They are moving dirt over on Ackerman for the Covelli Center.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? The announcement was a long time ago and then nothing more was ever written about it from what I could find. I mostly ask because for the better part of a year it seems they have been doing utility work (I think that's what it is) around the area the arena was planned for. I don't know if it is related or not. About a year after the arena news, OSU announced a sports medicine center for the same site. I'm not sure what the status of either project is today, or which one will be ending up exactly where though... http://www.columbusunderground.com/forums/topic/ohio-state-to-build-sports-medicine-facility If I'm not mistaken I believe there is basic ground work going on in that area. To be fair I haven't really seen the area during the day in about a month but I'll try and go check it out this week.

I can't believe how quickly all of this is coming together. Hopefully they'll both be moving significantly upward by fall. It appears as though they won't have as many issue with the south buildings neighbor as they did with the north. Just wanted to add that those buildings that just came down were in really bad disrepair. The rear was literally a pile of mix and match additions and it would've taken very deep pockets and know-how to get anything out of them.

Thanks for that update. I was wondering when that thing would go away. Too good not to share; hopefully it will go up quicker than The View. More than likely we'll see the building/awnings come down then the tanks and dirt will be moving out to make way for the foundation.

There is an excavator at the Shell station at Lane & High as of Friday too!!

Also didn't see this mentioned but there is now a tower crane on-site for the newest round of construction.

In college I was constantly showing people around Cleveland...people who grew up in places like Parma, Strongsville and Brunswick. None of these guys knew where anything was. I grew up in New Jersey. I moved to Cleveland in middle school and left after high school. My friends that lived there their whole life and continue to do so still don't know the city as well as I do and I've been gone for almost a decade.

Glad you got a pic while it was still there! The "Salvage Dawgs" from DIY Network via Roanoke, VA came and took this down about a year.
