  1. What's so bad about it? It sounds better than a grocery store and Harrison West North of The Circles.
  2. I've been in Columbus for 10 years and nothing like that has happened other than a crowd gathering at 13th & High after the national championship victory. Nothing was damaged, no cars were flipped, couches burned, UDF's looted and most importantly no innocent bystander was shot and killed like in Charlotte. You must have been out of town last year then: Riot Cops Use Tear Gas on Columbus Crowds After Ohio State Win Police in riot gear used tear gas to break up crowds in Columbus, Ohio, early Tuesday after Ohio State beat Oregon to win the college football championship. At least a dozen small fires were reported after thousands of people poured out of bars to celebrate....... As many as 8,000 people converged on the Ohio State football stadium, known as the Horseshoe, and several hundred forced their way inside, the school said. The crowd tore down a goalpost. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/riot-cops-use-tear-gas-columbus-crowds-after-ohio-state-n284976 Oh wait you must be one of the "White People" they are referring to in this article..... White People Riot In Columbus After Football Game, Media Calls It A ‘Celebration’ http://freakoutnation.com/2015/01/white-people-riot-in-columbus-after-football-game-media-calls-it-a-celebration/ #1 the goal post wasn't torn down and #2 what stores were looted? #3 who gives a S**t, nobody was injured and it was still more peaceful than any BLM "protest" (Edited for clarity)

  4. The problem with these protestors are they are protesting for criminals. There are eye witness accounts from neighbors of what happened in Linden and it's reported by the Dispatch. The police announced themselves and said stop, drop the gun. Much like what happened with Tyree King. Here is a 13 y/o out committing an armed robbery and when confronted by police he was told to stop and fled with the gun exposed. It's not a shoot to kill it's a shoot to prevent them from terrorizing the neighborhood, what happens if he didn't die? Answer is he becomes just another criminal. When I was 13 I was 5'11" 220lbs, right now I am 28 the same height and 30lbs heavier; you could not tell the difference between me now and then other than the maturation in my face. He was out trying to do adult things and paid an adult consequence. The true sad part is that NBC4 hosted a community forum just a month before this incident happened; less than a mile from where this happened which clearly fell on deaf ears. Just an incomprehensible thing when you see the police and some in the community trying to make a change and then one person disrupts the whole flow. Then you have these hipsters coming out of the woodwork to defend a criminal, something needs to change and I don't think it's with the police.
  5. Listen pal. In my day we didn't need no fancy roof. Or call it the "O Patio" either. In fact, I can't remember what the name was....too many pitchers of cheap beer haha! Four Kegs, when I started there!
  6. Yea it looks just as bad as what it's replacing :|
  7. Thank GOD! I know it has some significance to some, but it has been an eyesore since my freshman year way back in 2006.
  8. REALLY!? This fits with the fabric of the neighborhood perfectly and people are still complaining. Look at the detail in the corner and red part of the building. It has modern aspects as well in the center of the building, so really what more do you want?
  9. I appreciate the way in which this was handle in some ways but I do not appreciate the exact motive of this protest and the one on campus. Tyree King was a 13 y/o boy with what appeared to be at first glance a weapon. Which he produced while running from the police and in turn lead to his being shot and killed. Now I know that at 13 I was 5'10" 215lbs, pretty much looked like a young adult not a child any longer. His accomplice has even implicated him in the crime, yet we still have people out there protesting his death because it was done at the hands of the police. The sad part to me is that there was a community forum hosted by NBC 4 at the Kings Art Complex less than a month before this incident occurred. This is just inexcusable at this point, it's a community problem not a police problem. The police are there to protect and serve the common good. When there are multi-generational issues with police then kids grow up with no respect for any authority, including their own parents, grandparents, teachers you name it. If I were Obama and wanted to leave my mark on this country I would hold a country-wide speech during the school day. Everyone has to report in every school district and get to the root of this problem, get your face in front of these kids and start getting this problem resolved.
  10. Ohh I didn't take it as an insult.. it is what it is and Allentown is a town of a similar size that the Valley is, yet one town has leaders that helped keep industry and one doesn't just upsets me to see the results of a place that cares
  11. Of course it's more vibrant than Wheeling, my hometown has been dead for 20 years.
  12. Man does that remind me a lot of my hometown, Wheeling.
  13. My most anticipated addition to the neighborhood since it has taken GoreMade Pizza a while to get open. Still anticipating that as well and they're getting very close!
  14. That should be interesting as a good majority of their employees currently park in that area; it's not all grass as shown in that picture.
  15. These are all over the Grandview area, I have friends that live in some of them and they are all well laid out and appointed. Not too bad as far as rent is concerned either.
  16. I guess this got approved considering the building that it is replacing got demolished last week. It will be interesting to see how this effects the Varsity Club on game days in the future.
  17. Already in the works, I don't know the exact location yet because Target doesn't. However a friend in the business told me this was coming to campus it was just a matter of where and when. The "downtown" location is being scouted as we speak.
  18. I've had several meetings in that building and it should be an embarrassment for a company of that size to occupy it. Their customer service section is basically a dungeon and their offices aren't much better. This is long overdue and I'm very happy for their employees to get out of that place and into something more modern. That being said I know that Via Vecchia is part of that complex as well. There is a lot of potential for that area, hopefully Wasserstrom sells it and removes themselves completely from the new project.
  19. It's actually not bad compared to 5th which is just a cluster.
  20. Morgantown, Athens, Oxford, Bowling Green, Kent, Bloomington are all pretty good examples in addition to Ann Arbor. I don't really get the appeal of wanting adults on campus but I do remember seeing a couple of what I guess were "black tie affairs" at the Wex when I was in school. A couple of times in particular with a few Rolls and Bentley's being valeted into the lot off of High. I agree with a previous poster though that a few times a year should not dictate to fabric of an entire district or neighborhood. If they start attracting high dollar and world renowned artists/exhibits or even plays, ok. I do like the idea of another more centralized higher end hotel in the campus area as this is something that I do think we're missing and would be attractive to visitors.
  21. Yea, it's worked out at Gateway for them well. They had vacancies on High Street until very recently and strong armed several bars out of the development including Eddie George's.
  22. Campus needs an update, it's neighborhood fabric is not changing but the High Street corridor was almost embarrassing for such a world class institution. The building next to south campus Taco Bell looks amazing, the new building taking over for TB/7eleven is going to be a giant improvement. Also I've come to terms with the 17th area project as well, I had always said the houses behind Charlies needed to go because it looked terrible. Then you go all the way up to the new Pavey Square development and High & Lane; it's getting the update that it so desperately needed.
  23. It's hard to argue with this, that is a lot of people on two streets that can barely handle the traffic that is on them currently. Also it is not directly on High which I see as a huge issue with the density aspect. I think what Borror has done on Denison works perfectly to add to the fabric of the neighborhood, this does not. Height needs to be on High only, maximum 4 stories on interior streets other than what's going on over at the Jeffrey.
  24. I've said it in this thread before(I believe). I hate seeing all of this history being ripped down and rebuilt with trash. Wheeling is and always has allowed this to happen without anyone doing a damn thing about it. The bones of Wheeling are great but when the steel and coal left apparently so did the pride in the community. I live in Columbus right now and North Wheeling/Center Wheeling could be Short North and Victorian Village. But what you get from years of leaders letting their pockets be the judge, jury and executioner is Wheeling. The economy in the Valley could be what it is in a city like Pittsburgh but the government didn't want that, they let the whole place fall to shit.
  25. Not built yet. This is a great development, I just hope at the end of the day it all blends in, they didn't do a very good job as a city making sure all of this is cohesive as far as approving developments in and around this one.
