Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
Many of these events will be back at Fountain Square this year. Yesterday I walked down to FS to check out the market. It looks like the number of vendors is down from last year. I wonder if this is just because the markets are starting back up? There was only one produce vendor, and in past years there have been 2-3.

Wow, how much more information do they need? This has been studied so much already along with presentations.

Professional Prints
Last week I had a professional photographer take pictures of my baby boy. Besides prints, she also offers a CD of high resolution images with a copyright release. We will more than likely buy the CD. I would like recommendations of places that will do professional-quality prints. I'm open to using online retailers or retailers located in Cincinnati. I've seen some recommendations for mpix.com. I noticed that kodakgallery.com offers professional-quality prints as well. I have used kodak gallery for their standard prints, but I would like better quality for these professional prints. I would like to hear feedback for these sites as well if anyone has experience with them.

We're using both cloth and disposable. We use disposables for overnight, longer outings, and baby-sitters. I use a combination of prefolds with Bummi covers, Flips, and pockets. I only use the prefolds and flips around the home, and I'll use pockets if I will be out a short amount of time. I have some Bum Genius and Fuzzy Bunz in the collection. I don't feel that we went overboard buying cloth diapers, but I do feel that we have plenty in our stash. I read the posts on the Cloth Diapering boards on Baby Center, and I'm surprised at how many diapers these women buy. They are like fashion accessories.

Baby boy is now over nine months old. Time is flying by fast! It is amazing to watch a little human being develop. :-) I have mixed feelings about Mother's Day this weekend. It's my first one as a mom, but it's also my first one without my mom.

^ Interesting. Case 10CV29707 shows that the doors were padlocked on 5/5.

^ I walked by Passage tonight, and there was a court notice on the door. The door was also chained shut. I wonder what happened.

Thanks, everyone. Having the little one does help a lot. When my father passed away when I was a child, my mom told me that I kept her going. I now understand what she meant by that.

What is your degree?
Bachelor of Science degree. Major in Computer Science, minor in Mathematics. I worked for a little over twelve years in the IT department of a property/casualty insurance company. I resigned last month to become a stay-at-home mom for at least a couple of years. When the time comes for me to reenter the work force, I will either need to take some classes to catch up with the technology, or I may decide to go into another field.

I haven't been around much these past few months. I've had plenty of life changes this year. My little boy is going to be four months tomorrow. Unfortunately, my mom lost her battle to breast cancer last month and passed away. I am the executrix of her will, so that along with cleaning out her condo have taken up quite a bit of time. After much thought, I also resigned from my job and will be taking a few years off from the work force. The little one is doing well. I started trying out different cloth diapers last week.

Pet Peeves!
Sometimes people have a disability or illness that is not obvious. I usually take the stairs for a floor or two myself unless my asthma is acting up. When that happens, I am not always wheezing, and you usually can't tell by looking at me that I'm ill. Many times I have tightness in my lungs that can easily be triggered again, especially when I'm getting over a cold or infection. Also, I used the stairs very little during my last month or so of pregnancy. At least that was obvious to others. ;)

The last and only time I went to Chuck E Cheese was for my nephew's birthday about four or five years ago. I remember having a big headache by the time I left the place, and I told my mom that it could be even longer before she had any grandchildren from us. I'm sure it's very different when you're there with your kids. We went to the one and Florida, and I remember thinking that the beer seemed a little off.

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
Avril-Bleh market is good for picking up a few things, but they don't have much. I've been making small trips here and there during my maternity leave. That's because I can actually get there now before their closing time. My trips there will probably become less frequent when I go back to work.

Off Topic
LOL I'm glad there doesn't seem to be any deaths or injuries associated with this flood though I feel bad for people who don't have this damage covered by their insurance. Flooding usually is not covered by insurance when it comes to buildings. You have to purchase flood insurance, and it's extremely expensive and covers little. It will be interesting to see how this is handled. Auto insurance can cover flooding, though.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
It would be nice to have a Dewey's downtown. I've heard there used to be a LaRosa's in the 580 building.

I would expect that more in Vegas. On a similar note, we know someone who was turned away from Mynt Martini because of his shoes. He even explained that he could only wear certain types of shoes because of a medical issue, but they still wouldn't let him in. I'm wondering if it was an age discrimination issue because the man is in his 70s.

I'm sure they'll still find something negative to say about this.

Yeah, me too, and my baby is 14 months old. You get used to it. Remember, the upcoming first 3 months are the hardest, and then you get used to a lot of it. They're just helpless blobs needing constant attention the first 3 months. Keep us posted, both of you! bfwissel was joking about setting an alarm (or a recording of a baby crying) to go off every 2-3 hours to get used to having to wake up so often. I told him that he doesn't have to because I already am waking up that often. ;-)

I'm thrilled when I can go three hours without waking up! That, and those bathroom breaks...

iPhone
Very true that there is no perfect phone and no perfect plan. I went with the iPhone for several reasons. Nearly everyone I talked with loved their iPhones. Maybe two people did not. Few people in Cincinnati had issues with dropped calls from AT&T, and a few even told me they felt the reception was better than with Cincinnati Bell Wireless (our previous provider). I had few dropped calls with CBW. It also seems that mobile phones are not made as well as they used to be. My past two phones (a Nokia flip phone and a BlackBerry Curve) did not age gracefully. I had to replace the flip phone after eight months, then the replacement starting acting up after another six months. I knew people using the same iPhone for years without problem, and many of Apple's products will last for a long time (our iPods have lasted well over four years, people have used MacBooks for over five years, etc.). I know many people want a new phone every year anyways, but I'm not one of those. Now, before anyone gets upset, I do not know much about the quality of the Andriod phones. I heard great things about them, so I'm sure they are fantastic as well. I don't know anything about their life-cycles, and I am not making a comment about how they are.

iPhone
I think you're reading into it too much. All bfwissel was saying is that he has not had any problem with the phone itself. I haven't had any issues with my phone itself. I even tried to make the signal strength go down, but it didn't happen. By making this statement, I'm not trying to imply that some users are stupid. I'm simply saying that I have not experienced this problem myself. I also know several people with the iPhone 4 that have not experienced any issues the the antenna, either. I know that the iPhone is not for everyone, and that's fine.
