Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
Was there any mention as to why they were 'kicking' those tenants out? Is there a larger tenant that they may be trying to make room for.....what? I wouldn't think that they would just go 'kicking' people out all willy nilly. Sorry, I forgot to mention the reason! 5/3 is relocating their branch on the skywalk level down to the street level. I do think that this makes sense, especially with the skywalk demolition. However, I think it is unfortunate that successful businesses will close. I'm under the impression that Servatti's will not bother trying to find another location to replace 6th Street. Their court street location will be the only one downtown. It seems that over the past few years, several business down here have been kicked out by their landlords, never to open again in CBD. Havana Martini Club has been the exception.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
Bad news - I just heard that 5/3 is kicking out several of the tenants on 6th St. This include Servatti's, Jones the Florist, and Widmers. I'm not sure if the other tenants are included in this as well. I'm going to send email to DCI and 5/3 and express my opinions. I think the changes to Fountain Square sound great, but I do not understand kicking out successful businesses. This sounds similiar to what the 580 Building did. They basically kicked out the 580 Cafe, Havana Martini Club, and Blue Chip Cookie.

Interesting name for a music fest! :) I'd be interested to hear about your experiences with Megabus as well. Especially with the stop so close to my future home.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
The band we're going to see isn't punk, so maybe it depends on the type of music playing that night. Thanks for the info, though. :)

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Has anyone been to The Poison Room, located on the corner of 5th and Plum? It used to be the Viper Room, and before that it was the Spy Club. My husband and I plan on going there this weekend to see a band we like, and I was wondering how people usually dress there. Or is it one of those things where it depends on what band is playing? I remember going to that location once when it was the Spy Club. I felt slightly out of place because I wasn't wearing enough black clothing. ;)

Cincinnati: Purple People Bridge
John Matarese had this little blurb about the prices of the bridge climb. The only thing that is keeping me from doing it is the price. http://www.wcpo.com/wcpo/localshows/dontwasteyourmoney/1c7608e2.html PURPLE PEOPLE PRICES Reported and Web Produced by: John Matarese Updated: 06/19/06 17:54:36 The day has finally arrived! The Purple People Bridge climb has opened to the public.

Eatin' good in the OTR 'hood
^The Bay Horse closed when some patrons got into a fight, and it ended with a shooting. They had actually lost their liquor license prior to this, but they continued to sell anyways. They were shut down quickly after that.

^ agree as well. I do shop at Bath & Body Works and New York & Co. on a regular basis. I make it a point to shop only at the down town locations. :(

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
I think there may be a marketing problem. My husband and I go to Main St. sometimes. Our friends are usually surprised because they said there is nothing on Main St. anymore. I have been hearing this since 2002 or 2003, and I tell them that is simply not true. Even with more places open, my friends were surprised to hear that places were still open and doing business. My husband and I were down on Main St. this weekend. I do have to say that we did not see any police officers around. This was the first time I had experienced this - usually we see a few. I hope this was an off night. While Main St. seemed okay, some of the side streets looked a little sketchy.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
That is funny, yet embarrassing at the same time. Hopefully this will only take a year. I have heard that new contruction usually goes faster than rehabbing a very old building.

Dillard's is nothing like McAlpin's.

Cincinnati: Macy's
^ I think the brands they carry will vary by location. FOr example, Kenwood Mall near Cincinnati tends to have more of the high end brand names because they are pretty close to some expensive neighborhoods. Other Macy's stores in the area tend to fewer high end brands.

Cincinnati: Macy's
I notice little difference between Lazarus and Macy's here, especially since they are both owned by the same company.

Cincinnati May 20th 2006 Meet Photos
Great photos posted so far! I'll be sure to post mine soon. My husband and I had a blast! It was great meeting everyone, and I enjoyed walking around downtown, Over-the-Rhine, and Mount Auburn (Prospect Hills). We walked through areas we had never seen before, and it was my first time on the observation deck at Carew Tower.

Gas Prices
My husband and I own two cars between us, and they are both paid off. My car is a 1997 Cavalier, and his is a 1999 Saturn. Most of our friends drive newer and fancier cars, but they also seem to have more debt and less able to go to shows and such. We orignally planned on driving them until they "died." However, we will be selling me car within the next few months and just owning the Saturn between us. When it's time to replace this car, we will probably buy a used one. I just can't see spending tons and tons of money on something that will just go down in value. I can't imagine taking out a large or long loan for something like this.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I can't wait! I've seen Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, and it was an amazing show. It's something you could probably watch many times, and you still would notice something different in each show. I wonder if the rest of this area realizes how big of deal this is.
