  1. Yes, and it was painted pink and mint green *shudder*
  2. I never understand why people do some of these things. We have finished wood that was painted over in my house as well. :( Also my cousin has a rookwood fireplace in his home, and a previous owner had painted over it. He and his wife scraped off the paint, and the fireplace is now beautiful and in great condition. Has anyone here been to the Taft Museum by Lytle Park? The original entrance has these huge murals surrounding it. At one point, they had been painted over and I think even wall-papered. The murals have since been restored, but I ask myself "What where they thinking?!?!?!"

People ask me for directions in downtown Cincinnati quite a bit. I guess it looks like I know where I'm going. ;) I'm usually able to help them out because I do know the area pretty well. I have also helped in other ways. For example, last Saturday I was shopping at Macy's in Fountain Place. Two women ask a cashier if there are any toy stores down town. These women were visiting from another city. The cashier told them that there are no toy stores. Overhearing this conversion, I told the women that TJ Maxx a block over does have a toy section. I also told them that the gift shop at the Contemporary Arts Center usually has toys as well. They seemed very appreciative of this information.

Wow, I'm very impressed! It's very hard to give directions to any place in Mt. Adams. If it's not on St. Gregory Street or right off of it, I tend to drive around until I find where I'm going. I have taken a few art classes at the Art Academy when it was in Mt. Adams. Getting there was easy, but it was getting out of Mt. Adams that always confused me. During the first class I took there, I went home a different route each time. By the time I took the second class, I figured it out near the beginning of the class. Now I'm much more comfortable driving around Mt. Adams, but I could never give directions to anyone on getting out.
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if it actually is. I lived in Western Hills (about 1-2 miles away from Delhi to be exact) for most of my life. In the late 80s/early 90s, the airplane noise started to get pretty loud. I remember being inside the house with the windows closed while talking on the phone. When an airplane passed, the person on the other end would always ask about the noise. Delhi has it even worse. I believe the quotes in the story where the neighbors couldn't hear each other. I believe this, too, especially after visiting some of my family members in Delhi.
  6. I plan on being there. My husband also plans to be there as well.

    ^ agree
  8. I'm sorry to hear that. :( I'd be extremely disappointed if I were in the same situation. Great pictures, though!
  9. Looks like Huggins got his wish - to play Xavier at the arena instead of on campus.
  10. Contruction of sidewalks has begun in this area. Right now they are working in front of Ridgewater Plaza, which is the strip mall area with bigg's, Lowe's and A.J. Wright's.
  11. I thought I read somewhere (specifically the Center City Mall thread) that the Mills Corp. is having financial difficulties. Could this be why they are selling Cincinnati Mills?
  12. ^ Too bad we can't put the jail up in West Chester.
  13. ^ Is that a waiting list, or is that the number of people who requested information?
  14. ^ I believe the Westin Garage is still $1 on weekends. There is a garage on Garfield that is also $1 on weekends. I'm not sure about the other places. I have a monthly parking pass that is good 24/7, so I don't pay too much attention to parking rates any more.
  15. Good luck with your new business! Especially with more people moving downtown, I can really see a demand for this. It seems that quite a few people own pets downtown.
  16. ^ Pentium 4. My battery life is probably closer to 3 hours now that I think about it.
  17. ^ The bus ride from Mason will provide plenty of time to check new posts on Urban Ohio! :) My laptop battery lasts for two hours, so I wouldn't have a problem with that issue. However, I get motion sickness whenever I try to read on a bus or in a car, so I probably would not use the wi-fi anyways.
  18. How many stories are in your building?
  19. Great pictures! We need more people with your enthusiasm to move to this area!
  20. ^ "DeWhine" isn't the greatest, either.
  21. I would love to go myself, but most of my vacation days are already spoken for. :(
  22. I have mixed feelings about having a casino open in downtown Cincinnati, but this really makes me made. Argosy has enough power to do this? And I'm upset that the politicians allowed this!
  23. ^ That's pretty much how it worked in our case. We had to make a small deposit when we signed the contract. We also had to pay most of the closing costs up front in order to secure the loan.
