!
  9. They've got a ton done on this already, kind of shocking. I assume they started yesterday but man what progress!
  10. ^ Probably a long shot, but no harm in trying. However, even if Central Ohio doesn't get Amazon's 2nd HQ, they'll still get a bunch more data centers. Amazon announced plans to add up to 12 more data centers to the three it started running a year ago in Central Ohio: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2017/11/10/amazon-plans-to-expand-to-15-central-ohio-data.html I think we have a better shot than most cities in the midwest outside of Chicago.. plenty of land, plenty of existing business/infrastructure, a sufficient work force.. I think Columbus will make at minimum the final 10, if not final 4 candidates
  11. I think a lot of actual gangs have become involved as well which has lead to the market becoming tighter and these may be turf wars. I'm not an expert by any means but I watch or ready the news every day even when traveling and it seems to me that there are a high number of drive-bys which just screams turf war. I think both of these posts explain some of it. The CPD mentioned the higher number of double homicides this year, but I wonder if actual non-fatal shootings are up as well-I have not found the stats for that. It does seem like everything has ratcheted up now, as if Cbus is sort of 'catching up' to some other areas. I have watched Indy's murder rate skyrocket over the last few years compared to that of Cbus and wondered what was the difference between us and them? Well maybe we just needed time to catch up and have the same factors get to the same levels. We really need to try to do something about this opioid epidemic-the city does not need this-nobody does. I haven't a clue what the answers are though I admit. I think I would be ignorant to ignore the gentrification aspect as well.
  12. This building is almost complete less than a month later.

  14. Well a number of places had no winter and they are actually down from last year. I think it is more than that(although yeah, mild winters usually lead to more crime I do agree in theory). Columbus has long been know as a crossroads for the drug trade among other things. There was a mysterious murder just this afternoon on second that just screams drugs. A man found dead in the doorway of a home, cars with Florida plates, do the math. As a matter of fact rapper Cam'ron has a song entitled "I Used To Get It In Ohio" the video was filmed in Columbus, not the only time he mentions the state. He also used to own a nightclub in Ohio, although I believe he still does have some affiliation. A lot of the drugs that enter the east coast come from Columbus. Same with a lot of the drugs that enter our smaller communities. Every time there is a drug arrest in eastern Ohio the Steubenville and Wheeling, WV area; it's always someone from Cleveland or Columbus, with the majority coming from Cleveland. To the average citizen that is paying attention to these things, it's very easy to connect the dots. I only know these things because I do listen to the music and have often looked into why Cam'ron was giving shoutouts to Ohio in his songs. Not in any way blaming them for what is going on because Cardinal Health is just as responsible. But people that traffic drugs literally do get a lot of them from our state or it is at minimum a stopping or transfer point to places such as NYC and Chicago from the south. 15. Drove past today; concrete is poured but still no tower crane. My guess is it will be up by the end of the week.
  16. I was at this site and area for the first time in a while last week. Wow what a change, going to be interesting to see how this whole project pans out.
  17. That warehouse you lived by is now gone, everything in the "hexagon" area is being demolished and graded for development. The shoring is up on third getting ready for the new bridge to eventually create the sidewalks on 3rd finally.
  18. It "fits" with that section of the development; I don't mind it as it means another lot is filled. Also I'm curious about a few things: 1. No word on the former HealthSouth lot on Goodale(labelled in yellow) 2. Apartment demand should be high enough to build the large yellow label, what's the word on that? 3. Will Wagenbrenner completely takeover the red labelled section and create a transition into the neighborhood?
  19. 1. Sorry about the hyperlink. 2. Glad that they're working with the businesses(although I'm not an Adriatico's fan). 3. Can someone share where I can find information on the MasterPlan for this area? I thought recently I read that they were going to try and redevelop the entire area from High to Neil between 10th & 11th with both University and private investments.
  20. Ohio State to demolish Adriatico’s, University Flower Shop, build office space By Summer Cartwright: [email protected] October 31, 2017 https://www.thelantern.com/2017/10/ohio-state-to-demolish-adriaticos-university-flower-shop-build-office-space/
  21. Yea the site was completely cleared when I walked past on Sunday.
