Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
ugh. I truly don't understand this choice.

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
There are people who try to avoid going to Riverbend. PNC Pavilion is much better than the original one. The main pavilion is terrible. There are too many seats with obstructed views, and the pillars block some of the views. Getting out after a concert is a disaster. They also add $3.75 per ticket for parking. So if you are dropped off, you still are paying that charge.

Blink-182 was actually advertised as one of the headliners for Friday night. They were headliners for Lollapalooza last year, so I didn't understand why they had the time slot that they did for Bunbury.

1800 Square feet is enough room for a family of four. That's what we have.

^ Frisch's is known adding their own flavoring to Coke, so I think that is why people are making such a big deal over the switch.

UrbanOhio Parents & Families
Several months ago my little guy pushed the call button in the elevator in our building. It happened quickly. Next thing I knew a phone was ringing, and a voice came through the speaker asking if there was an emergency on the elevator. I told them that everything was okay, and it was just my toddler playing around. I joked with people that he was testing to make sure the monitoring service the condo association pays for each month actually works. But I learned a pretty important lesson myself.

Maybe talk show host? Or politician?

UrbanOhio Parents & Families
I wonder if our little guy will become interested in baseball. There are two other units on our floor. Whenever we walk past them, he has to step on their doormats as if he's tagging them. It's pretty funny.

The little guy turns two next month! I can't believe how big he is. We think he's three feet tall already or at least pretty close to it. He loves running around. :)

Pet Peeves!
Bugs me too. I think it's rude to the cashier, and it can also hold up the line for other shoppers.

Did you try the upstairs of the Lager House? That wasn't it. I walked in the LH and decided things were a little inappropriate for 6 and 3 yr. Didn't wanna look like "that parent." Anywho, are you saying upstairs is an option in the future? We've dined there with our 1.5 year old, so I'm not sure what you mean by "that parent." They have a kid's menu, high chairs, and changing tables in the restrooms.

I think I'll start looking for a baby-sitter now for this festival. :)

NKY: The Old Covington Landing
I remember TGIFridays, Applebee's, and Yucatan Liquor Stand. Yucatan Liquor Stand was a dance club. I thought one was sold as scrap metal, and then it sunk to the bottom of the Ohio River while in transit. I agree that people in general did not seem to notice that it was gone. I remember people telling me about how there was more to do in Northern Kentucky, and they cited Covington Landing as an example. People were stunned when I mentioned that it had sunk to the bottom of the river.

Forest Park: Forest Fair Mall / Cincinnati Mills Redevelopment
I didn't realize that Metropolis was open that recently, but I haven't been on that side of the mall in a very long time. The only reason I even go there these days is for the Babies 'R Us store, but now there is one near Kenwood Mall. However, I sometimes go to the one at Cincinnati Mall because my brother works in Fairfield, so I can meet him for lunch. One day I had planned on meeting him at the Chipotle in the parking lot, so I went to BRU first. I was shocked to find out that so much of the mall had been shut down that it was nearly impossible to actually walk from the store to Chipotle. I had to cut through the Bass Pro Shop to get there.

Best gym options for living in Over-the-Rhine?
It would be nice if one of these gyms offered child-care. Has anyone used the gym at the YWCA?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
There are definitely a lot of people like that. When I worked in the 580 Building at 6th and Walnut, I remember a lot of people complaining about not having enough lunch options (an opinion I never understood). One day I had picked up a sandwich at the former Jimmy John's on 4th Street. Someone told me that it was too far for him to walk. I also had people tell me that they had no idea how to get to the post office in 515 Vine or even to Tower Place Mall after the skywalk over Fountain Square was removed. I hope that the streetcar will get people out more.

Cincinnati Skywalks
It certainly is. What is also a hassle for strollers (and I would imagine wheelchairs) are the buildings that placed their lobbies on the skywalk level instead of the street level.

Cincinnati Skywalks
But maybe you should understand that the young families with one in a carriage and a toddler need the security of this type of walkway. If you drive them out of the city you are losing years of patronage. Young yuppiie professionals alone will not rebuild the urban fabric. It takes a commitment far beyond that. I have been pushing a baby, then toddler, around in a stroller through downtown for the past eighteen months. I prefer the sidewalk over the skywalk. Not every building has elevator access to the skywalk, and I feel that walking on the sidewalk is safer. Parts of the skywalk are vacant, while there are many sets of eyes on the sidewalks.

In general, the age thing does scare me a little. The little guy is now 11 months, and he does have some separation anxiety. I am nervous how people will react to this. My in-laws have watched him for longer times (three hours +). We've had others watch him for 1.5-2 hours at a time, which is long enough for us to go out and eat dinner nearby. I think I will also feel better as he gets older.

This summer I'm fortunate that I do know some teachers who are off for the summer. I will take a peak at sittercity. On a related note, I know someone in her 20s that just graduated from college in the past year. She lives in the neighborhood, and she has mentioned that she misses babysitting. I haven't know this person for long. What is suggested that I do to check things out? Should I ask for references?

How old is Mr. Fussy Pants? That is very nice of you to watch him and let his parents get out together. On a related note, do parents here get babysitters regularly so that they can go on date nights? If so, how do you find them? Another thing I'm having a hard time is finding babysitters during a week day because I'm a stay-at-home mom still. Sometimes I have doctors appointments. My mother-in-law has been good with watching the little one, but she's currently on a long vacation. Most friends and family members work 9-5 Monday through Friday, so they are not available.

and apparently she has the bladder of someone Tom's age. isn't she the one that has missed multiple sessions or votes because of bathroom breaks? it's incredible what politics can do to a person. It's also amazing what pregnancy and childbirth will do to one's bladder.
