Cincinnati: Downtown: Residence Inn (Phelps Building Redevelopment)
I agree. I think that area is a great residential area. I cannot picture a hotel there.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
^I'll agree that the first proposal was a terrible plan, but the second one was researched more than the first and included more for juvenile reform. My understanding is that those currently in prison are violent offenders. There is a huge mess now in Hamilton County. A police officer can arrest the same person twice while on their shift because the prisons are not keeping them. I even heard that people are coming in from neighboring counties to commit crimes in Hamilton County because they know there isn't enough prison space.

Wow, very nice! It's amazing how much the campus has changed since I graduated in 1998.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I think people commenting on this board are mostly being sarcastic, but it doesn't surprise me if people outside of UO are being serious. It seems to me that Cincinnatians love to complain about lack of progress and about the city in general, but they also complain about change and many proposed projects that are good for the city. I don't think it's just the old fogies, either. Four story buildings may sound fine, but I doubt that is enough room for a major corporation to locate their headquarters. It is inefficient for a company to be spread among many, many buildings.

^ I also think the ambassador program is great. Whenever I see one, they are usually busy. Also, they do have a contact with the police.

Isn't a parking garage better than a parking lot? It will be harder to sell or rent places with parking.

A few days ago, someone sent a tweet saying something like "Grammer's and Christian Moerlein are friends on Facebook. Too bad they aren't friends in real life." It's been months since I've been to Grammer's, but I always remember them serving Christian Moerlein beer. Did something happen?

^ Queen City Square does include parking, and the banks garage by GABP will be open by then. Also, several workers do take the bus to work.

I thought most athletic programs came from funding that is separate from tuition.

Which UO Forum do you prefer: New or Old?
I do like the new format. It looks great in Firefox on my Mac. I do have to admit there are a few glitches when I view it from work (IE6 on a PC).

Pet Peeves!
Yuck! Not washing after number 1 is bad enough! He can be spreading quite a few things. I don't understand why people don't wash their hands after using the rest room. There is a very good reason why sinks are there.

Is there a dress code at the Signature Lounge? If not, how do people tend to dress there?

Pet Peeves!
Amen! I hate using public restrooms. There is a person in my office who I want shake hands with nor allow to give me anything printed. He can only send me emails. I'm curious how you explain this to the person? That is crazy! Do they read anything? I doubt books in a book store are sterile.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
I lived in Pleasant Ridge from 2003-2006, so I went there more frequently than I do now. During that time, I heard of many purse snatchings that took place in their parking lot. I stopped bringing a purse with me whenever I went shopping there. I have no idea if this is still true today. Hopefully there aren't purse snatchings on a regular basis, but maybe the calls are for auto break-ins as well.

^ My friend is a teacher, and she ends up paying for many of her classroom supplies out of pocket. She puts in a lot of hours outside of the classroom time, including lesson plans, grading papers, helping out with extra-curricular activities, and parent-teacher conferences.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
And, it would also be nice for those who live downtown but going to the burbs. We met up with family last night for dinner, and it was a nightmare. We skipped I71, but all the roads were congested with people trying to avoid the highways as well. It took at least 70 minutes to get to the Kenwood Mall area. It would have been nice to have taken light rail instead. One argument people use against public transportation is that it takes too long and driving is just faster. I don't understand how sitting in traffic saves anyone time.

Yes. Anyone shooting at police officers (or shooting at other people with police officers present) will not survive.
