  1. I would be interested in hearing more about costs of the subway tour, too.

I don't hit much traffic to and from work. Of course, I leave my house around 7:30 AM, and I leave work around 5:00 PM. I am currently commuting from Pleasant Ridge to down town.
  3. Thanks for posting this! I'll have to check it out. My husband and I stayed at the Vernon Manor Hotel on our wedding night. It is a very neat hotel. We haven't been there since, so checking out the Forum Grill would be a good reason to return. :)
  4. Isn't Dubois still open? My brother was there a few weeks ago and bought a bunch of Bearcat stuff. I believe the bookstore on campus is open to the public. Even though my username suggests otherwise, I have been in UC's bookstore a few times. ;) Of course, I was just picking up stuff for my brother.
  5. Los Angeles had a problem (or maybe they still have it) with police from nearby cities just dropping off homeless people in their downtown. I wonder if having a facility like CityLink will cause the police and others from nearby communities (Covington, the numerous townships, etc.) to do the same thing in the West End. Would CityLink have the resources to handle all these people?
  6. Thanks for posting these! It's harder to see the progress on Government Square when viewing it from street level. They are further along than I realized.
  7. I grew up in Green Township, but I was only about one or two miles away from Delhi. I remember the noise from the airport getting worse in the early '90s. I can't imagine how bad it must have been close to the river.
  8. I think River Bend is a terrible venue. About a third of the seats in the pavillion have obstructed views of the stage, and the "pillars" holding up the roof of the pavillion block the view from the lawn. It's more of an architectural flop. It is by far my least favorite music venue in Cincy.

Hopefully March. That's assuming that our condo is on time and that our house sells quickly. :)

What if I need to get a cab from another neighborhood, such as Mt. Adams or Hyde Park? I'll have to remember to call about an hour before pickup time.
  12. Even though I have lived in this city for my entire life, I have only taken a taxi ride in this city about six times. Some experiences have been better than others in terms of wait time. Because my husband and I will be moving downtown in a few months, I figure we will be taking taxis more often. Does anyone have any advice for me? Is my best bet in downtown to walk to a hotel and catch one there? If calling for a taxi in another area, which companies are good? I'm interested in hearing experiences from others here.
  13. Kudos to Vineyard for dropping out of this project! I checked out the website for the PathMall in Los Angeles. I noticed that they started as a small organization in a church basement. Over time, they grew larger. So the founding church actually helped people in their own neighborhood. Plus, they started small. I would be afraid that creating a huge center such as CityLink would be overwhelming. I too am afraid that Cincinnati would become a drop-off place and would end up exhausting our resources.

  15. Yes, there will be retail on the first floor along with a common area for the residents. There is no word yet on what retail will be there, but I've been told that it will probably be restaurants or small shops. I got a hard hat tour of the building last week. I'll post pictures of that tonight. It looked pretty disturbing to me. The building is going through a complete rehab, so it's a mess inside.
  16. The scaffolding is now gone. Here are a few pictures taken earlier this month:
  17. It burns me up that the lead guy behind this is from Mason. Of course, his family will be just fine in their own little bubble.
  18. I know a middle-class guy who has used one of these places for a payday loan. He made a decent salary, yet he was broke from buying expensive computer equipment, DVDs, took several trips, etc.
  19. Yeah, they are known as the "Hamilton County Commisioners." ;)
  20. I did some shopping down town today. They were removing the skywalk over Vine street today, and they had the street and sidewalk closed beneath it. I watched a little of the demolition from the windows inside Macy's. It was interesting to watch. I really wish I had brought my camera with me. I have to admit that I was against them tearing down the skywalk at first. After reading several articles about skywalks in other cities and their disadvantages, I began to understand why they wanted to do. Now that the skywalk is gone over the square, I do have to say that the square looks much brighter and bigger. :) I think downtown will be just fine without it.
  21. Cirque du Soleil's "Mystere" show in Las Vegas is good. That would be cool if they came to Cincy.
  22. Isn't there a Thai restaurant in the old Longhorn Steakhouse space? It's a pretty good one, too.
  23. Congrats on your new place! I was very impressed with Park Place @ Lytle when I went to the Tour of Downtown Living back in October. :)
  24. They have removed quite a bit of the scaffolding. It really is coming along. :) It looks like they have done some framing on the inside, too.
  25. ^ I don't have any inside pictures yet, but I'll post some when I get them. It will probably be in a few weeks.
