We had our condo painted a few years ago, and we had a few bids. bfwissel called and left a message with one of the painters that a friend recommended, and it took about two weeks for the painter to return the call. We set up a time for the painter to come over and look at our condo. The guy never showed up, and he called eight days later to apologize. Needless to say, we didn't bother calling him back to set up another time with him.

^ That reminds me of another pet peeve - people criticizing what I eat. I feel like telling them to just mind their own business.
  3. I like the lines straight in the logo. They make me think of track. Wavy lines make me think of water, which makes sense in the flag.

That is terrible. This reminds me of another annoyance we had when traveling to Portland. We were out exploring the city by ourselves, and someone stopped us on the street to ask to donate to some organization that helps children. We had never heard of this particular organization, and we're not going to just hand money to a stranger on the street. We declined and told him that we already have our charities that we support. This stranger then proceeded to tell us that whatever we are currently giving is not enough. That really turned me off. This guy had never met us, and he's already criticizing us without knowing us.
  5. I'm begining to wonder if she is going to reopen this year.. Uh oh...is there a change that it won't be open this year? :(

On a similar note, as a child, I had so much hope that people grow up and not care about petty things. After listening to some of the conversations I hear among adults, I have realized that many adults never really grow up.

^ I definitely wouldn't give a baby my level of spicy. The local Indian restaurant offers their spicy level on a scale of 1 - 6, and I usually get a 5. I would definitely feed a toddler/baby something milder.

What sounds like an appropriate age to start feeding the kid Indian food? The dietician at our child-birth class recommended 2-3 years old. It makes me wonder what people in India feed their babies. On a similar note, my dad fed me Skyline Chili for the first time when I was ten months old. He was home alone with me, and my mom had given him specific directions to not let me have any of it. My mom was not happy at all when she found out, but the damage was done. I really liked it and wanted to eat more of it. I wonder if this is why I have a strong stomach now.

Also when people are standing on the sidewalks and throw their cigarette butts into the street.

I took it late in the day, so I haven't heard back yet.

I had my glucose test today. The liquid they gave me tasted like fruit punch.
  12. I wonder when Ice Cream Palace at 13th and Walnut will open for the season. Ice cream sounds good.
  13. There hasn't been much news here lately, so I'll let a little off-topic go on. A little off-topic isn't bad, but I know how ugly things can get when talking east-side/west-side. I spent most of my life on the west-side, but I did live "east-side" for a few years. ;-)
  14. West Side/East Side stereotypes have nothing to do with the streetcar.
  15. There is a Citizens on Patrol group for OTR, but I don't know how active it is now.

Things NOT to say to a pregnant woman: - Congratulations! I was just looking at you the other day and thought you were gaining weight! - Are you sure you're not expecting twins? You are so huge that there has to be another baby in there. I wasn't nearly that big when I was pregnant!

Exactly. I usually tune out the TV at home, but it's hard when the people you are with are just watching. I don't watch much TV, so I don't know much about the new TV shows that are on now. I've found that some people cannot have a conversation without talking about TV. I've also had people give me a blank look and ask "well what do you do then?" when I mention that I don't watch much.
  18. The numbers mentioned were nationally, so I want to see the numbers for Hamilton County. Back when the taxes were on the ballot to build a new prison and add rehab programs (including fixing the current juvenile system), my husband looked up the type of people in the Hamilton County prison. They were violent offenders. Since then, Queensgate was shut down. I have a hard time believing that the our justice center is holding many non-violent offenders, if any at all. At Downtown Residents Council meetings, the police officers are constantly mentioning that they will arrest someone during their shift, only to find them back on the street before their shift is over.
  19. ^ I still don't quite understand. Are you saying that COAST and NAACP are criminals? And I never said anything about saying something to anyone.
  20. I do believe Deters in this case. I've heard several policemen say that they will arrest someone at the beginning of their shift for shoplifting. Before the end of the shift, they are arrest the same person again because they weren't kept in prison for more than ten minutes.
  21. Just wondering. How do you know they are not talking about it? Have you been to all their meetings? Do you really think any of them can make a difference? If they are not listening to Bill cosby to won't listen to anyone. Infact they will be offended and do more crime not less. I don't understand everything you're saying. No, I don't attend COAST or NAACP meetings. I don't know what they are discussing, so that's why I started the post by saying "I wonder if...." All I know is that COAST and the local NAACP campaigned heavily against building a new prison in Hamilton County the last time the issue was on the ballot. I don't understand what the comment about "they will commit more crime" is referencing.
  22. I wonder if COAST and the NAACP are still convinced that we don't need a new prison. Also, I hear rumors that people are coming from Clermont County and Northern Kentucky to Anderson Township to do their shop-lifting. They know that Hamilton County doesn't have enough prison space.
  23. That's good new that The Subway is planning to relocate. I had heard originally that they were just going to close. I wonder if they are moving to the spot on 9th and Main that used to be a night club/bar. That space has been vacant for at least two years.
  24. The men and women won today. The women won their first round game against East Tennessee State (94-82), and they will play Vanderbilt on Tuesday. The men beat Pittsburgh (71-68) and advance to the Sweet 16. They will play Kansas State on Thursday.
  25. Revenge time against Pittsburgh!
