Your Dream House?
Yup, I agree! I'm actually allergic to grass, so my poor husband was the one who always had to cut it when we had a house. He hated it. During our last few months in our home, we actually hired someone to cut the grass for us. It was well worth the money, especially since my husband was going to grad school at the time.

Ohio Cities' Downtown Population
that figure can't include all of OTR Both numbers look low to me. There is no way all of OTR is included in the Greater Downtown numbers. I also thought that the CBD had between 4000 and 4500 residents. That's the number I've heard from the president of the DRC.

Boycott Dayton
I agree. I hate hearing about murders, but I can't help but think this son may still be alive today if he had not agreed to this drug deal. I'm surprised that anyone would expect a drug dealer to be a model citizen, and my guess is that that the same thing could happen in any city.

Cincinnati: Light up the Square!
No truer words have been spoken! People hate on this kid all of the time, but he does so much for this city, it's unbelievable. I actually think he's a booster more than us sometimes. God bless Lachey! True. A lot of celebrities from this area try to pretend they're not from Cincinnati. Nick does seem to do a lot. It was great to see so many people at the tree lighting.

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
I would think most of the neighborhoods in Cincinnati have people in their 30s with small children. I know there were several in Pleasant Ridge, and I know some westsiders in the city limits who either have kids already or have one on the way. My husband and I have a condo on the edge of OTR/downtown. There are a few 30 something couples with babies in our building. When we have kids, we do not plan on moving out of the city limits. We plan on staying in our condo for as long as possible.

Boycott Dayton
I see no problem with someone talking about a real issue. However, I don't think his proposed boycott will do anything to address these issues.

Boycott Dayton
I read through the "about" section posted. I really think the guy is taking a wrong approach to helping things in Dayton, and I think his actions are some of the things that can cause a city to decline. I get the impression that he really didn't see a need to do anything about crime in Dayton until it started "coming to the suburbs." I also wonder if he's involved in his community at all, such as in a neighborhood watch program or even a Citizens on Patrol program. Does he volunteer his time? I would think creating a blog like this will do nothing to help clear crime. Instead, I think it could just cause more ill-will towards a city. Of course, having fewer people in the city is never a good thing. I will not look at this site again. I don't want this guy to get any more hits.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
 It will be nice to not have to drive up to the location on W Clifton and deal with that crazy parking lot. A streetcar would be a pretty good transit option to get up to that area's great food offerings. I agree 100%. Now, why are different sources posting different hours for the new Chipotle? It's confusing. Now I'm not sure if I should arrive there at 7:30 PM or 9:30 PM. ;)

A full liquor license for a pizza joint? Must have a bar in there as well. Hmm. Hopefully this means they will have dinner hours as well. I doubt it would be worth paying for a liquor license with only M-F lunch hours. It's just my guess though.

The hours posted on their door do not match the hours on the website (which is above). According to the sign on the door, they will be open 11 AM - 10 PM every day.

Do you mean the restaurant location or the name? I really miss the old Universal Grill. It was a good casual place to have dinner and a drink. Those fried Twinkies drizzled in raspberry sauce were pretty good, too. :)

Are you a textaholic?
Maybe I am a textaholic. I just looked up the number of text messages I sent between 9/1 and 11/21. I sent a total of 1105 during this time period! I'm not sure how many I received, but my guess is that it's probably close to this number. I think text messaging is good for quick messages if you don't necessarily want to disturb anyone or think they may be sleeping. For example, my mom has been sick. If I call her in the morning, I first send her a text first such as "Hi!" or "Good morning!" I don't want to wake her up if she is still sleeping, and the sound of a text message arriving will not do that like the ringing of a phone will. When I get her reply, I know she's awake, and then I call. She does the same thing to me on weekends if she's afraid she will wake me up. Some people I know will share more information with me over texting than actually talking on the phone or in person. I agree that it's also great in noisy places or if you're trying to find someone in a crowd. It also worked out well when my husband graduated with his masters. I was able to text him to let him know where his parents and I were sitting. I agree that there are many situations when a phone call is appropriate instead of a text or IM. While I don't mind abbreviations used for texts or IM, I do get pretty annoyed when I see them in emails.

I'd love to find out who "Crust" really is, so I could go over to his apartment and/or mother's basement and dump a few cans of paint all over his room. I'd call it art.

Did We Land On The Moon? ..And General Conspiracies / Urban Legends
I'm too young to remember this, but talk to people who were alive in the late 60s. They lived through this stuff. When the moon landing was televised, it wasn't aired at some convenient hour for everyone. It was around 11 PM at night.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Who knows...they seem to modify their hours every few months. At one point they were open until 9 PM on Thursday and Friday nights. My husband and I walked down to have dinner on one of those nights to find out that they were closed. We don't really bother trying to go there for dinner because we're afraid that the same thing will happen again.
