  1. There are successes and failures in both, we can agree on that. However you cannot deny the longstanding tradition of corruption and ineptitude at the top of the school systems in inner cities.
  2. Not going to get into it but that’s equally as ignorant as saying the reverse. Which is not what I said, my point was they misappropriate funds and put their students in the predicament they’re in due to poor leadership and corruption.
  3. I agree… not sure why Greyhound was not moved there
  4. Schools in New Albany are well funded and will be… schools in the areas where fracking took place rebuilt and used that revenue wisely. If you’re looking at misappropriating funds then look at the inner city who have time and time again been defrauded out of millions by making terrible hires. I won’t go down that rabbit hole.
  5. How exactly is Intel failing? They’re building 4 multi billion dollar fabs globally, they’ll not have to outsource any production when they’re up and running. This isn’t Foxconn or whatever that company was that conned both Michigan and Wisconsin out of millions.
  6. I’m about as anti-tax as anyone here I promise you that but name one project where this dream scenario of *enter company name here* comes to town and pays for all the infrastructure, etc. Also you missed something, all the companies coming here to support the fabs that AREN'T getting tax breaks. The tone of some of the replies on here is ridiculous at times. Some of you take this stuff WAY too personal.
  7. You really need to look at that land again, there are active railways and industrial that surrounds it on two sides. Creating a buffer in this case is not a bad thing. Where the hell are you getting this 6 acres from!?
  8. So basically you want that entire neighborhood to be wiped out and replaced by an urban density fantasy land? Good luck!
  9. I'm thankful for the investment in the neighborhood that is addressing needs. When you actually look at the plans it includes amenities like playgrounds which that neighborhood currently has ZERO! I agree and think the city should show them Grant Park and say “this is what we envision neighborhoods like this looking like, help us out.” My main problem with your point of density is the developer could just walk away and then you get nothing. But Grant Park works here I just don’t believe that this current plan is as far off as you’re making it out to be and fits the neighborhood.
  10. It’s not in an urban neighborhood or on a main thoroughfare so it’s not apples to apples with the Jeffrey in any sense of the word. It’s tucked in the very back of an existing single family home neighborhood which at best is going to get you what’s going on at Grant Park. I too would love it to spur this neighborhood. So again let’s come back to reality a bit and be at least somewhat thankful that someone is willing to invest on that side of 71 in MG.
  11. They and other development have driven up the cost of skilled labor in general. That’s not from my mouth, talk to any construction company in any trade. It’s effecting all construction because we are in general short on labor and they’ve increased wages since moving in. And the data centers are much, much more complicated than that and require a ton of different trades. They’re very labor intensive to build.
  12. My point was that density does not need to be everywhere. In the specific instance it’s not needed. Be thankful a company not based here is looking to invest in a community that needs it.
  13. As a reply to this comment and the other below it’s completely land locked and not on a Main Street. I’m ok with this especially the buffer from the tracks. Just because the land is available doesn’t mean it’s completely available to develop.
  14. This… in all facets and a majority of it is thanks to the Amazon, Google and Metas of the world
  15. Ginther is neither left nor right, he’s SELF centered first and only.
  16. This is true, also you’re not getting that close to a data center under construction. The next big one in Ohio is supposed to be in the northwestern part of the state.
  17. Good possibility, Carl has been the rumor though not thoroughly confirmed I’ll admit. The Liebherr model sounds more plausible, but I did hear Carl from an Intel employee.
  18. This is kind of what I’ve figured but it’s still kind of shocking for our market. I think outsiders are still hesitant to invest here for whatever reason. Just looking at us from the outside we have world class healthcare, a world class research university, a state capital, reasonable cost of living, everything but water from a logistical standpoint and several Fortune 500/1000 companies based or with a significant presence. Something just doesn’t add up. My own employer treats us like a redheaded step child as well and for our business it makes zero sense.
  19. This is just pure speculation but it seems like Schiff in particular might be the problem here. He seems to have fallen out of favor with investors or something because his last few proposals around town have fallen through.
  20. It’s called Big Carl, google it. I believe it’s supposed to be on site Q1 2024.
  21. They’re about 6-8 months delayed at this point. The crane that’s needed to fully build this out is still in *the UK* last time I checked so I’d say expect it by 2026.
  22. There has been a ton of behind the scenes work as well… kind of crazy how quick this is progressing
