Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Today a noticed that there is a sign at Fresh stating they are permanently closed because of ongoing problems with the Bartlett Building. It looks like there were people in there packing up.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Tazza Mia downtown (Vine St. near Fountain Square) has expanded their hours. They are now open until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. :) My husband and I were actually walking down to Starbucks to get coffee tonight, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that Tazza Mia was open. They even had a sign posted with their extended hours. We decided to go there instead of Starbucks. They said they decided to try the extended hours because the ice skating rink on Fountain Square will be open soon along with the other holiday activities.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
I do shop at the Macy's downtown very often. Now that they keep cutting back on merchandise, it's hard to convince people that they should come down here to shop. If I did not live or work downtown, I probably would skip this Macy's and head straight to one of the mall locations. I am a huge downtown supporter, but this is ridiculous. It's hard to tell people "Shop at the downtown Macy's, but you won't be able to register for your wedding, or look at the junior's department, or buy women's work out clothing, etc."

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
It's good that there are two department stores downtown. However, I rarely go to Saks because of the prices. The selection at the Fountain Place Macy's is nowhere near the selection at their suburban stores. It's very frustrating to be told "We don't carry that here at the downtown store. You'll have to go to one of the mall stores to get that."

Ohio: Casino / Gaming Discussion
This is why I voted against Issue 6. I would not mind having casino gambling in Ohio, and I agree that it would be nice to keep the taxes in the state. In my opinion, the lottery is probably way worse than any casino in terms in odds and the number of poor people gambling. I have a much better chance of winning *something* at a casino than I do playing the lottery.

A parking garage is much better than a parking lot.

The Great "**YOUR** Voting Experience" Thread
Sounds like I was at the library during the same time you were. I saw a few forumers there as well. I'm also in precint 6F. I arrived around 7:10 or 7:15, and I finished voting around 8:30. Those three short lines at the end were not marked off well in my opinion. I wish I would have had reading material or my iPod with me.

Circuit City Closing Alltogether
They also need to improve customer service. The Glenway Avenue location in Cincy was horrible.

Cincinnati Hospitals
Or maybe they are doctors adding second offices.

Cincinnati: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
So those signs on three poles were meant for bicycle parking? I never realized that.

Can anyone at least tell us what time to expect an announcement?

Cincinnati and proportional representation
I don't understand the need to change the current system of electing council members. It sounds to me that someone is whining that he or his friends weren't elected, so he wants to change the way the election is handled. This also seems to add another layer of complication to the process. If things are made too complicated, I wonder if people would feel discouraged from voting.

Or maybe he's avoiding it for that reason? He may be trying to stay away from that name. On a similar note, does anyone remember when all of the items, including the name, from the Maisonnete was auctioned? I thought someone bought the name for thousands of dollars. I wonder if something is going to come out of it.

Pet Peeves!
This gets on my nerves as well. Every so often, someone sitting next to me at a meeting or in a movie theater is chewing gum very loudly. I don't know why it bugs me so much.

Were these taken from the Atrium II?

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
We went to happy hour last Friday and enjoyed half-priced sushi. We had a lot to eat, and it was very good.

As long as it's convenient to get there from downtown/otr. :)

My season tickets also arrived this week. :) While it would be nice to have a parking garage, I can understand why they didn't build the garage right away. Honestly, I would love to be able to take light rail to get to the games and not even worry about parking, but that is another story.

Cincinnati: Xavier University: Development and News
The original plans for the Cintas Center included an underground parking garage. Unfortunately, that was removed from the plans because of the expense.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Mabley Place (formerly Tower Place Mall)
They definitely need to do a better job with marketing (if they are even doing any at all).

Cincinnati: Downtown: Mabley Place (formerly Tower Place Mall)
It looks like they are currently stocking merchandise in the Dollar store that will be opening the old Gap location. Most of the windows are covered, but there is a small gap (no pun intended) inside Tower Place where you can see just a little bit into the space.

Cincinnati and the smoking ban
I'm not sure I like that idea of a company refusing to hire someone that smokes. It does sound like they are dictating what employees do during their own time, and smoking itself is a legal activity. I don't think smokers are considered a "protected class," so this is probably how companies get away with it. However, my company does charge extra for health and life insurance for smokers, which I can understand. They also offer a smoking cessation program.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Bootsy's by Jeff Ruby appears to be coming along. The extention of the deck going over the sidewalk is now under construction. It looks like they are building the outer elevator shaft as well. I heard a rumor on the street (literally) that they will open late December. There is a sign saying that they are now hiring and opening soon.
