iPod: Work Aid or Distraction?
I listen to my iPod at work. Having music on actually helps me - it blocks out conversations from coworkers that have nothing to do with work. I also feel that I work faster with music on as well. Before I had an iPod, I just plugged my headphones into my computer and played CDs or listened to internet radio. $100 fines seem to be going too far. I will say that I rarely listen to my iPod when walking outside. When I'm walking, I always try to be aware of my surrounds. Having headphones in my ears does not allow this.

Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
Do people think this is likely to happen, or do you think they'll have a battle?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Nothing wrong with this...I grew up in the same type of household! I am actually conservative on several issues, but I am a huge fan of urban living and mass transit. Anyways, I saw this posting on the Enquirer today by someone called "Light Rail." Did someone here post this by any chance? ;)

Just curious....how does your family react whenever you bring this up? Do they agree with you, or do they act like you're crazy?

Is this Cincinnati? Whitesnake poster.
You probably don't even remember the 80s!

City West & Misc - Cincy
Are you referring to City West? 350K is much higher than what they are asking. I thought the starting point was $175K

Cincinnati: New Hamilton County Jail
This almost sounds too good to be true. A location has been selected, location is not too far from the court house, neighbors are not holding a protest over it, and the land is to be donated for this purpose. It will be interesting to see how this works out over the next few weeks.

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
Another thought....someone from Downtown Cincinnati, Inc. (DCI) may have advice or may already have this information. Check out their website at www.downtowncincinnati.com. I believe they have a link for comments.

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
Right now, my husband and I go to Findlay Market roughly once a week. They seem to provide a lot of what we need, and it is my favorite place to buy food/groceries. However, I would love to see a specialty store such as Trader Joe's (my second favorite), Fresh Market, Whole Foods, or something similiar open downtown.

Kings Island
How cool would that be if Busch had bought Kings Island! Free beer samples, anyone? ;)

Cincinnati: Arts News & Discussion
^ I now live in walking distance to Music Hall, so I walk there as well. However, being a woman, I probably would not walk there by myself at night.

That garage is definitely a good place to park. I would get there a little early. There are also lots on Central Pkwy. that are only a block away as well.

College student sections should always be by the court. Replacing those bleacher seats in 5/3 Arena would be a good move.

Convergys news
^ I wish these jobs were downtown as well. My husband and I were talking about this yesterday while we were walking to work. He mentioned that the jobs Convergys promised were the higher salaried ones. Many companies tend to place their call centers in Texas (or whereever they can find cheap labor), so it's good they at least stayed in this region. Still, we have to wonder about the Convergys deal. Convergys kicked some businesses out of the Atrium One when they purchased the building, all with help from the city. :(

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Not a new place, but Chamber's Restaurant on Court St. has extended their hours. They are now open from 6:30 AM - 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. :) I noticed the sign in their window about their new hours, so my husband and I tried them out tonight. They have hot sandwiches, burgers, salads, and appetizers. Inexpensive, too. Our bill was less than $15. They have a bar, too, with happy hour from 4-8. They told us that they are trying the expanded hours for the locals. They are located at 125 E Court St, in between Walnut and Main.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
My husband and I tried Nicola's for the first time a few weeks ago. We were very impressed. Food and service were excellent, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I look forward to trying Via Vite when it opens.

It was great to see so many people skating yesterday. I went by the square later in the evening, and there were still quite a few skaters. :)
