Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I don’t really understand the statements about the Haslams using lakefront development revenue to help fund a stadium. They don’t own the current stadium or the land? 🤔

Cleveland: Housing Market
I was really pleasantly surprised that there weren’t any jabs or back handed compliments about Cleveland in that article.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
This is the latest I could find: ”Overall, the transit agency has raised $197.5 million of the $300 million budgeted for rail-car replacement.” https://www.progressiverailroading.com/mechanical/news/Greater-Cleveland-RTA-obtains-state-funds-for-rail-car-replacement--67375

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
The consultant hired to analyze renovating the existing Justice center did not provide a cost estimate and stated that was outside his scope or work. So we don’t even know which is more or less yet.

Should’ve known there’s always a scoop!

Canal Basin Park and Lake Link Trail
I believe the whole area is going to be for boat slips. I have heard there are plans to convert that to housing. I know they are going to apply for a parking requirements waiver. I’ve also been told they want try and connect the top floor of the building with the viaduct and potentially build a park underneath the arch.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
If we’re talking about site remediation of the Transport Road site as a negative cost wise, I get it. But plenty of land, especially in cleveland, requires remediation and I think it’s unhelpful to talk about it in terms of “toxic” implying that it would be unsafe for using that land. I also see online (mainly Twitter) people extremely upset about building a new jail. What are our other options though? The current conditions at the jail are inhumane, and I’m embarrassed as a resident. All of the options suck and will be expensive. Maybe I’m missing something obvious I don’t know.

Canal Basin Park and Lake Link Trail
I really hope there is a plan to utilize the brick building with terracotta roof tiles. It’s really gorgeous with the ivy growing up the side. Could be a great boathouse, maybe a place to sell refreshments.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
The situation is just completely in flux as far as materials are concerned. Suppliers used to issue a guaranteed cost for a specific time frame, generally to the completion date of the project. Right now, suppliers will give you a price quote that’s “good” for 30 days, but won’t actually bill until the materials are shipped. If the price is higher at that point, sorry about your luck!

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Proximity wise yes, but integrated into the neighborhood no. They are quite literally physically separated from the rest of the neighborhood. But I’d be curious to hear what residents think or if there was any data regarding this.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
To be fair, this particular amendment was written by the legislature. So maybe that was intended.
-
Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
The constitutional amendment, passed by the citizens of Ohio gave the Ohio Supreme Court explicit and exclusive jurisdiction to decide whether the maps meet the criteria the voters approved. How is that not having the “power”??

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Sounds like they’re on your wave length. Lots of good of good stuff in here, including promoting park & ride at Rockside and Akron stations, improved biking access and circulation, and the below 👇🏼

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Thank you @KJP! That’s a great way to look at it. I’m not so great at sleeping in a car but lying down might help, we’ll see haha. From what I’ve been reading, most of the delays are heppening between ABQ and LA, but I’m getting off in Albuquerque so I’m hopeful 🤞🏼 Very much looking forward to the experience.
