  1. No shocker here but extremely thankful that the commission came through and said we need more from you. Also of note the Brenner Building was getting pilings under way yesterday. White Castle should be coming down today or tomorrow, the construction fence is up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Express 80 miles in 2.5 hours means 40 miles in an hour and fifteen, not too shabby 8-)
  3. Farewell, buildings filled with nostalgia and character. The only one's filled with nostalgia & character are those shown in the picture. The Huntington Bank building is a hideous 70s/80s building and everything behind Charlies and where Evolved looks condemned. I was extremely opposed to this before I saw what the result is going to be and now I have come to terms that I will no longer be able to revisit my Too's and O-Patio days and see a random bdsm photographer taking pictures in the back hallway of Bernie's.
  4. I saw this question proposed over on Columbus Underground. The person asked if the streets could handle that extra traffic and the answer for Price is a resounding NO. That is one of the most narrow streets in the area and 2nd isn't much better. Combine that with the cluster/nightmare that is the intersection of Price, High & 1st you get pure chaos. This needs to be addressed in the approvals for these projects before it gets too out of hand. We have plenty of areas in need of a construction boost in this city that we don't need to focus all of this large scale development in one area. Why is this not proposed in "Penn West" or in addition to their recent proposal in Franklinton. Don't get me wrong I love the design but for a building that is not on High Street(not even direct access to High) or any other main thoroughfare it is WAY too much building.
  5. I live in the neighborhood and have been there a couple of times since. When the live music is going it is pretty "packed." I only say that because they did a very good job with the footprint of their side. It's not a huge space which is good and gives you the feeling of a "crowded" bar.
  6. In Central Ohio, I would like to see it done by township and put into order by MORPC for the next 30 years. We have plenty of land within the boundaries of 270 that suburban expansion isn't that necessary. My boundaries would go as follows outside of Franklin County. Delaware County - Berkshire, Berlin, Concord, City of Delware/Delaware, Genoa, Liberty & Orange Townships. A majority of this are already or on their way to being developed. Fairfield County - Violet Licking County - Etna, Harrison, Jersey*(South of Jug St, West of County Rd 26 & North of 161), Lima/City of Pataskala Madison County - County Line w/ Franklin County Pickaway County - See Madison County Union County - Jerome

If you want the best wings you'll ever have... brine, smoke, fry, toss in that order and don't forget to thank me 8-)
  8. A ton of stuff going on, that crane looks enormous in person. I feel like you can see it from just about anywhere in the neighborhood and 315. White Castle is officially closed. Aston II is fully framed out and across the street a majority of the exteriors are finished on the Jerome. The Brunner(sp?) building next to White Castle should be breaking ground this week. Also the apartments across from Bodega should be moving skyward this week.
  9. I think that was part of the original proposal that UDF would occupy one half of the new ground floor retail space.
  10. The views may not be restricted until that other large apartment complex gets built. I know they say height restrictions but I believe they should've said view restrictions as well, pretty misleading.
  11. Much better than I expected, if you're going to take away so many memories for so many people it had to look like this or we were going to raise hell.
  12. Have you ever been to a Crew game? They draw more than a few thousand. http://www.columbuscrewsc.com/media/all-time-attendance
  13. Honestly the only damage it did was to isolate the eastside. It may have taken years but now look at German Village, the Brewery District and Short North they're all thriving and we're pretty unique as far as the 3 C's are concerned.
  14.
  15. Despite the weather, they've made crazy progress on this build. There is brick going up and it is nearly fully enclosed, I'd imagine windows will be going in this week and we will be able to enjoy this by late summer.
  16. This was originally the Greyhound Bus Station in Wheeling, when the currenty WVNCC was the B & O Railroad Station. Thank you for sharing the pictures of what Wheeling has left. Brief history of my connection to several of the buildings above, I attended kindergarten and first grade at Cathedral and was baptized at St. Al's in Center Wheeling. I grew up in Wheeling(The Island, South & Warwood) 1988-2000 when my family relocated to Cleveland and I have now settled in Columbus. Seeing the revamped neighborhoods in Columbus makes me think always of the potential that Wheeling has with a lot of it's existing and former infrastructure. However politics and a virtually non-existent economy because of leaders in the 90's not being able to see the future like those in Pittsburgh did has left my hometown as I knew it in virtual ruins.
  17. I live right down the street, there was no movement for almost a month. Their project on Pearl behind Arch City was stalled during that time as well.

better fix all the giant potholes in downtown CLE first
  19. I'm hoping that once the retail in Highpoint fills in the angst about the building will somewhat diminish. I think once awnings and businesses are at the ground level it will distract our eyes to the street level vs the building overall and also add some character which it is currently lacking.
  20. I do like that it's visible and also agree on the underwhelming finished product. However I have found this very typical of Kaufman; killer renderings with a very cheap looking finished product. The fake rock on the exterior of 600 Goodale is a prime example; which would've looked a 1,000 times better with a stainless or polished galvanized steel.
  21. The city needs to use eminent domain to take that small house. Holds out are absolutely ridiculous, I almost want to buy it just to sell it to the developer.
  22. Hmmm :wtf: I guess we will have to wait and see what all 6 look like together
  23. These types of developments are at nearly every major college. It's about time OSU get's with the times as far as our dorms and off campus offerings. Though I love that Ohio State is unique in and of itself I am much more impressed by places like Madison, Bloomington, Austin and Morgantown in their off-campus offerings. Ohio State is outdated compared to a lot of other university communities. The north campus area needs an overhaul and shot in the arm. I am very unimpressed with what Buckeye Real Estate did on Neil & Thompkins, but love the Norwich Flats development.
