At least they have front porches and sidewalks.

Vernon Manor is not dumpy. My husband and I stayed there on our wedding night.

Cincinnati: Retail News
This sucks. I love to shop at Cost Plus. Is there any other store in the Market like it? Some might argue Pier One---but Pier One doesn't have the food/wines or the random knick-knack items that Cost Plus sells. I agree. I love World Market. It's my favorite chain store. Does anyone know of any other places locally that sell scone mix? People were laughing at me last night when I asked, but I'm being serious.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
I would second the above. While I do agree that the pizza is bland, I think a LaRosa's in the banks would do well. Many Cincinnatians still think this pizza is outstanding. Many people coming downtown for events such as those at US Bank Arena or any sporting event will probably go there before or after the games. I can see it doing a decent business at other times as well, and it probably would be a popular delivery choice among office workers. Believe me, I would prefer to see a better pizza option (such as Dewey's), but I don't think a LaRosa's would be a disaster. If they do open at the Banks, I doubt they would make it their flagship store. That would probably always remain on the West Side. Anyways, many Cincinnati-based chains seem to shun downtown, so I really don't see any of them making a flagship store downtown. That said, my husband and I really are not big fans of LaRosa's. The quality has gone downhill, they really seem to skimp on toppings and ingredients, and they are inconsistent. However, most of our friends and family members don't seem to care or notice. They still prefer LaRosa's.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
This is true, but the hours are not great. For example, the Skyline locations are closed on typical Sundays (the exception is for some Bengals game and Riverfest). Wendy's is usually closed by 6 PM on Saturdays. I think some of the places in Tower PLace close early some nights as well.

Pet Peeves!
That is funny! I always left my phone in a locker in or in the car. I already have enough to carry around with my water bottle, iPod, towel, inhaler, and keys. And of course, not all women's workout clothing has pockets.

I agree with all the guidelines listed for the gym. When I used to go to Gold's Gym, it really bugged me when the guys would leave 100+ lbs of plates on some of the machines. I never understood how people could talk on their phones while doing cardio. I can not have a conversation when doing cardio myself. Then again, maybe it's my asthma. ;)

What is your favorite neighborhood in Cincinnati? (EXCLUDING DOWNTOWN)
I have lived in Cincinnati my entire life, but I had not heard of Ridgewood until five years ago when I had moved to Pleasant Ridge.

Great pictures! I can see the top of my head in the 4th pic (hot pink hat). I think I saw you. I remember seeing a guy with a tripod west of the fountain.

Favorite Chain Pizza
LaRosa's is not as good as it used to be. They seem to be skimping on sauce and toppings. The last few pizzas I ate from LaRosa's tasted bland.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Discussion
Filling up the arena and the Fox Sports Ohio mess-up sound like 2 different issues to me. Even if the arena had been full, there were still thousands of fans at home or at bars that missed the overtime. I totally agree with you about people leaving games early. I went to the Crosstown Shootout this year, and I was surprised at how many people left early. I think there were 5-6 minutes left on the clock. This problem is not unique to UC. Many people leave the XU basketball games early as well. I rarely ever leave a sporting event early unless there is an emergency. I don't understand why people pay for tickets and not stay for the entire game. Besides, fans should be supporting their team.

Even through overtime they did not have enough time to correct this? That was ridiculous.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
It must be manager's discretion. I've never seen deodorant locked up at either of the downtown Cincy locations, but I do notice that they each have different products locked up. For example, one has Olay body wash locked up, but the other one does not. Yup.

Cincinnati's Backstage District
That's fantastic...Lucy Blue is great. I think so too. Lucy Blue seems to do a much better job with late night crowds than Gondola did. At least Lucy Blue keeps consistent hours. I wonder if they are keeping their location at 12th and Walnut?

I don't get the impression that Smitty's is a bad business.

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
We had less than great experiences the last few times my husband and I went there for food. They always messed up something each time. One time it took three times to get my order right. I liked their food, but it wasn't worth it. We decided at that point to only go for drinks or coffee.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Do they have the extended hours at least posted? Some businesses do not bother changing their signs when they try extended hours. Last Friday there was a decent line at 8 PM, so my bet is there will be more.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
I agree that these hours are ridiculous. I was there opening night, and there was still a line at 8 PM. They locked the doors around 8:15, and after that people were tugging on the doors trying to get in the place.

Facebook
I agree. A friend told me that his group has turned down job candidate because of pictures they posted on MySpace or Facebook. My rule of thumb with those sites is to never post anything that I would not want my family or employer to see. I make an assumption that anyone can and will see this. Some of my cousins are my friends on Facebook. And so is my manager at work.
