Do you think it's really a good idea to turn this into a political event? I don't see a purpose in doing so other than trying to endorse your candidate. It would discourage some potential volunteers.
  2. It's on Walnut Street. We stopped there on Saturday. Unfortunately, it wasn't very crowded. However, there was a sign saying that they have free food during the half-time of Bengal's games.
  3. ^ We're not sure what's causing the delay.
  4. Absolutely not. And my wife and I plan on doing just that. A 4 bedroom seems to me to be a bit much, especially with kids. Does one really need that much room? This is a lose some gain some situation. You may not have the closed gated community (equates with safe) that you would in let's say West Chester, but there is a balance. Less time driving around and more time spent with family. Actually walking to the park and riverfront as if it's in your back yard (which it would be). Going home on lunch breaks (if you work downtown). Less time spent running errands, going to the doctor, the eye doctor, the dentist, picking up small grocery items (i.e. milk, eggs, cereal, ibuprofen, etc ...) and spending it with friends and family. Nice to hear this...my husband and I have discussed raising kids downtown or in the outskirts several times.
  5. After a lot of thought, my husband and I have decided not to buy at the mcalpin However, we will still be buying a place in the Downtown area.

Good luck, Mark! We'll miss you.
  7. 15 story buildings would block everyone's views of the river.
  8. I have heard that the trees may not be planted until after the official opening. There is a big ceremony planned that may include a rock band playing at night.
  9. Cincinnati Enquirer is so awful that I kind of wish I had a subscription to it just so I could cancel it!
  10. Parking garages are better than parking lots in my opinion.
  11. I have to agree with SSSCincy about the round circle on 525 Vine. I can't figure that out, either. As for the screen, I wonder if the height is so you can see it about the fountian and the new building they are adding on Vine St?
  12. Aglamesis in Cincinnati is delicious! That probably is my favorite of the non-chains. For soft-serve, my favorite is Putz's in Cincinnati.
  13. I wondered the same thing.
  14. occupancy will be in the first quarter of 2007.

    That is great!
  16. ^I'm glad you added the winking face. That totally changed how your words sound (or read). :)
  17. I'm sure she thanks you for your reassuring works, mark. ;)

Meijer is okay. I only go for groceries on occassion. For some reason, it takes me almost an hour to do my grocery shopping there, even if I arrive with an organized list. It must be the size and/or the way the store is organized. One thing that bugs me at the location near me is the self-serve check-outs. I hate those things. Unfortunately, they never seem to have a staffed express lane, so I'm usually stuck using the self-serve if I only have a few items. :( I tend to avoid Meijer if I only need a few items because of this.
  19. I highly recommend the Downtown Tour of Living. It's worth the $10. I'm volunteering on the tour for the first three hours. You will see neat living spaces along with decorating ideas for your own place. My husband and I just sold our home in Pleasant Ridge so that we can move downtown. I felt safe. We did not have any issues. Oakley is very nice, but it is pricier.
  20. The models are almost ready. They should be open for the Downtown Tour of Living.
  21. I would be curious whether this is just his feeling or if he has a source for this. In my experience police presence has no effect on how safe (or unsafe) I feel and many other factors (lighting, activity, vacant buildings, etc.) have much more impact. In fact I would go so far as to say that the places I feel safest almost uniformly have no police presence, it just isn't necessary. I sometimes wonder if it backfires. I've heard people say "They need to have police patrolling the area, so it must not be safe."
  22. And a poor one at that (based on the ones here in Alabama). Wow, I didn't know it could get worse than Awful House.

We're now car-lite. :) We got rid of my car last week, and so far, hubby and I are doing fine with one car.
