  1. Maybe sprinkle some of that atop the "tower". It would be nice for one of these new buildings to break the 400' mark.
  2. Im kinda disappointed that there have been so few pictures posted of the near finished product. Where's is the guy form 1 Cleveland Center and the other from the Justice Center? Or views of the skyline? Anyone have anything?
  3. More 20-30 floor buildings? NO WAY!! That new Hilton is 30-32 short floors and it isn't very visible from a distance. Cleveland needs more 500 ft + buildings. By some standards, Columbus is ranked ahead of Cleveland because of the # of 500+ plus buildings (5 vs 4). That's not cool.
  4. Does anyone know what's going on at the top of the building? They had it build up, then took it back down (see the earthcam from day to day). :wtf:
  5. I thought he wanted to have a parking garage built in time for the convention... any reports of ground being broken? Anything? They better hurry up!
  6. Possibly. Read under DESIGN- "BIM coordination from Level 30 and below is substantially complete; and Levels 31 and above are progressing." http://www.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_home/en-US/ConventionCenter/ProjectUpdates/Mar-Apr2015-HCDConstructionUpdate.pdf
  7. What if the design for the building is pre-fabricated parts, and after the foundation is set, the structure goes up in a month? Is that possible with a building that high? (I heard the tallest is around 30 floors [there's a you-tube video where a building in China goes up in 15 days are unfamiliar])
  8. -Exactly! I notice as I occasionally check the updates that this building has rather handsome concrete formwork and I am glad it is not hidden like in 95% of buildings (or every other building in Clevo). Also, anyone else notice that this building makes the Justice Center look a lot less ugly? I wonder how it will look with the Federal Building across the mall (w/ both the Hilton and Fed glad in glass)...
  9. Truthfully, I think that's what makes Cleveland look interesting is there are a few buildings built from each period of architectural style. We have the solid linestone buildings from the early part of the 20th century when Cleveland WAS American industrial muscle, the 60s era buildings (ie The Federal building which looks like a giant ice cube) the BP building is 80s postmodern, the Key Tower screams 90s, etc. I think a 2010s era skyscraper will fit the skyline well. :shoot: :whip: :drunk: -another thing I really like about the design is Cleveland has a beautify horizontal "skyline". When you come over the I-90 bridge, you see all of the bridges crossing the flats, and the white stone buildings facing the river kinda makes it look like a fortress city. I'm glad our friends at NBBJ noticed this as well. (I am a HUGE fan of the bridge design). However, I don't like the void it creates in the tower. I'd like to see how the top of the tower would look shifted off-axis. PS: Cleveland should only refer to itself as a Great Lakes City, putting ourselves in the company of Chicago and Toronto and leave the Midwest moniker for Topeka Kansas or Iowa. Dig? It's more geographically accurate. (-this rant inspired by people on message boards talking about the Midwest. The Midwest thing is a term coastal snobs use because they are geographically ignorant)
  10. Future Cleveland skyline?
  11. Nice massings but would be nice to see more than more boxes. A few curves could really soften it. 500 foot tower is the way to go.
  12. Hope more than the Toby Keith bar is built in time for the Republican convention... go for a 500+ foot high tower, Mr. Stark (or you're a wimp!!!)  :shoot: :shoot:
  13. They should redesign the top of key tower and add a new spire to make it higher than 1000 feet. They also can cheat on the floor count like they do here in NYC and sy that it's a 67 story building (they don't include the 9 floors at the top). Example: there is nothing between the 86th floor and 102nd floor of the empire state building. It's just stairs to the top!
  14. When I look at the renderings, I still think they don't know what they're going to put at the top of the building. I think I saw that the construction docs are at 50%. Hopefully they design something that will make it nudge it over the 400' mark (top to bottom on Lakeside) :wtf:
